Abimelek son of Jerub-Baal went to his mother’s brothers in Shechem and said to them and to all his mother’s clan,

وَمَضَى أَبِيمَالِكُ بْنُ يَرُبَّعَلَ إِلَى شَكِيمَ لِزِيَارَةِ أَخْوَالِهِ وَقَالَ لِعَشِيرَةِ أُمِّهِ:

“Ask all the citizens of Shechem, ‘Which is better for you: to have all seventy of Jerub-Baal’s sons rule over you, or just one man?’ Remember, I am your flesh and blood.”

«اسْأَلُوا جَمِيعَ أَهْلِ شَكِيمَ: أَيُّهُمَا أَفْضَلُ لَهُمْ: أَنْ يَحْكُمَهُمْ سَبْعُونَ رَجُلاً هُمْ أَبْنَاءُ يَرُبَّعَلَ، أَمْ أَنْ يَتَسَلَّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَجُلٌ وَاحِدٌ؟ وَتَذَكَّرُوا أَنَّنِي مِنْ لَحْمِكُمْ وَعَظْمِكُمْ».

When the brothers repeated all this to the citizens of Shechem, they were inclined to follow Abimelek, for they said, “He is related to us.”

فَشَرَعَ أَخْوَالُهُ يَدْعُونَ لَهُ بَيْنَ أَهْلِ شَكِيمَ حَتَّى اسْتَمَالُوا قُلُوبَهُمْ وَرَاءَ أَبِيمَالِكَ قَائِلِينَ: «هُوَ أَخُونَا».

They gave him seventy shekels^[a] of silver from the temple of Baal-Berith, and Abimelek used it to hire reckless scoundrels, who became his followers.

وَأَعْطَوْهُ سَبْعِينَ شَاقِلَ فِضَّةٍ (نَحْوَ ثَمَانِيَةِ كِيلُو جِرَامَاتٍ وَنِصْفٍ) مِنْ مَعْبَدِ بَعْلِ بَرِيثَ اسْتَأْجَرَ بِها أَتْبَاعاً مِنَ الأَوْغَادِ الطَّائِشِينَ،

He went to his father’s home in Ophrah and on one stone murdered his seventy brothers, the sons of Jerub-Baal. But Jotham, the youngest son of Jerub-Baal, escaped by hiding.

وَاقْتَحَمَ بِهِمْ بَيْتَ أَبِيهِ فِي عَفْرَةَ، حَيْثُ ذَبَحَ إِخْوَتَهُ السَّبْعِينَ عَلَى حَجَرٍ وَاحِدٍ، وَلَمْ يَنْجُ إِلّا يُوثَامُ بْنُ يَرُبَّعَلَ الأَصْغَرُ الَّذِي تَمَكَّنَ مِنَ الاخْتِبَاءِ.

Then all the citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo gathered beside the great tree at the pillar in Shechem to crown Abimelek king.

فَاجْتَمَعَ أَهْلُ شَكِيمَ وَجَمِيعُ سُكَّانِ الْقَلْعَةِ وَنَصَبُوا أَبِيمَالِكَ مَلِكاً عِنْدَ بَلُّوطَةِ النَّصَبِ الَّذِي فِي شَكِيمَ.

When Jotham was told about this, he climbed up on the top of Mount Gerizim and shouted to them, “Listen to me, citizens of Shechem, so that God may listen to you.

وَبَلَغَ الْخَبَرُ يُوثَامَ فَذَهَبَ وَوَقَفَ عَلَى قِمَّةِ جَبَلِ جِرِزِّيمَ وَنَادَى بِصَوْتٍ مُرْتَفِعٍ قَائِلاً لَهُمْ: «أَنْصِتُوا لِي يَا أَهْلَ شَكِيمَ حَتَّى يَسْتَمِعَ لَكُمُ اللهُ.

One day the trees went out to anoint a king for themselves. They said to the olive tree, ‘Be our king.’

ذَاتَ مَرَّةٍ ذَهَبَتِ الأَشْجَارُ لِتَنْصِبَ عَلَيْهَا مَلِكاً، فَقَالَتْ لِلزَّيْتُونَةِ: ’امْلِكِي عَلَيْنَا‘.

“But the olive tree answered, ‘Should I give up my oil, by which both gods and humans are honored, to hold sway over the trees?’

