2 Chronicles 32:4

So many people came together, and they stopped up all the springs and the brook which flowed [underground] through the region, saying, “Why should the kings of Assyria come and find an abundance of water?”

So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?

وَتَجَمَّعَ جُمْهُورٌ غَفِيرٌ، رَدَمُوا جَمِيعَ الْيَنَابِيعِ وَالنَّهْرَ الْجَارِيَ فِي وَسَطِ الأَرْضِ قَائِلِينَ: «لِمَاذَا يَأْتِي مُلُوكُ أَشُّورَ وَيَجِدُونَ مِيَاهاً غَزِيرَةً؟»

und sagten: »Warum sollten wir es den Assyrern einfach machen und sie Wasser finden lassen, wenn sie uns belagern?« Sie riefen viele Menschen aus dem Volk zusammen, schütteten alle Quellen zu und versperrten den Zugang zur unterirdischen Wasserleitung, durch die das Wasser in die Stadt floss.
