Deuteronomy 16:18

“You shall appoint judges and officers in all your cities (gates) which the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.

Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which the Lord thy God giveth thee, throughout thy tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment.

وَأَقِيمُوا لأَنْفُسِكُمْ قُضَاةً وَمُدَبِّرِينَ فِي جَمِيعِ الْمُدُنِ الَّتِي يُوَرِّثُكُمْ إِيَّاهَا الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ بِحَسَبِ أَسْبَاطِكُمْ فَيَقْضُوا بَيْنَ الشَّعْبِ بِالْعَدْلِ.

Stel rechters en ambtenaren aan voor alle steden die de Here, uw God, u geeft. Zij zullen in alle delen van het land voor de rechtspraak zorgen.