فَأَجَابَتِ الزَّيْتُونَةُ: ’أَأَتَخَلَّى عَنْ زَيْتِي الَّذِي يُكَرِّمُونَ بِهِ اللهَ وَالنَّاسَ لِكَيْ أَمْلِكَ عَلَى الأَشْجَارِ؟‘.

“Next, the trees said to the fig tree, ‘Come and be our king.’

فَقَالَتِ الأَشْجَارُ لِلتِّينَةِ: ’تَعَالَيْ أَنْتِ وَامْلِكِي عَلَيْنَا‘.

“But the fig tree replied, ‘Should I give up my fruit, so good and sweet, to hold sway over the trees?’

فَأَجَابَتِ التِّينَةُ: ’أَأَهْجُرُ حَلاوَتِي وَثَمَرِي الطَّيِّبَ لأَصِيرَ مَلِكَةً عَلَى الأَشْجَارِ؟‘.

“Then the trees said to the vine, ‘Come and be our king.’

فَقَالَتِ الأَشْجَارُ لِلْكَرْمَةِ: ’تَعَالَيْ أَنْتِ وَامْلِكِي عَلَيْنَا‘.

“But the vine answered, ‘Should I give up my wine, which cheers both gods and humans, to hold sway over the trees?’

فَأَجَابَتْهُنَّ الْكَرْمَةُ: ’أَأَنْبِذُ خَمْرِي الَّذِي يُفَرِّحُ اللهَ وَالنَّاسَ لِكَيْ أَمْلِكَ عَلَى الأَشْجَارِ؟‘

“Finally all the trees said to the thornbush, ‘Come and be our king.’

ثُمَّ قَالَتْ جَمِيعُ الأَشْجَارِ لِلْعَوْسَجِ: ’تَعَالَ أَنْتَ وَصِرْ عَلَيْنَا مَلِكاً‘.

“The thornbush said to the trees, ‘If you really want to anoint me king over you, come and take refuge in my shade; but if not, then let fire come out of the thornbush and consume the cedars of Lebanon!’

فَقَالَ الْعَوْسَجُ: ’إِنْ كُنْتُمْ حَقّاً تَنْصِبُونَنَي عَلَيْكُمْ مَلِكاً، فَتَعَالَوْا وَاحْتَمُوا تَحْتَ ظِلِّي، وَإلَّا فَإِنَّ نَاراً تَنْدَلِعُ مِنَ الْعَوْسَجِ وَتَلْتَهِمُ أَرْزَ لُبْنَانَ‘.

“Have you acted honorably and in good faith by making Abimelek king? Have you been fair to Jerub-Baal and his family? Have you treated him as he deserves?

وَالآنَ، إِنْ كُنْتُمْ قَدْ تَصَرَّفْتُمْ بِحَقٍّ وَصَوَابٍ عِنْدَمَا مَلَّكْتُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ أَبْيمَالِكَ، وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ قَدْ أَحْسَنْتُمْ إِلَى يَرُبَّعَلَ وَإِلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ فَكَافَأْتُمُوهُ خَيْراً عَلَى عَمَلِ يَدَيْهِ.

Remember that my father fought for you and risked his life to rescue you from the hand of Midian.

فَقَدْ حَارَبَ أَبِي عَنْكُمْ وَجَازَفَ بِحَيَاتِهِ وَأَنْقَذَكُمْ مِنْ قَبْضَةِ الْمِدْيَانِيِّينَ.

But today you have revolted against my father’s family. You have murdered his seventy sons on a single stone and have made Abimelek, the son of his female slave, king over the citizens of Shechem because he is related to you.

أَمَّا أَنْتُمْ فَقَدْ ثُرْتُمُ الْيَوْمَ عَلَى بَيْتِ أَبِي وَذَبَحْتُمْ أَبْنَاءَهُ السَّبْعِينَ عَلَى حَجَرٍ وَاحِدٍ، وَمَلَّكْتُمْ أَبِيمَالِكَ ابْنَ جَارِيَتِهِ عَلَى أَهْلِ شَكِيمَ لأَنَّهُ أَخُوكُمْ.

So have you acted honorably and in good faith toward Jerub-Baal and his family today? If you have, may Abimelek be your joy, and may you be his, too!

فَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ قَدْ تَصَرَّفْتُمْ بِحَقٍّ وَصَوَابٍ مَعَ يَرُبَّعَلَ وَأَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ، فَهَنِيئاً لَكُمْ بِأَبِيمَالِكَ وَهَنِيئاً لَهُ بِكُمْ.

But if you have not, let fire come out from Abimelek and consume you, the citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo, and let fire come out from you, the citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo, and consume Abimelek!”

وَإلَّا فَلْتَنْدَلِعْ نَارٌ مِنْ أَبِيمَالِكَ وَتَلْتَهِمْ أَهْلَ شَكِيمَ وَسُكَّانَ الْقَلْعَةِ، وَلْتَنْدَلِعْ نَارٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ شَكِيمَ وَمِنْ سُكَّانِ الْقَلْعَةِ وَتَلْتَهِمْ أَبِيمَالِكَ».

Then Jotham fled, escaping to Beer, and he lived there because he was afraid of his brother Abimelek.

ثُمَّ هَرَبَ يُوثَامُ إِلَى مَدِينَةِ بِئْرَ خَوْفاً مِنْ أَخِيهِ، وَأَقَامَ هُنَاكَ.

After Abimelek had governed Israel three years,

وَتَسَلَّطَ أَبِيمَالِكُ عَلَى إِسْرَائِيلَ فَتْرَةَ ثَلاثِ سَنَوَاتٍ.

God stirred up animosity between Abimelek and the citizens of Shechem so that they acted treacherously against Abimelek.

وَمَا لَبِثَ الرَّبُّ أَنْ جَعَلَ الْعَلاقَةَ تَسُوءُ بَيْنَ أَبِيمَالِكَ وَأَهْلِ شَكِيمَ، فَخَانَ أَهْلُ شَكِيمَ أَبِيمَالِكَ،

God did this in order that the crime against Jerub-Baal’s seventy sons, the shedding of their blood, might be avenged on their brother Abimelek and on the citizens of Shechem, who had helped him murder his brothers.

عِقَاباً لَهُ لِمَا جَنَاهُ مِنْ ظُلْمٍ بِحَقِّ أَبْنَاءِ يَرُبَّعَلَ السَّبْعِينَ الَّذِينَ سَفَكَ دِمَاءَهُمْ، وَانْتِقَاماً مِنْ أَهْلِ شَكِيمَ الَّذِينَ آزَرُوهُ عَلَى ذَبْحِ إِخْوَتِهِ.

In opposition to him these citizens of Shechem set men on the hilltops to ambush and rob everyone who passed by, and this was reported to Abimelek.

فَنَصَبَ أَهْلُ شَكِيمَ لأَبِيمَالِكَ كَمِيناً عَلَى قِمَمِ الْجِبَالِ وَرَاحُوا يَنْهَبُونَ كُلَّ عَابِرِي الطَّرِيقِ. فَأُبْلِغَ أَبِيمَالِكُ بِالأَمْرِ.

Now Gaal son of Ebed moved with his clan into Shechem, and its citizens put their confidence in him.

وَجَاءَ جَعَلُ بْنُ عَابِدٍ مَعَ إِخْوَتِهِ إِلَى شَكِيمَ فَوَثِقَ بِهِ أَهْلُهَا.

After they had gone out into the fields and gathered the grapes and trodden them, they held a festival in the temple of their god. While they were eating and drinking, they cursed Abimelek.

ثُمَّ خَرَجُوا إِلَى الْحُقُولِ وَجَنَوْا غَلّاتِ كُرُومِهِمْ وَصَنَعُوا مِنْهَا خَمْراً، وَاحْتَفَلُوا وَدَخَلُوا إِلَى مَعْبَدِ إِلَهِهِمْ وَأَكَلُوا وَشَرِبُوا وَلَعَنُوا أَبِيمَالِكَ.

Then Gaal son of Ebed said, “Who is Abimelek, and why should we Shechemites be subject to him? Isn’t he Jerub-Baal’s son, and isn’t Zebul his deputy? Serve the family of Hamor, Shechem’s father! Why should we serve Abimelek?

