Daniel 8:12

Because of the transgression [of God’s people—their irreverence and ungodliness] the host will be given over to the wicked horn, along with the regular sacrifice; and righteousness and truth will be flung to the ground, and the horn will do as it pleases [by divine permission] and prosper.

And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.

Because many of the Lord’s people refused to obey him, they were handed over to the horn. The daily sacrifices were also given over to it. The horn was successful no matter what it did. And true worship of God was thrown down to the ground.

وَبِسَبَبِ الْمَعْصِيَةِ سُلِّطَ عَلَى جُنْدِ القِدِّيسِينَ وَعَلَى الْمُحْرَقَةِ الْيَوْمِيَّةِ. وَحَالَفَهُ التَّوْفِيقُ فِي كُلِّ مَا صَنَعَ فَطَرَحَ الْحَقَّ عَلى الأَرْضِ.

Es setzte ein ganzes Heer ein, das die täglichen Opfer mit Gewalt unterbinden sollte.[a] So trat es die Wahrheit mit Füßen, und was immer es unternahm, gelang ihm.
