Verse 1
Some time later Joseph was told, “Your father is ill.” So he took his two sons Manasseh and Ephraim along with him.
ต่อมามีคนมาบอกโยเซฟว่า “บิดาของท่านป่วย” เขาจึงพาบุตรสองคนคือมนัสเสห์และเอฟราอิมไปเยี่ยม
Verse 2
When Jacob was told, “Your son Joseph has come to you,” Israel rallied his strength and sat up on the bed.
เมื่อมีคนมาบอกยาโคบว่า “โยเซฟบุตรชายของท่านมาหา” อิสราเอลจึงรวบรวมกำลังพยุงกายขึ้นนั่งบนเตียง
Verse 3
Jacob said to Joseph, “God Almighty[a] appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and there he blessed me
ยาโคบกล่าวกับโยเซฟว่า “พระเจ้าผู้ทรงฤทธิ์ได้ปรากฏแก่เราที่ลูสในดินแดนคานาอัน และที่นั่นพระองค์ทรงอวยพรเรา
Verse 4
and said to me, ‘I am going to make you fruitful and increase your numbers. I will make you a community of peoples, and I will give this land as an everlasting possession to your descendants after you.’
ตรัสว่า ‘เราจะทำให้เจ้ามีลูกมีหลานทวีจำนวนขึ้นมากมาย เราจะทำให้เจ้าเป็นประชาคมของชนชาติทั้งหลาย และจะยกดินแดนนี้ให้เป็นกรรมสิทธิ์นิรันดร์แก่วงศ์วานของเจ้าสืบไป’
Verse 5
“Now then, your two sons born to you in Egypt before I came to you here will be reckoned as mine; Ephraim and Manasseh will be mine, just as Reuben and Simeon are mine.
“บัดนี้ เอฟราอิมและมนัสเสห์ ลูกทั้งสองคนของเจ้าซึ่งเกิดในอียิปต์ก่อนที่เราจะมาถึง เขาจะถูกนับว่าเป็นลูกของเรา เขาทั้งสองจะเป็นลูกของเราเหมือนรูเบนและสิเมโอน
Verse 6
Any children born to you after them will be yours; in the territory they inherit they will be reckoned under the names of their brothers.
ส่วนลูกคนอื่นๆ ของเจ้าที่เกิดมาภายหลังเขาทั้งสองจะเป็นทายาทของเจ้าเอง และจะรับมรดกส่วนของเอฟราอิมและมนัสเสห์
Verse 7
As I was returning from Paddan,[b] to my sorrow Rachel died in the land of Canaan while we were still on the way, a little distance from Ephrath. So I buried her there beside the road to Ephrath” (that is, Bethlehem).
ที่เราทำเช่นนี้ก็เพราะเมื่อครั้งเรากลับมาจากปัดดาน เราเศร้าเสียใจมากที่ราเชลเสียชีวิตในดินแดนคานาอันขณะเดินทาง ไม่ไกลจากเอฟราธาห์นัก เราจึงฝังนางไว้บนเส้นทางไปเอฟราธาห์” (คือเบธเลเฮม)
Verse 8
When Israel saw the sons of Joseph, he asked, “Who are these?”
เมื่ออิสราเอลเห็นบุตรชายของโยเซฟก็ถามว่า “นี่ใคร?”
Verse 9
“They are the sons God has given me here,” Joseph said to his father.
Then Israel said, “Bring them to me so I may bless them.”
โยเซฟตอบบิดาของเขาว่า “นี่คือลูกชายที่พระเจ้าประทานให้เราที่นี่”
แล้วอิสราเอลจึงพูดว่า “จงนำพวกเขามาหาเรา เพื่อเราจะได้อวยพรเขา”
Verse 10
Now Israel’s eyes were failing because of old age, and he could hardly see. So Joseph brought his sons close to him, and his father kissed them and embraced them.
บัดนี้อิสราเอลตาฝ้าฟางเพราะอายุมาก มองอะไรแทบไม่เห็น โยเซฟจึงพาบุตรชายทั้งสองคนเข้าไปใกล้และบิดาของโยเซฟก็จูบและกอดพวกเขา
Verse 11
Israel said to Joseph, “I never expected to see your face again, and now God has allowed me to see your children too.”
แล้วอิสราเอลพูดกับโยเซฟว่า “เราไม่เคยคิดเลยว่าจะได้เห็นหน้าเจ้าอีกครั้งหนึ่ง แล้วเดี๋ยวนี้พระเจ้ายังทรงอนุญาตให้เราได้เห็นลูกของเจ้าอีกด้วย”
Verse 12
Then Joseph removed them from Israel’s knees and bowed down with his face to the ground.
