Deuteronomy 10

At that time the Lord said to me, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones and come up to me on the mountain. Also make a wooden ark.^[a]

În vremea aceea Domnul mi-a zis: «Taie două table de piatră asemeni celor dintâi şi urcă-te la Mine pe munte; să faci şi un chivot din lemn.

I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. Then you are to put them in the ark.”

Eu voi scrie pe ele cuvintele care erau pe cele dintâi, pe care tu le-ai spart. Apoi să le pui în chivot.»

So I made the ark out of acacia wood and chiseled out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I went up on the mountain with the two tablets in my hands.

Am făcut un chivot din lemn de salcâm, am tăiat două table de piatră asemeni celor dintâi şi am urcat pe munte, având cele două table în mână.

The Lord wrote on these tablets what he had written before, the Ten Commandments he had proclaimed to you on the mountain, out of the fire, on the day of the assembly. And the Lord gave them to me.

Domnul a scris pe table ceea ce a fost scris pe primele, Cele Zece Porunci, care v-au fost spuse pe munte, din mijlocul focului, în ziua adunării. Şi mi le-a dat mie.

Then I came back down the mountain and put the tablets in the ark I had made, as the Lord commanded me, and they are there now.

Apoi m-am întors, coborând de pe munte, şi am aşezat tablele în Chivotul pe care l-am făcut, după porunca Domnului, şi acolo au şi rămas.

(The Israelites traveled from the wells of Bene Jaakan to Moserah. There Aaron died and was buried, and Eleazar his son succeeded him as priest.

(Israeliţii au plecat din Beerot-Bene-Iaakan^[a] la Mosera^[b]. Acolo a murit şi a fost înmormântat Aaron, iar în locul lui a slujit ca preot Elazar, fiul său.

From there they traveled to Gudgodah and on to Jotbathah, a land with streams of water.

De acolo au plecat la Gudgoda, iar de la Gudgoda la Iotbata, o regiune bogată în izvoare de apă.

At that time the Lord set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to stand before the Lord to minister and to pronounce blessings in his name, as they still do today.

În perioada aceea, Domnul a pus deoparte seminţia lui Levi, poruncindu-i să ducă Chivotul Legământului cu Domnul, să stea înaintea Domnului ca să slujească şi să binecuvânteze în Numele Lui. Aceste lucruri le-au făcut până în ziua de azi.

That is why the Levites have no share or inheritance among their fellow Israelites; the Lord is their inheritance, as the Lord your God told them.)

De aceea Levi nu are nici un teritoriu şi nici o moştenire împreună cu fraţii săi. Domnul este moştenirea lui, după cum Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, le-a vorbit.)

Now I had stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights, as I did the first time, and the Lord listened to me at this time also. It was not his will to destroy you.

Am stat pe munte patruzeci de zile şi patruzeci de nopţi, ca şi mai înainte, iar Domnul m-a ascultat din nou şi n-a mai dorit să vă nimicească.

“Go,” the Lord said to me, “and lead the people on their way, so that they may enter and possess the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.”

Fear the Lord

După aceea, Domnul mi-a zis: «Ridică-te şi porneşte în călătorie în fruntea poporului, ca astfel să intre şi să ia în stăpânire ţara pe care am promis-o strămoşilor tăi că le-o voi da.»

Esenţa Legii

And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

Acum, Israele, ce altceva cere Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, de la voi, decât să vă temeţi de Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, să umblaţi în toate căile Lui, să-L iubiţi şi să-L slujiţi pe Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, din toată inima şi din tot sufletul

and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?

şi să păziţi poruncile Domnului şi hotărârile Lui, pe care eu vi le dau astăzi pentru binele vostru?

To the Lord your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.

Iată, ale Domnului, Dumnezeul vostru, sunt cerurile şi cerurile cerurilor, pământul şi tot ce este pe el.

Yet the Lord set his affection on your ancestors and loved them, and he chose you, their descendants, above all the nations—as it is today.

Domnul s-a ataşat de strămoşii voştri, iubindu-i, dar v-a ales şi pe voi, urmaşii lor, dintre toate neamurile, după cum vedeţi astăzi.

Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any longer.

De aceea circumcideţi-vă inima şi nu mai fiţi încăpăţânaţi.

For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes.

Căci Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, este Dumnezeul dumnezeilor şi Stăpânul stăpânilor^[c], Dumnezeul cel Mare, Puternic şi Înfricoşător, Care nu este părtinitor şi nu primeşte mită,

He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.

Care face dreptate orfanului şi văduvei şi iubeşte pe străin, oferindu-i pâine şi îmbrăcăminte.

And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt.

Să-l iubiţi pe străin, pentru că şi voi aţi fost străini în Egipt.

Fear the Lord your God and serve him. Hold fast to him and take your oaths in his name.

Temeţi-vă de Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, şi slujiţi-I. De El să vă ataşaţi şi în Numele Lui să juraţi.

He is the one you praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes.

El este slava voastră şi Dumnezeul vostru, Cel Ce a făcut aceste lucruri mari şi înfricoşătoare, pe care ochii voştri le-au văzut.

Your ancestors who went down into Egypt were seventy in all, and now the Lord your God has made you as numerous as the stars in the sky.

Strămoşii voştri s-au coborât în Egipt în număr de şaptezeci de suflete, dar acum Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, v-a făcut la fel de numeroşi ca stelele cerului.
