Psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.

Deus é o nosso refúgio e a nossa fortaleza,
auxílio sempre presente na adversidade.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
    and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

Por isso não temeremos,
ainda que a terra trema
    e os montes afundem no coração do mar,

though its waters roar and foam
    and the mountains quake with their surging.^[c]

ainda que estrondem as suas águas turbulentas
e os montes sejam sacudidos
    pela sua fúria.Pausa

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy place where the Most High dwells.

Há um rio cujos canais alegram
    a cidade de Deus,
o Santo Lugar onde habita o Altíssimo.

God is within her, she will not fall;
    God will help her at break of day.

Deus nela está! Não será abalada!
Deus vem em seu auxílio
    desde o romper da manhã.

Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
    he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

Nações se agitam, reinos se abalam;
ele ergue a voz, e a terra se derrete.

The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.

O Senhor dos Exércitos está conosco;
o Deus de Jacó é a nossa torre segura.Pausa

Come and see what the Lord has done,
    the desolations he has brought on the earth.

Venham! Vejam as obras do Senhor,
seus feitos estarrecedores na terra.

He makes wars cease
    to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
    he burns the shields^[d] with fire.

Ele dá fim às guerras até os confins da terra;
quebra o arco e despedaça a lança;
    destrói os escudos^[a] com fogo.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”

“Parem de lutar! Saibam que eu sou Deus!
Serei exaltado entre as nações,
    serei exaltado na terra.”

The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.
