Verse 1
It took Solomon thirteen years, however, to complete the construction of his palace.
Salomón también terminó la construcción de su propio palacio, pero el proyecto le llevó trece años.
Verse 2
He built the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon a hundred cubits long, fifty wide and thirty high,[a] with four rows of cedar columns supporting trimmed cedar beams.
Construyó el palacio «Bosque del Líbano», el cual medía cuarenta y cinco metros de largo por veintidós metros y medio de ancho y trece metros y medio de alto.[a] Cuatro hileras de columnas de cedro sostenían las vigas, las cuales también eran de cedro.

It was roofed with cedar above the beams that rested on the columns—forty-five beams, fifteen to a row.
Encima de las columnas había cuarenta y cinco celdas, quince en cada piso; y sobre las celdas[b] había un techo de cedro.

Its windows were placed high in sets of three, facing each other.
Las ventanas estaban colocadas en tres filas, de tres en tres y unas frente a las otras.
Verse 5
All the doorways had rectangular frames; they were in the front part in sets of three, facing each other.[b]
Todas las entradas tenían un marco rectangular y estaban colocadas de tres en tres, unas frente a las otras.
Verse 6
He made a colonnade fifty cubits long and thirty wide.[c] In front of it was a portico, and in front of that were pillars and an overhanging roof.
Salomón también hizo un vestíbulo de columnas que medía veintidós metros y medio de largo por trece metros y medio de ancho. Al frente había otro vestíbulo con columnas, y un alero.
Verse 7
He built the throne hall, the Hall of Justice, where he was to judge, and he covered it with cedar from floor to ceiling.[d]
Construyó además una sala para su trono, es decir, el tribunal donde impartía justicia. Esta sala la recubrió de cedro de arriba abajo.
Verse 8
And the palace in which he was to live, set farther back, was similar in design. Solomon also made a palace like this hall for Pharaoh’s daughter, whom he had married.
Su residencia personal estaba en un atrio aparte y tenía un modelo parecido. A la hija del faraón, con la cual se había casado, Salomón le construyó un palacio semejante.
Verse 9
All these structures, from the outside to the great courtyard and from foundation to eaves, were made of blocks of high-grade stone cut to size and smoothed on their inner and outer faces.
Desde los cimientos hasta las cornisas, y desde la parte exterior hasta el gran atrio, todo se hizo con bloques de piedra de buena calidad, cortados a la medida y aserrados por ambos lados.
Verse 10
The foundations were laid with large stones of good quality, some measuring ten cubits[e] and some eight.[f]
Para echar los cimientos se usaron piedras grandes y de buena calidad; unas medían más de cuatro metros, y otras, más de tres.

Above were high-grade stones, cut to size, and cedar beams.
Para la parte superior se usaron también piedras selectas, cortadas a la medida, y vigas de cedro.
Verse 12
The great courtyard was surrounded by a wall of three courses of dressed stone and one course of trimmed cedar beams, as was the inner courtyard of the temple of the Lord with its portico.

El muro que rodeaba el gran atrio tenía tres hileras de piedra labrada por cada hilera de vigas de cedro, lo mismo que el atrio interior y el vestíbulo del templo del Señor.

King Solomon sent to Tyre and brought Huram,[g]
El rey Salomón mandó traer de Tiro a Hiram,
Verse 14
whose mother was a widow from the tribe of Naphtali and whose father was from Tyre and a skilled craftsman in bronze. Huram was filled with wisdom, with understanding and with knowledge to do all kinds of bronze work. He came to King Solomon and did all the work assigned to him.
que era hijo de una viuda de la tribu de Neftalí y de un nativo de Tiro que era artesano en bronce. Hiram era sumamente hábil e inteligente, experto en toda clase de trabajo en bronce, así que se presentó ante el rey Salomón y realizó todo el trabajo que se le asignó.

He cast two bronze pillars, each eighteen cubits high and twelve cubits in circumference.[h]
Hiram fundió dos columnas de bronce, cada una de ocho metros de alto y cinco metros y medio de circunferencia, medidas a cordel.