فَقَالَ جَعَلُ بْنُ عَابِدٍ: «مَنْ هُوَ أَبِيمَالِكُ وَمَنْ هُوَ شَكِيمُ حَتَّى نَخْدُمَهُ؟ أَمَا هُوَ ابْنُ يَرُبَّعَلَ وَزَبُولُ هُوَ وَكِيلُهُ؟ اخْدِمُوا رِجَالَ حَمُورَ أَبِي شَكِيمَ. لِمَاذَا عَلَيْنَا أَنْ نَخْدُمَ أَبِيمَالِكَ؟

If only this people were under my command! Then I would get rid of him. I would say to Abimelek, ‘Call out your whole army!’”^[b]

لَوْ صَارَ هَذَا الشَّعْبُ تَحْتَ إِمْرَتِي لَعَزَلْتُ أَبِيمَالِكَ، وَلَقُلْتُ لَهُ: جَهِّزْ جَيْشَكَ وَاخْرُجْ».

When Zebul the governor of the city heard what Gaal son of Ebed said, he was very angry.

وَعِنْدَمَا سَمِعَ زَبُولُ رَئِيسُ الْمَدِينَةِ كَلامَ جَعَلَ بْنِ عَابِدٍ، احْتَدَمَ غَضَبُهُ.

Under cover he sent messengers to Abimelek, saying, “Gaal son of Ebed and his clan have come to Shechem and are stirring up the city against you.

وَبَعَثَ بِرُسُلٍ إِلَى أَبِيمَالِكَ فِي تُرْمَةَ قَائِلاً: «قَدْ وَفَدَ جَعَلُ بْنُ عَابِدٍ وَإخْوَتُهُ إِلَى مَدِينَةِ شَكِيمَ، وَأَثَارُوا الْمَدِينَةَ ضِدَّكَ.

Now then, during the night you and your men should come and lie in wait in the fields.

فَالآنَ قُمْ لَيْلاً أَنْتَ وَمَنْ مَعَكَ مِنَ الْجَيْشِ وَاكْمُنْ فِي الْحَقْلِ،

In the morning at sunrise, advance against the city. When Gaal and his men come out against you, seize the opportunity to attack them.”

وَفِي الصَّبَاحِ عِنْدَ شُرُوقِ الشَّمْسِ تُبَكِّرُ بِاقْتِحَامِ الْمَدِينَةِ. وَعِنْدَمَا يَخْرُجُ جَعَلُ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ مِنَ الْمُحَارِبِينَ لِقِتَالِكَ تَفْعَلُ بِهِ كَمَا تَشَاءُ».

So Abimelek and all his troops set out by night and took up concealed positions near Shechem in four companies.

فَجَدَّ أَبِيمَالِكُ وَجَيْشُهُ فِي السَّيْرِ لَيْلاً وَانْقَسَمُوا فِي فِرَقٍ أَرْبَعَ، وَكَمَنُوا لأَهْلِ شَكِيمَ.

Now Gaal son of Ebed had gone out and was standing at the entrance of the city gate just as Abimelek and his troops came out from their hiding place.

وَعِنْدَمَا خَرَجَ جَعَلُ بْنُ عَابِدٍ وَوَقَفَ عِنْدَ مَدْخَلِ بَوَّابَةِ الْمَدِينَةِ تَحَرَّكَ أَبِيمَالِكُ وَرِجَالُهُ مِنْ مَكَامِنِهِمْ.

When Gaal saw them, he said to Zebul, “Look, people are coming down from the tops of the mountains!”

Zebul replied, “You mistake the shadows of the mountains for men.”

فَرَآهُمْ جَعَلُ، فَقَالَ لِزَبُولَ: «هُوَذَا رِجَالٌ مُنْحَدِرُونَ مِنْ قِمَمِ الْجِبَالِ». فَأَجَابَهُ زَبُولُ: «إِنَّكَ تَرَى ظِلالَ الْجِبَالِ وَكَأَنَّهَا رِجَالٌ».

But Gaal spoke up again: “Look, people are coming down from the central hill,^[c] and a company is coming from the direction of the diviners’ tree.”

فَعَادَ جَعَلُ يَقُولُ أَيْضاً: «هُوَذَا رِجَالٌ مُنْحَدِرُونَ مِنَ الْمُرْتَفَعَاتِ، وَهَا هِيَ فِرْقَةٌ قَادِمَةٌ عَنْ طَرِيقِ بَلُّوطَةِ الْعَائِفِينَ».

