2 Samuel 23:16

So the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines, and drew water from the well of Bethlehem by the gate, and carried and brought it to David. But he would not drink it, but poured it out [in worship] to the Lord.

Da sneg de tre mænd sig gennem filistrenes lejr, øste vand fra brønden ved byporten og bragte det til David. Men han kunne ikke få sig selv til at drikke det. I stedet hældte han det ud på jorden som et offer til Herren.

De tre hjältarna bröt sig då igenom filistéernas läger och hämtade upp vatten ur brunnen vid Betlehems stadsport och förde det med sig tillbaka till David. Men David vägrade att dricka det och hällde ut det som ett dryckesoffer till Herren.
