1 Kings 16

Then the word of the Lord came to Jehu son of Hanani concerning Baasha:

Atunci Cuvântul Domnului a vorbit împotriva lui Başa prin Iehu, fiul lui Hanani:

“I lifted you up from the dust and appointed you ruler over my people Israel, but you followed the ways of Jeroboam and caused my people Israel to sin and to arouse my anger by their sins.

„Te-am ridicat din pulbere şi te-am numit conducător peste poporul Meu, Israel, dar tu ai umblat în căile lui Ieroboam şi l-ai făcut pe poporul Meu, Israel, să păcătuiască mâniindu-Mă prin păcatele lor.

So I am about to wipe out Baasha and his house, and I will make your house like that of Jeroboam son of Nebat.

De aceea îl voi nimici pe Başa împreună cu familia lui şi voi face familiei lui cum am făcut familiei lui Ieroboam, fiul lui Nebat.

Dogs will eat those belonging to Baasha who die in the city, and birds will feed on those who die in the country.”

Câinii îi vor mânca pe cei din familia lui Başa care vor muri în cetate, iar păsările cerului îi vor mânca pe cei care vor muri pe câmp.“

As for the other events of Baasha’s reign, what he did and his achievements, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?

Celelalte fapte ale lui Başa, ce a făcut el şi puterea lui nu sunt scrise oare în „Cartea cronicilor regilor lui Israel“?

Baasha rested with his ancestors and was buried in Tirzah. And Elah his son succeeded him as king.

Başa s-a culcat alături de părinţii săi şi a fost înmormântat la Tirţa, iar fiul său Ela a domnit în locul lui.

Moreover, the word of the Lord came through the prophet Jehu son of Hanani to Baasha and his house, because of all the evil he had done in the eyes of the Lord, arousing his anger by the things he did, becoming like the house of Jeroboam—and also because he destroyed it.

Elah King of Israel

Cuvântul Domnului vorbise împotriva lui Başa şi împotriva familiei lui prin profetul Iehu, fiul lui Hanani, atât din cauza tuturor relelor pe care acesta le făcuse înaintea Domnului, mâniindu-L prin faptele lui şi devenind asemenea familiei lui Ieroboam, cât şi din cauză că el nimicise familia lui Ieroboam.

Domnia lui Ela peste Israel şi complotul lui Zimri

In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah son of Baasha became king of Israel, and he reigned in Tirzah two years.

În al douăzeci şi şaselea an al domniei lui Asa, regele lui Iuda, Ela, fiul lui Başa, a început să domnească peste Israel. El a domnit la Tirţa timp de doi ani.

Zimri, one of his officials, who had command of half his chariots, plotted against him. Elah was in Tirzah at the time, getting drunk in the home of Arza, the palace administrator at Tirzah.

Slujitorul său Zimri, conducător peste jumătate dintre carele sale, a uneltit împotriva lui. Ela era la Tirţa, îmbătându-se în casa lui Arţa, cel care răspundea de palatul din Tirţa.

Zimri came in, struck him down and killed him in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah. Then he succeeded him as king.

Zimri a intrat şi l-a ucis în al douăzeci şi şaptelea an al domniei lui Asa, regele lui Iuda. Apoi a început să domnească în locul lui.

As soon as he began to reign and was seated on the throne, he killed off Baasha’s whole family. He did not spare a single male, whether relative or friend.

De îndată ce a devenit rege şi s-a aşezat pe tronul său, el a ucis toată familia lui Başa; n-a lăsat în viaţă nici un bărbat, nici dintre rudele sale, nici dintre prietenii săi.

So Zimri destroyed the whole family of Baasha, in accordance with the word of the Lord spoken against Baasha through the prophet Jehu—

Astfel, Zimri a nimicit toată familia lui Başa, potrivit cuvântului rostit de Domnul împotriva lui Başa prin profetul Iehu,

because of all the sins Baasha and his son Elah had committed and had caused Israel to commit, so that they aroused the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel, by their worthless idols.

din cauza tuturor păcatelor pe care le-au săvârşit Başa şi fiul său Ela şi prin care l-au făcut şi pe Israel să păcătuiască mâniindu-L pe Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, prin idolii lor de nimic.

As for the other events of Elah’s reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?

Zimri King of Israel

Celelalte fapte ale lui Ela şi ce a făcut el nu sunt scrise oare în „Cartea cronicilor regilor lui Israel“?

Domnia lui Zimri peste Israel şi complotul lui Omri

In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri reigned in Tirzah seven days. The army was encamped near Gibbethon, a Philistine town.

În al douăzeci şi şaptelea an al domniei lui Asa, regele lui Iuda, Zimri a domnit la Tirţa vreme de şapte zile, în timp ce poporul asedia Ghibetonul care aparţinea filistenilor.

When the Israelites in the camp heard that Zimri had plotted against the king and murdered him, they proclaimed Omri, the commander of the army, king over Israel that very day there in the camp.

Poporul care era în tabără a aflat că Zimri a uneltit împotriva regelui şi că l-a ucis. Şi în ziua aceea, chiar acolo în tabără, toţi israeliţii l-au numit rege peste Israel pe Omri, conducătorul oştirii.