Then Zebul said to him, “Where is your big talk now, you who said, ‘Who is Abimelek that we should be subject to him?’ Aren’t these the men you ridiculed? Go out and fight them!”

فَأَجَابَهُ زَبُولُ: «أَيْنَ هُوَ تَبَجُّحُكَ الآنَ حِينَ قُلْتَ: مَنْ هُوَ أَبِيمَالِكُ حَتَّى نَخْدُمَهُ؟ أَلَيْسَ هَؤُلاءِ هُمُ الرِّجَالُ الَّذِينَ سَخِرْتَ مِنْهُمْ؟ فَاخْرُجِ الآنَ وَحَارِبْهُ!».

So Gaal led out^[d] the citizens of Shechem and fought Abimelek.

فَخَرَجَ جَعَلُ فِي طَلِيعَةِ أَهْلِ شَكِيمَ وَحَارَبَ أَبِيمَالِكَ.

Abimelek chased him all the way to the entrance of the gate, and many were killed as they fled.

غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ انْهَزَمَ أَمَامَهُ وَسَقَطَ عَدَدٌ غَفِيرٌ مِنَ الْقَتْلَى عَلَى طُولِ الطَّرِيقِ إِلَى بَوَّابَةِ الْمَدِينَةِ.

Then Abimelek stayed in Arumah, and Zebul drove Gaal and his clan out of Shechem.

وَاسْتَقَرَّ أَبِيمَالِكُ فِي أَرُومَةَ، وَطَرَدَ زَبُولُ جَعَلا وَإِخْوَتَهُ مِنْ شَكِيمَ.

The next day the people of Shechem went out to the fields, and this was reported to Abimelek.

وَفِي الْيَوْمِ التَّالِي خَرَجَ أَهْلُ شَكِيمَ إِلَى الْحَقْلِ لِلْحَرْبِ، فَأُبْلِغَ أَبِيمَالِكُ بِالأَمْرِ،

So he took his men, divided them into three companies and set an ambush in the fields. When he saw the people coming out of the city, he rose to attack them.

فَقَسَمَ جَيْشَهُ إِلَى ثَلاثِ فِرَقٍ وَكَمَنَ فِي الْحَقْلِ، وَإذَا بِأَهْلِ شَكِيمَ قَدْ بَرَزُوا مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ فَانْقَضَّ عَلَيْهِمْ وَكَسَرَهُمْ.

Abimelek and the companies with him rushed forward to a position at the entrance of the city gate. Then two companies attacked those in the fields and struck them down.

وَاقْتَحَمَ أَبِيمَالِكُ وَفِرْقَتُهُ طَرِيقَهُ إِلَى مَدْخَلِ بَوَّابَةِ الْمَدِينَةِ وَتَمَرْكَزَ هُنَاكَ. وَهَاجَمَتِ الفِرْقَتَانِ الأُخْرَيَانِ كُلُّ مَنْ كَانُوا فِي الْحَقْلِ وَأَبَادَتَاهُمْ.

All that day Abimelek pressed his attack against the city until he had captured it and killed its people. Then he destroyed the city and scattered salt over it.

وَظَلَّتْ رَحَى الْحَرْبِ دَائِرَةً طَوَالَ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ حَتَّى اسْتَوْلَى أَبِيمَالِكُ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ وَقَضَى عَلَى أَهْلِهَا وَهَدَمَهَا وَزَرَعَهَا مِلْحاً.

On hearing this, the citizens in the tower of Shechem went into the stronghold of the temple of El-Berith.

وَحِينَ بَلَغَ الْخَبَرُ أَهْلَ بُرْجِ شَكِيمَ تَحَصَّنُوا فِي قَلْعَةِ مَعْبَدِ إِيلِ بَرِيثَ.

When Abimelek heard that they had assembled there,

فَعَلِمَ أَبِيمَالِكُ أَنَّ جَمِيعَ أَهْلِ بُرْجِ شَكِيمَ قَدْ تَحَصَّنُوا فِي الْقَلْعَةِ،

he and all his men went up Mount Zalmon. He took an ax and cut off some branches, which he lifted to his shoulders. He ordered the men with him, “Quick! Do what you have seen me do!”

