Ezekiel 38

The word of the Lord came to me:

Segue-se uma outra mensagem que o Senhor me deu.

“Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of^[a] Meshek and Tubal; prophesy against him

“Homem mortal, vira-te para o norte, para a terra de Magogue, e profetiza contra Gogue, rei de Meseque e de Tubal.

and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of^[b] Meshek and Tubal.

Comunica-lhe o que o Senhor Deus lhe diz: Sou contra ti, Gogue.

I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army—your horses, your horsemen fully armed, and a great horde with large and small shields, all of them brandishing their swords.

Vou pôr-te ganchos nos queixos e levar-te para a tua condenação. Mobilizarei as tuas tropas e toda a tua cavalaria militar; farei de ti um poderoso exército, perfeitamente apretrechado.

Persia, Cush^[c] and Put will be with them, all with shields and helmets,

A Pérsia, Cuche e Pute também se juntarão a ti, com todos os seus escudos e capacetes.

also Gomer with all its troops, and Beth Togarmah from the far north with all its troops—the many nations with you.

O mesmo fará Gomer, com os seus soldados e ainda os exércitos de Togarma, das bandas longínquas do norte, assim como muitos outros.

“‘Get ready; be prepared, you and all the hordes gathered about you, and take command of them.

Prepara-te! Mantém-te de prevenção! Serás o chefe deles todos, ó Gogue!

After many days you will be called to arms. In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and now all of them live in safety.

Muito tempo depois serás chamado a intervir. Passados longos anos cairás sobre a terra de Israel, que estará a repousar em paz, após o regresso do seu povo de muitas terras.

You and all your troops and the many nations with you will go up, advancing like a storm; you will be like a cloud covering the land.

Tu e todos os teus aliados, um vasto e terrível exército, abater-se-ão sobre eles como um furacão e cobrirão toda a terra como uma nuvem negra.

“‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: On that day thoughts will come into your mind and you will devise an evil scheme.

Assim diz o Senhor Deus: Virão uns maus pensamentos ao teu espírito, nesse tempo.

You will say, “I will invade a land of unwalled villages; I will attack a peaceful and unsuspecting people—all of them living without walls and without gates and bars.

E dirás: ‘Israel é uma terra desprotegida, com povoações sem muralhas! Atacarei e destruirei esse povo que vive tão confiante!

I will plunder and loot and turn my hand against the resettled ruins and the people gathered from the nations, rich in livestock and goods, living at the center of the land.^[d]”

Levantar-me-ei contra todas essas cidades, antigamente desoladas e agora tão cheias de gente, gente que regressou das nações do mundo inteiro, e assim recolherei um saque enorme. Esse povo está cheio de gado, neste momento, e toda a terra como que se move em torno dele!’

Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish and all her villages^[e] will say to you, “Have you come to plunder? Have you gathered your hordes to loot, to carry off silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods and to seize much plunder?”’

Mas Sabá e Dedã e os grandes senhores do comércio de Társis dirão: ‘Porque vens roubar-lhes o ouro e a prata, levar-lhes o gado e tudo o que possuem, deixando-os na miséria?’

“Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: In that day, when my people Israel are living in safety, will you not take notice of it?

Assim, homem mortal, profetiza e declara a Gogue o que o Senhor Deus diz: Quando o meu povo estiver a viver em paz, levantar-te-ás!

You will come from your place in the far north, you and many nations with you, all of them riding on horses, a great horde, a mighty army.

Virás então lá do extremo norte, tu e muitas nações na tua companhia, com as tuas numerosas e poderosas forças de cavalaria.

You will advance against my people Israel like a cloud that covers the land. In days to come, Gog, I will bring you against my land, so that the nations may know me when I am proved holy through you before their eyes.

Cobrirás a terra como uma nuvem. Isto acontecerá num futuro distante. Vou trazer-te contra a minha terra, mas a minha santidade será confirmada através da terrível destruição que sofrerás, perante os seus olhos. Todas as nações verão que eu sou Deus!

“‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: You are the one I spoke of in former days by my servants the prophets of Israel. At that time they prophesied for years that I would bring you against them.

Diz o Senhor Deus: Tu és aquele de quem eu falei, há já muito tempo, por meio dos profetas de Israel, dizendo que decorridos muitos anos haveria de te trazer contra o meu povo.

This is what will happen in that day: When Gog attacks the land of Israel, my hot anger will be aroused, declares the Sovereign Lord.

No entanto, vindo tu para destruir a terra de Israel, a minha ira se levantará!

In my zeal and fiery wrath I declare that at that time there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel.

No meu zelo, no meu furor inabalável, garanto que haverá um poderoso tremor em toda a terra de Israel, nessa ocasião.

The fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the beasts of the field, every creature that moves along the ground, and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence. The mountains will be overturned, the cliffs will crumble and every wall will fall to the ground.

Tudo o que tem vida, no ar, na terra e no mar, estremecerá na minha presença; as montanhas se desfarão, os precipícios desmoronar-se-ão, grandes muralhas cairão desfeitas no chão.

I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains, declares the Sovereign Lord. Every man’s sword will be against his brother.

Mandarei vir contra ti toda a espécie de terrores, diz o Senhor Deus! Vocês acabarão por se destruir uns aos outros, numa guerra mortal e fratricida!

I will execute judgment on him with plague and bloodshed; I will pour down torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him.

Ferir-te-ei com guerra, pestes e enchentes destruidoras. Saraivadas mortíferas, fogo e enxofre cairão sobre ele e sobre o seu exército, sobre as muitas nações suas aliadas.

And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.’

Dessa forma, revelarei a minha grandeza e trarei grande prestígio ao meu nome. Todas as nações do mundo saberão o que eu realizei e verão que eu sou o Senhor!
