Ezekiel 15

The word of the Lord came to me:

Então veio até mim esta mensagem do Senhor:

“Son of man, how is the wood of a vine different from that of a branch from any of the trees in the forest?

“Homem mortal, para que servem videiras selvagens? Serão úteis como árvores? Serão mais valiosas do que qualquer outro ramo das árvores dos bosques?

Is wood ever taken from it to make anything useful? Do they make pegs from it to hang things on?

Não, porque a madeira de videira não serve sequer para fazer estacas ou cabides!

And after it is thrown on the fire as fuel and the fire burns both ends and chars the middle, is it then useful for anything?

Tudo aquilo para que serve é arder, e mesmo para isso não é grande coisa!

If it was not useful for anything when it was whole, how much less can it be made into something useful when the fire has burned it and it is charred?

Portanto, é inútil, tanto antes como depois de ser queimada!

“Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: As I have given the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest as fuel for the fire, so will I treat the people living in Jerusalem.

Ora o que eu pretendo dizer com isto é o seguinte, diz o Senhor Deus: O povo de Jerusalém é como as videiras selvagens, sem utilidade nenhuma antes de ser queimado e também depois de arder!

I will set my face against them. Although they have come out of the fire, the fire will yet consume them. And when I set my face against them, you will know that I am the Lord.

Eu estarei atento contra eles, para garantir que se escaparem dum fogo venham a cair noutro, e logo saberão que eu sou o Senhor.

I will make the land desolate because they have been unfaithful, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

Arruinarei a terra, pois prestam culto a ídolos, diz o Senhor Deus!”