فَارْتَقَى هُوَ وَجَيْشُهُ جَبَلَ صَلْمُونَ، وَأَخَذَ فَأْساً بِيَدِهِ وَقَطَعَ غُصْنَ شَجَرَةٍ وَرَفَعَهُ وَوَضَعَهُ عَلَى كَتِفِهِ، وَقَالَ لِرِجَالِهِ: «كُلَّ مَا تَرَوْنَنِي أَفْعَلُهُ فَأَسْرِعُوا وَافْعَلُوا مِثْلِي».

So all the men cut branches and followed Abimelek. They piled them against the stronghold and set it on fire with the people still inside. So all the people in the tower of Shechem, about a thousand men and women, also died.

فَقَطَعَ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنَ الْجَيْشِ غُصْناً وَسَارُوا خَلْفَ أَبِيمَالِكَ إِلَى الْقَلْعَةِ حَيْثُ كَوَّمُوا الأَغْصَانَ وَأَحْرَقُوا الْقَلْعَةَ بِمَنْ فِيهَا. فَمَاتَ جَمِيعُ أَهْلِ بُرْجِ شَكِيمَ وَكَانُوا نَحْوَ أَلْفِ رَجُلٍ وَامْرَأَةٍ.

Next Abimelek went to Thebez and besieged it and captured it.

ثُمَّ تَوَجَّهَ أَبِيمَالِكُ إِلَى تَابَاصَ وَهَاجَمَهَا وَاسْتَوْلَى عَلَيْهَا.

Inside the city, however, was a strong tower, to which all the men and women—all the people of the city—had fled. They had locked themselves in and climbed up on the tower roof.

فَلَجَأَ جَمِيعُ الرِّجَالِ وَالنِّسَاءِ وَسَائِرُ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ إِلَى بُرْجٍ حَصِينٍ قَائِمٍ فِي وَسَطِ الْمَدِينَةِ، وَأَغْلَقُوا أَبْوَابَهُ خَلْفَهُمْ، وَصَعِدُوا إِلَى سَطْحِ الْبُرْجِ.

Abimelek went to the tower and attacked it. But as he approached the entrance to the tower to set it on fire,

فَحَاصَرَ أَبِيمَالِكُ الْبُرْجَ وَحَارَبَهُ، وَاقْتَرَبَ مِنْ بَابِ الْبُرْجِ لِيُحْرِقَهُ بِالنَّارِ،

a woman dropped an upper millstone on his head and cracked his skull.

فَأَلْقَتِ امْرَأَةٌ حَجَرَ رَحَى عَلَى رَأْسِهِ فَشَجَّتْ جُمْجُمَتَهُ.

Hurriedly he called to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and kill me, so that they can’t say, ‘A woman killed him.’” So his servant ran him through, and he died.

فَاسْتَدْعَى عَلَى التَّوِّ حَامِلَ سِلاحِهِ وَقَالَ لَهُ: «اخْتَرِطْ سَيْفَكَ وَاقْتُلْنِي لِئَلّا يَقُولُوا عَنِّي: قَتَلَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ». فَطَعَنَهُ بِالسَّيْفِ فَمَاتَ.

When the Israelites saw that Abimelek was dead, they went home.

فَلَمَّا رَأَى رِجَالُ أَبِيمَالِكَ أَنَّ قَائِدَهُمْ قَدْ مَاتَ انْصَرَفَ كُلٌّ مِنْهُمْ إِلَى مَكَانِهِ.

Thus God repaid the wickedness that Abimelek had done to his father by murdering his seventy brothers.

وَهَكَذَا عَاقَبَ اللهُ أَبِيمَالِكَ عَلَى جَرِيمَتِهِ الَّتِي ارْتَكَبَهَا بِحَقِّ أَبِيهِ حِينَ قَتَلَ إِخْوَتَهُ السَّبْعِينَ.

God also made the people of Shechem pay for all their wickedness. The curse of Jotham son of Jerub-Baal came on them.

وَكَذِلكَ رَدَّ اللهُ شَرَّ أَهْلِ شَكِيمَ عَلَى رُؤُوسِهِمْ، وَبِذَلِكَ تَحَقَّقَتْ لَعْنَةُ يُوثَامَ بْنِ يَرُبَّعَلَ.
