2 Samuel 18:23

“But whatever happens, Let me run.” So Joab said to him, “Run.” Then Ahimaaz ran by the way of the plain [of the Jordan River] and outran the Cushite.

But howsoever, said he, let me run. And he said unto him, Run. Then Ahimaaz ran by the way of the plain, and overran Cushi.

“I don’t care; let me run.”“Okay,” said Joab, “run.” So Ahimaaz ran, taking the lower valley road, and passed the Cushite. 24-25 David was sitting between the two gates. The sentry had gone up to the top of the gate on the wall and looked around. He saw a solitary runner. The sentry called down and told the king. The king said, “If he’s alone, it must be good news!” 25-26 As the runner came closer, the sentry saw another runner and called down to the gate, “Another runner all by himself.”And the king said, “This also must be good news.”

“But whatever happens,” he said, “I will run.” So he said to him, “Run.” Then Ahimaaz ran by way of the plain and passed up the Cushite.

He said, “I don’t care what happens. I want to run.”So Joab said, “Run!” Then Ahimaaz ran across the plain of the Jordan River. As he ran, he passed the man from Cush.

He said, “Come what may, I want to run.”So Joab said, “Run!” Then Ahimaaz ran by way of the plain[f] and outran the Cushite.

“Yes, but let me go anyway,” he begged.Joab finally said, “All right, go ahead.” So Ahimaaz took the less demanding route by way of the plain and ran to Mahanaim ahead of the Ethiopian.

فَقَالَ لَهُ: «مَهْمَا كَانَ الأَمْرُ دَعْنِي أَجْرِي». فَأَذِنَ لَهُ، فَجَرَى أَخِيمَعَصُ فِي طَرِيقِ الْغَوْرِ وَسَبَقَ الْكُوشِيَّ.

„Åh,” bad Ahima’atz, „jeg vil så gerne!”„Så løb da!” indvilligede Joab til sidst, hvorefter Ahima’atz skød genvej gennem dalen, så han kom foran sudaneseren.