Then Omri and all the Israelites with him withdrew from Gibbethon and laid siege to Tirzah.

Apoi Omri împreună cu toţi israeliţii care erau cu el s-au retras de la Ghibeton şi au asediat Tirţa.

When Zimri saw that the city was taken, he went into the citadel of the royal palace and set the palace on fire around him. So he died,

Când Zimri a văzut că cetatea a fost capturată, a intrat în fortăreaţa palatului regelui şi a dat foc palatului peste el. Astfel, el a murit

because of the sins he had committed, doing evil in the eyes of the Lord and following the ways of Jeroboam and committing the same sin Jeroboam had caused Israel to commit.

Omri King of Israel

Celelalte fapte ale lui Zimri şi uneltirea pe care a făcut-o, nu sunt scrise oare în „Cartea cronicilor regilor lui Israel“?

Then the people of Israel were split into two factions; half supported Tibni son of Ginath for king, and the other half supported Omri.

Atunci, poporul Israel s-a împărţit în două: jumătate din popor dorea să-l facă rege pe Tibni, fiul lui Ghinat, iar cealaltă jumătate, pe Omri.

But Omri’s followers proved stronger than those of Tibni son of Ginath. So Tibni died and Omri became king.

Poporul care era de partea lui Omri a triumfat asupra poporului care-l urma pe Tibni, fiul lui Ghinat. Astfel, Tibni a murit, iar Omri a devenit rege.

Domnia lui Omri peste Israel

In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, Omri became king of Israel, and he reigned twelve years, six of them in Tirzah.

Omri a început să domnească peste Israel în al treizeci şi unulea an al domniei lui Asa, regele lui Iuda, şi a domnit timp de doisprezece ani, dintre care şase în Tirţa.

He bought the hill of Samaria from Shemer for two talents^[a] of silver and built a city on the hill, calling it Samaria, after Shemer, the name of the former owner of the hill.

El a cumpărat de la Şemer dealul Samariei cu doi talanţi de argint^[a]; apoi a zidit o cetate pe deal şi i-a pus numele Samaria, după numele lui Şemer, fostul proprietar al dealului.

But Omri did evil in the eyes of the Lord and sinned more than all those before him.

Însă Omri a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului; a făcut mai mult rău decât toţi cei care fuseseră înainte de el.

He followed completely the ways of Jeroboam son of Nebat, committing the same sin Jeroboam had caused Israel to commit, so that they aroused the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel, by their worthless idols.

El a trăit întru totul ca Ieroboam, fiul lui Nebat; a trăit în păcatele prin care acesta îl făcuse şi pe Israel să păcătuiască mâniindu-L pe Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, prin idolii lor de nimic.

Celelalte fapte ale lui Omri, ce a făcut el şi puterea pe care el şi-a arătat-o, nu sunt scrise oare în „Cartea cronicilor regilor lui Israel“?

Omri rested with his ancestors and was buried in Samaria. And Ahab his son succeeded him as king.

Ahab Becomes King of Israel

Omri s-a culcat alături de părinţii săi şi a fost înmormântat în Samaria, iar fiul său Ahab a început să domnească în locul lui.

Consolidarea dinastiei lui Omri: regele Ahab

In the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, Ahab son of Omri became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria over Israel twenty-two years.

Ahab, fiul lui Omri, a început să domnească peste Israel în al treizeci şi optulea an al domniei lui Asa, regele lui Iuda. Ahab, fiul lui Omri, a domnit timp de douăzeci şi doi de ani peste Israel, în Samaria.

Ahab son of Omri did more evil in the eyes of the Lord than any of those before him.

Ahab, fiul lui Omri, a făcut mai mult rău înaintea Domnului decât toţi cei care au fost înainte de el.

He not only considered it trivial to commit the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, but he also married Jezebel daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and began to serve Baal and worship him.

Şi, ca şi cum ar fi fost puţin lucru să trăiască în păcatele lui Ieroboam, fiul lui Nebat, el şi-a mai luat-o de soţie şi pe Izabela, fiica lui Etbaal, regele sidonienilor, i-a slujit lui Baal^[b] şi i s-a închinat.

He set up an altar for Baal in the temple of Baal that he built in Samaria.

El a aşezat un altar pentru Baal în templul lui Baal, pe care-l zidise în Samaria

Ahab also made an Asherah pole and did more to arouse the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel, than did all the kings of Israel before him.

şi a făcut un stâlp al Aşerei^[c]. Ahab a făcut mai mult rău decât toţi regii lui Israel care au fost înainte de el, mâniindu-L pe Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel.

In Ahab’s time, Hiel of Bethel rebuilt Jericho. He laid its foundations at the cost of his firstborn son Abiram, and he set up its gates at the cost of his youngest son Segub, in accordance with the word of the Lord spoken by Joshua son of Nun.

În timpul domniei lui, Hiel din Betel a rezidit Ierihonul; i-a pus temeliile cu preţul întâiului său născut, Abiram, şi i-a aşezat porţile cu preţul lui Segub, cel mai tânăr dintre fiii săi, potrivit cuvântului rostit de Domnul prin Iosua, fiul lui Nun.
