1 Thessalonians 5

Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you,

พี่น้องทั้งหลาย เราไม่จำเป็นต้องเขียนบอกท่านว่าเป็นวันเวลาใด

for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

เพราะท่านรู้ดีว่าวันขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจะมาถึงเหมือนขโมยในยามวิกาล

While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

ขณะที่ผู้คนกำลังพูดกันว่า “สงบสุขและปลอดภัย” ขณะนั้นหายนะก็จะมาถึงพวกเขาในฉับพลันเหมือนการเจ็บท้องจะคลอดที่เกิดขึ้นกับหญิงมีครรภ์ และคนเหล่านั้นจะหนีไม่พ้น

But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.

You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.

พวกท่านล้วนเป็นลูกของความสว่าง เป็นลูกของกลางวัน เราไม่ได้เป็นของกลางคืนหรือของความมืด

So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.

ฉะนั้นเราอย่าเหมือนคนอื่นๆ ที่หลับใหล แต่จงตื่นตัวและควบคุมตนเอง

For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.

เพราะผู้ที่หลับก็หลับเวลากลางคืน ผู้ที่เมามายก็เมามายตอนกลางคืน

But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

แต่เพราะเราอยู่ฝ่ายกลางวัน ให้เรารู้จักบังคับตน สวมความเชื่อและความรักเป็นเกราะกำบังอก มีความหวังใจในความรอดเป็นหมวกเหล็ก

For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

เพราะพระเจ้าไม่ได้ทรงกำหนดให้เราเผชิญพระพิโรธ แต่ทรงให้รับความรอดโดยทางองค์พระเยซูคริสต์เจ้าของเรา

He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.

พระองค์ได้สิ้นพระชนม์เพื่อเรา เพื่อไม่ว่าเราจะอยู่หรือตายก็จะมีชีวิตกับพระองค์

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

Final Instructions

เหตุฉะนั้นจงให้กำลังใจกันและเสริมสร้างซึ่งกันและกันขึ้นเหมือนที่ท่านก็กำลังทำอยู่แล้ว

Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you.

พี่น้องทั้งหลาย เราขอให้ท่านนับถือผู้ที่ทำงานหนักในหมู่พวกท่าน ผู้ที่ปกครองดูแลพวกท่านในองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าและผู้ที่ตักเตือนท่าน

Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.

จงรักและเคารพเขาเหล่านั้นอย่างสูงเนื่องด้วยการงานที่เขาทำ จงอยู่ร่วมกันอย่างสงบสุข

And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

พี่น้องทั้งหลาย เราขอให้ท่านตักเตือนคนที่เกียจคร้าน ให้กำลังใจผู้ที่ขลาดอาย ช่วยเหลือผู้ที่อ่อนแอ อดทนกับทุกคน

Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.

จงสอดส่องดูแลอย่าให้ใครทำชั่วตอบแทนการชั่ว แต่จงพากเพียรทำดีต่อกันและดีต่อคนอื่นๆ ทุกคนเสมอ

Rejoice always,

จงชื่นชมยินดีอยู่เสมอ

pray continually,

จงอธิษฐานอยู่เสมอ

give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

จงขอบพระคุณในทุกสถานการณ์เพราะนี่คือพระประสงค์ของพระเจ้าสำหรับท่านทั้งหลายในพระเยซูคริสต์

Do not quench the Spirit.

อย่าดับไฟแห่งพระวิญญาณ

Do not treat prophecies with contempt

อย่าลบหลู่คำเผยพระวจนะ

but test them all; hold on to what is good,

จงทดสอบทุกสิ่ง จงยึดมั่นในสิ่งที่ดี

reject every kind of evil.

จงหลีกห่างความชั่วทุกชนิด

May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

ขอพระเจ้าเองผู้ทรงเป็นพระเจ้าแห่งสันติสุขทรงชำระท่านให้บริสุทธิ์หมดจด ขอให้ทั้งวิญญาณ จิตใจ และร่างกายของท่านไร้ที่ติเมื่อองค์พระเยซูคริสต์เจ้าของเราเสด็จมา

The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.

พระองค์ผู้ทรงเรียกท่านนั้นทรงสัตย์ซื่อและพระองค์จะทรงกระทำตามที่ตรัสไว้

Brothers and sisters, pray for us.

พี่น้องทั้งหลาย โปรดอธิษฐานเผื่อเรา

Greet all God’s people with a holy kiss.

จงทักทายพี่น้องทุกคนด้วยการจุมพิตอันบริสุทธิ์

I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers and sisters.

ข้าพเจ้าขอกำชับท่านต่อหน้าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าให้อ่านจดหมายนี้ให้พี่น้องทั้งปวงฟัง

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