โยเซฟเอาบุตรทั้งสองออกจากตักอิสราเอล แล้วโยเซฟหมอบซบหน้าลงกับพื้น
Verse 13
And Joseph took both of them, Ephraim on his right toward Israel’s left hand and Manasseh on his left toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them close to him.
แล้วจูงบุตรทั้งสองเข้าไปใกล้บิดา มือขวาจับเอฟราอิมให้อยู่ทางซ้ายมือของอิสราเอล ส่วนมือซ้ายจับมนัสเสห์ให้อยู่ทางขวามือของอิสราเอล
Verse 14
But Israel reached out his right hand and put it on Ephraim’s head, though he was the younger, and crossing his arms, he put his left hand on Manasseh’s head, even though Manasseh was the firstborn.
แต่อิสราเอลไขว้แขนเอามือขวาวางบนศีรษะของเอฟราอิมทั้งที่เขาเป็นน้อง และมือซ้ายวางบนศีรษะของมนัสเสห์ทั้งๆ ที่มนัสเสห์เป็นบุตรหัวปี
Verse 15
Then he blessed Joseph and said,
“May the God before whom my fathers
Abraham and Isaac walked faithfully,
the God who has been my shepherd
all my life to this day,
แล้วเขาจึงอวยพรโยเซฟว่า
“ขอพระเจ้าของบรรพบุรุษของเรา
ผู้ที่อับราฮัมและอิสอัคได้ดำเนินชีวิตอย่างซื่อสัตย์อยู่ต่อหน้า
พระเจ้าผู้ทรงเป็นผู้เลี้ยงของเรา
มาตลอดชีวิตจนถึงทุกวันนี้
Verse 16
the Angel who has delivered me from all harm
—may he bless these boys.
May they be called by my name
and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac,
and may they increase greatly
on the earth.”

พระองค์ผู้เป็นทูตสวรรค์ผู้ทรงช่วยให้เราพ้นจากอันตรายทั้งสิ้น
ขอพระองค์ทรงอวยพรเด็กหนุ่มทั้งสองคนนี้
ขอให้เขาทั้งสองเป็นผู้สืบสกุลของเรา
และสืบสกุลของบรรพบุรุษของเราคืออับราฮัมและอิสอัค
ขอให้เขาเพิ่มทวีขึ้นมากมาย
บนแผ่นดินเถิด”
ขอพระองค์ทรงอวยพรเด็กหนุ่มทั้งสองคนนี้
ขอให้เขาทั้งสองเป็นผู้สืบสกุลของเรา
และสืบสกุลของบรรพบุรุษของเราคืออับราฮัมและอิสอัค

Verse 17
When Joseph saw his father placing his right hand on Ephraim’s head he was displeased; so he took hold of his father’s hand to move it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head.
เมื่อโยเซฟเห็นบิดาเอามือขวาวางบนศีรษะของเอฟราอิมก็เห็นว่าเป็นเรื่องไม่ถูกไม่ควร ดังนั้นเขาจึงเอามือของบิดาออกจากศีรษะของเอฟราอิมไปวางบนศีรษะของมนัสเสห์
Verse 18
Joseph said to him, “No, my father, this one is the firstborn; put your right hand on his head.”
โยเซฟกล่าวกับบิดาว่า “ไม่ใช่ พ่อขอรับ คนนี้ต่างหากเป็นบุตรหัวปี โปรดวางมือขวาของพ่อลงบนหัวคนนี้เถิด”
Verse 19
But his father refused and said, “I know, my son, I know. He too will become a people, and he too will become great. Nevertheless, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his descendants will become a group of nations.”
แต่อิสราเอลปฏิเสธว่า “พ่อรู้ ลูกเอ๋ย พ่อรู้ เขาก็จะกลายเป็นชนชาติหนึ่งและจะยิ่งใหญ่ด้วย แต่น้องชายจะยิ่งใหญ่กว่า และลูกหลานของเขาจะเป็นกลุ่มประชาชาติ”
Verse 20
He blessed them that day and said,
“In your[c] name will Israel pronounce this blessing:
‘May God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh.’”
So he put Ephraim ahead of Manasseh.
ยาโคบจึงอวยพรพวกเขาในวันนั้นว่า
“อิสราเอลจะให้พรกันในนามของเจ้าว่า
‘ขอพระเจ้าบันดาลให้ท่านเป็นเหมือนเอฟราอิมและมนัสเสห์’ ”
ดังนั้นยาโคบจึงเอ่ยชื่อเอฟราอิมก่อนมนัสเสห์
