1 Thessalonians 4

As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.

În cele din urmă, fraţilor, fiindcă aţi primit învăţătură de la noi despre cum trebuie să umblaţi şi să-I fiţi plăcuţi lui Dumnezeu, aşa cum, de altfel, şi faceţi^[a], vă cerem şi vă îndemnăm în Domnul Isus să sporiţi tot mai mult în privinţa aceasta.

For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

Voi ştiţi ce porunci v-am dat, prin autoritatea Domnului Isus.

It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;

Voia lui Dumnezeu este sfinţirea voastră: să vă feriţi de desfrâu.

that each of you should learn to control your own body^[a] in a way that is holy and honorable,

Fiecare dintre voi trebuie să ştie să-şi ţină vasul^[b] în sfinţenie şi cinste,

not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;

nu în patimi, ca păgânii, care nu-L cunosc pe Dumnezeu.

and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister.^[b] The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before.

Nimeni să nu-l nedreptăţească pe fratele său şi nici să nu profite de el, pentru că Domnul îl va pedepsi pentru toate acestea, aşa cum v-am spus şi v-am avertizat.

For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.

Dumnezeu nu ne-a chemat la necurăţie, ci la sfinţenie;

Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.

de aceea, cel ce respinge aceste porunci nu respinge un om, ci pe Dumnezeu, Cel Care vă dă Duhul Sfânt.

Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other.

Cu privire la dragostea frăţească, nu aveţi nevoie să vă scriem, pentru că voi înşivă aţi fost învăţaţi de Dumnezeu să vă iubiţi unii pe alţii.

And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more,

Şi, într-adevăr, îi iubiţi pe toţi fraţii din întreaga Macedonie. Însă vă încurajăm, fraţilor, să sporiţi tot mai mult în privinţa aceasta.

and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you,

Daţi-vă toată silinţa să trăiţi liniştiţi, să vă vedeţi de-ale voastre şi să lucraţi cu mâinile voastre, aşa cum v-am poruncit,

so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

Believers Who Have Died

ca să trăiţi aşa cum se cuvine faţă de cei din afară şi să nu depindeţi de nimeni.

Venirea Domnului

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

Nu vrem să nu ştiţi, fraţilor, despre cei ce au adormit^[c], ca să nu vă întristaţi ca ceilalţi care nu au nădejde.

For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

Căci dacă credem că Isus a murit şi a înviat, credem şi că Dumnezeu îi va aduce împreună cu Isus pe cei ce au adormit în El.

According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.

Vă spunem prin Cuvântul Domnului că noi, cei vii, care vom fi rămas până la venirea Domnului, nicidecum nu o vom lua înaintea celor ce au adormit.

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

Căci Domnul Însuşi, la un strigăt de poruncă, la sunetul vocii arhanghelului şi la sunetul trâmbiţei lui Dumnezeu, Se va coborî din cer şi, mai întâi, vor învia cei morţi în Cristos,

After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

apoi noi, cei vii, care vom fi rămas, vom fi răpiţi împreună cu ei în nori, ca să-L întâlnim pe Domnul în văzduh; şi astfel vom fi întotdeauna cu Domnul.

Therefore encourage one another with these words.

De aceea, încurajaţi-vă unii pe alţii cu aceste cuvinte.