He also made two capitals of cast bronze to set on the tops of the pillars; each capital was five cubits[i] high.
Las columnas que hizo remataban en dos capiteles de bronce fundido que medían dos metros con veinticinco centímetros de alto.

A network of interwoven chains adorned the capitals on top of the pillars, seven for each capital.
Una red de cadenas trenzadas adornaba los capiteles en la parte superior de las columnas, y en cada capitel había siete trenzas.

The capitals on top of the pillars in the portico were in the shape of lilies, four cubits[l] high.

Verse 20
On the capitals of both pillars, above the bowl-shaped part next to the network, were the two hundred pomegranates in rows all around.
La parte más alta y más ancha de los capiteles de ambas columnas estaba rodeada por doscientas granadas, dispuestas en hileras junto a la red de cadenas.
Verse 21
He erected the pillars at the portico of the temple. The pillar to the south he named Jakin[m] and the one to the north Boaz.[n]
Cuando Hiram levantó las columnas en el vestíbulo de la nave central, llamó Jaquín a la columna de la derecha, y Boaz a la de la izquierda.[e]
Verse 22
The capitals on top were in the shape of lilies. And so the work on the pillars was completed.
El trabajo de las columnas quedó terminado cuando se colocaron en la parte superior las figuras en forma de azucenas.
Verse 23
He made the Sea of cast metal, circular in shape, measuring ten cubits from rim to rim and five cubits high. It took a line of thirty cubits[o] to measure around it.
Hizo también una fuente[f] circular de metal fundido, que medía cuatro metros y medio de diámetro y dos metros con veinticinco centímetros de alto. Su circunferencia, medida a cordel, era de trece metros y medio.

Below the rim, gourds encircled it—ten to a cubit. The gourds were cast in two rows in one piece with the Sea.
Debajo del borde hizo dos hileras de figuras de calabazas, diez por cada medio metro, las cuales estaban fundidas en una sola pieza con la fuente.
Verse 25
The Sea stood on twelve bulls, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south and three facing east. The Sea rested on top of them, and their hindquarters were toward the center.
La fuente descansaba sobre doce bueyes, que tenían sus cuartos traseros hacia adentro. Tres bueyes miraban al norte, tres al oeste, tres al sur y tres al este.
Verse 26
It was a handbreadth[p] in thickness, and its rim was like the rim of a cup, like a lily blossom. It held two thousand baths.[q]
El grosor de la fuente era de ocho centímetros, y su borde, en forma de copa, se asemejaba a un capullo de azucena. Tenía una capacidad de cuarenta y cuatro mil litros.[g]
Verse 27
He also made ten movable stands of bronze; each was four cubits long, four wide and three high.[r]
También hizo diez bases de bronce, cada una de las cuales medía un metro con ochenta centímetros de largo y un metro con ochenta centímetros de ancho, por un metro con treinta y cinco centímetros de alto.

This is how the stands were made: They had side panels attached to uprights.

On the panels between the uprights were lions, bulls and cherubim—and on the uprights as well. Above and below the lions and bulls were wreaths of hammered work.

Verse 30
Each stand had four bronze wheels with bronze axles, and each had a basin resting on four supports, cast with wreaths on each side.
Cada base tenía cuatro ruedas de bronce con ejes también de bronce, y por debajo de su lavamanos se apoyaba sobre cuatro soportes fundidos que tenían guirnaldas en cada lado.
Verse 31
On the inside of the stand there was an opening that had a circular frame one cubit[s] deep. This opening was round, and with its basework it measured a cubit and a half.[t] Around its opening there was engraving. The panels of the stands were square, not round.
La boca del lavamanos estaba dentro de una corona, y sobresalía cuarenta y cinco centímetros; era redonda, y con su pedestal medía sesenta y siete centímetros. Alrededor de la boca había entalladuras, pero sus paneles eran cuadrados, no redondos.

