Joab the son of Zeruiah was [commander] over the army; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder (secretary);

And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

Joab son of Zeruiah was head of the army;Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was clerk;

Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army, and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder.

Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was commander over the army. Jehoshaphat, the son of Ahilud, kept the records.

وَتَوَلَّى يُوآبُ ابْنُ صَرُوِيَّةَ قِيَادَةَ الْجَيْشِ، وَيَهُوشَافَاطُ بْنُ أَخِيلُودَ مَنْصِبَ الْمُسَجِّلِ،

Joab var øverstbefalende for hæren; Joshafat, Ahiluds søn, var kongens øverste embedsmand med ansvar for arkiverne;
