2 Samuel 12:21

Then his servants said to him, “What is this thing that you have done? While the child was alive you fasted and wept, but when the child died, you got up and ate food.”

Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.

His servants asked him, “What’s going on with you? While the child was alive you fasted and wept and stayed up all night. Now that he’s dead, you get up and eat.” 22-23 “While the child was alive,” he said, “I fasted and wept, thinking God might have mercy on me and the child would live. But now that he’s dead, why fast? Can I bring him back now? I can go to him, but he can’t come to me.” 24-25 David went and comforted his wife Bathsheba. And when he slept with her, they conceived a son. When he was born they named him Solomon. God had a special love for him and sent word by Nathan the prophet that God wanted him named Jedidiah (God’s Beloved). 26-30 Joab, at war in Rabbah against the Ammonites, captured the royal city. He sent messengers to David saying, “I’m fighting at Rabbah, and I’ve just captured the city’s water supply. Hurry and get the rest of the troops together and set up camp here at the city and complete the capture yourself. Otherwise, I’ll capture it and get all the credit instead of you.” So David marshaled all the troops, went to Rabbah, and fought and captured it. He took the crown from their king’s head—very heavy with gold, and with a precious stone in it. It ended up on David’s head. And they plundered the city, carrying off a great quantity of loot.

Then his servants said to him, “What is this thing that you have done? [j]While the child was alive, you fasted and wept; but when the child died, you arose and ate food.”

His attendants asked him, “Why are you acting like this? While the child was still alive, you wouldn’t eat anything. You cried a lot. But now that the child is dead, you get up and eat!”

فَسَأَلَهُ رِجَالُ حَاشِيَتِهِ: «كَيْفَ تَتَصَرَّفُ هَكَذَا؟ عِنْدَمَا كَانَ الصَّبِيُّ حَيًّا صُمْتَ وَبَكَيْتَ، وَلَكِنْ مَا إِنْ مَاتَ حَتَّى قُمْتَ وَتَنَاوَلْتَ طَعَاماً؟»

Hans tjenere var forbløffede over hans reaktion.„Forstår man nu det?” udbrød de. „Mens drengen endnu var i live, græd du og nægtede at spise, men så snart han er død, holder du op med at sørge og begynder at spise igen!”

그러자 그의 신하들이 물었다. “우리 는이해할수가없습니다. 아이가살 아 있을 때는 울고 금식하시더니 아이 가 죽은 후에는 일어나서 잡수시니 어 찌된 일이십니까?”

Zijn dienaren stonden versteld. ‘Wij begrijpen u niet,’ zeiden zij. ‘Toen het kind nog leefde, huilde u en weigerde u te eten. En nu het kind dood is, houdt u op met rouwen en eet u opeens weer.’

Hans tjänare undrade varför han betedde sig så. De sa till honom: ”Medan barnet fortfarande levde, grät du och vägrade att äta, men nu när barnet har dött, går du upp och börjar äta som vanligt.”

ข้าราชบริพารทูลว่า “เหตุใดฝ่าพระบาททรงทำเช่นนี้ ขณะที่โอรสนั้นยังมีชีวิตอยู่ ฝ่าพระบาททรงอดพระกระยาหารและทรงกันแสง แต่บัดนี้ทารกนั้นสิ้นแล้ว ฝ่าพระบาททรงลุกขึ้นเสวย!”

他的臣仆诧异地问他：“我们真不明白，孩子还活着的时候，你禁食、哀哭。孩子死了，你反倒起来进食。”

臣 仆 问 他 说 ： 你 所 行 的 是 甚 麽 意 思 ？ 孩 子 活 着 的 时 候 ， 你 禁 食 哭 泣 ； 孩 子 死 了 ， 你 倒 起 来 吃 饭 。

他的臣僕詫異地問他：「我們真不明白，孩子還活著的時候，你禁食、哀哭。孩子死了，你反倒起來進食。」