The four wheels were under the panels, and the axles of the wheels were attached to the stand. The diameter of each wheel was a cubit and a half.
Las cuatro ruedas estaban debajo de los paneles, y los ejes de las ruedas estaban unidos a la base. Cada rueda medía sesenta y siete centímetros de diámetro

The wheels were made like chariot wheels; the axles, rims, spokes and hubs were all of cast metal.

Each stand had four handles, one on each corner, projecting from the stand.

Verse 35
At the top of the stand there was a circular band half a cubit[u] deep. The supports and panels were attached to the top of the stand.
En la parte superior de la base había un marco redondo de veintidós centímetros. Los soportes y paneles formaban una misma pieza con la parte superior de la base.
Verse 36
He engraved cherubim, lions and palm trees on the surfaces of the supports and on the panels, in every available space, with wreaths all around.
Sobre las superficies de los soportes y sobre los paneles Hiram grabó querubines, leones y palmeras, con guirnaldas alrededor, según el espacio disponible.
Verse 37
This is the way he made the ten stands. They were all cast in the same molds and were identical in size and shape.
De ese modo hizo las diez bases, las cuales fueron fundidas en los mismos moldes y eran idénticas en forma y tamaño.
Verse 38
He then made ten bronze basins, each holding forty baths[v] and measuring four cubits across, one basin to go on each of the ten stands.
Hiram hizo también diez lavamanos de bronce, uno para cada base. Cada uno de ellos medía un metro con ochenta centímetros y tenía capacidad para ochocientos ochenta litros.[h]
Verse 39
He placed five of the stands on the south side of the temple and five on the north. He placed the Sea on the south side, at the southeast corner of the temple.
Colocó cinco de las bases al lado derecho del templo y cinco al lado izquierdo. La fuente de metal la colocó en la esquina del lado derecho, al sureste del templo.
Verse 40
He also made the pots[w] and shovels and sprinkling bowls.
So Huram finished all the work he had undertaken for King Solomon in the temple of the Lord:
También hizo las ollas,[i] las tenazas y los aspersorios.
Así Hiram terminó todo el trabajo que había emprendido para el rey Salomón en el templo del Señor, es decir:

the two pillars;
the two bowl-shaped capitals on top of the pillars;
the two sets of network decorating the two bowl-shaped capitals on top of the pillars;

the four hundred pomegranates for the two sets of network (two rows of pomegranates for each network decorating the bowl-shaped capitals on top of the pillars);

the ten stands with their ten basins;

All these objects that Huram made for King Solomon for the temple of the Lord were of burnished bronze.

Verse 46
The king had them cast in clay molds in the plain of the Jordan between Sukkoth and Zarethan.

Solomon left all these things unweighed, because there were so many; the weight of the bronze was not determined.
Eran tantos los utensilios que Salomón ni los pesó, así que no fue posible determinar el peso del bronce.
Verse 48
Solomon also made all the furnishings that were in the Lord’s temple:
the golden altar;
the golden table on which was the bread of the Presence;
Salomón también mandó hacer los otros utensilios que estaban en el templo del Señor, es decir:

Verse 49
the lampstands of pure gold (five on the right and five on the left, in front of the inner sanctuary);
the gold floral work and lamps and tongs;
los candelabros de oro puro, cinco en el lado sur y cinco en el lado norte, en frente del Lugar Santísimo;
la obra floral, las lámparas y las tenazas, que también eran de oro;
Verse 50
the pure gold basins, wick trimmers, sprinkling bowls, dishes and censers;
and the gold sockets for the doors of the innermost room, the Most Holy Place, and also for the doors of the main hall of the temple.
las copas, las despabiladeras, los aspersorios, la vajilla y los incensarios;
y los goznes de oro para las puertas del Lugar Santísimo, como también para las puertas de la nave central del templo.
Verse 51
When all the work King Solomon had done for the temple of the Lord was finished, he brought in the things his father David had dedicated—the silver and gold and the furnishings—and he placed them in the treasuries of the Lord’s temple.
Una vez terminada toda la obra que el rey había mandado hacer para el templo del Señor, Salomón hizo traer el oro, la plata y los utensilios que su padre David había consagrado, y los depositó en el tesoro del templo del Señor.
