Verse 1
Now these are the people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had taken captive to Babylon (they returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to their own town,
وَهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ أَهْلُ الْبِلادِ الَّذِينَ عَادُوا مِنَ السَّبْيِ، مِمَّنْ سَبَاهُمْ نَبُوخَذْنَصَّرُ مَلِكُ بَابِلَ إِلَى بَابِلَ، وَرَجَعُوا إِلَى أُورُشَلِيمَ وَيَهُوذَا، لِيُقِيمَ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ فِي مَدِينَتِهِ.
Verse 2
in company with Zerubbabel, Joshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum and Baanah):

The list of the men of the people of Israel:

وَقَدْ جَاءُوا بِقِيَادَةِ زَرُبَّابِلَ، وَيَشُوعَ، وَنَحَمْيَا، وَسَرَايَا، وَرَعْلايَا، وَمُرْدَخَايَ، وَبِلْشَانَ، وَمِسْفَارَ، وَبِغْوَايَ وَرَحُومَ، وَبَعْنَةَ. وَهَذَا بَيَانٌ بِالْعَائِدِينَ مِنْ شَعْبِ إِسْرَائِيلَ:

وَبَنُو بَرْقُوسَ وَسِيسَرَا وَثَامَحَ،

وَبَنُو نَصِيحَ وَحَطِيفَا.

The descendants of the servants of Solomon:

وَعَادَ مِنَ السَّبْيِ مِنْ نَسْلِ خُدَّامِ سُلَيْمَانَ بَنُو سَوْطَايَ وَهَسُّوفَرَثَ وَفَرُودَا،
Verse 56
Jaala, Darkon, Giddel,
وَبَنُو يَعْلَةَ وَدَرْقُونَ وَجَدِّيلَ،
Verse 57
Shephatiah, Hattil,
Pokereth-Hazzebaim and Ami
وَشَفَطْيَا وَحَطِّيلَ وَفُوخَرَةَ الظِّبَاءِ وَآمِي.
Verse 58
The temple servants and the descendants of the servants of Solomon

فَكَانَتْ جُمْلَةُ الْعَائِدِينَ مِنْ خُدَّامِ الْهَيْكَلِ وَبَنِي عَبِيدِ سُلَيْمَانَ ثَلاثَ مِئَةٍ وَاثْنَيْنِ وَتِسْعِينَ.

Verse 59
The following came up from the towns of Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Kerub, Addon and Immer, but they could not show that their families were descended from Israel:

وَهَذَا بَيَانٌ بِالَّذِينَ قَدِمُوا مِنْ تَلِّ مِلْحٍ وَتَلِّ حَرْشَا وَكَرُوبَ وَأَدَّانَ وَإِمِّيرَ، مِمَّنْ عَجَزُوا عَنْ إِثْبَاتِ انْتِمَاءِ عَائِلاتِهِمْ إِلَى نَسْلِ إِسْرَائِيلَ:
Verse 60
The descendants of
Delaiah, Tobiah and Nekoda652

بَنُو دَلايَا وَطُوبِيَّا وَنَقُودَا، وَجُمْلَتُهُمْ سِتُّ مِئَةٍ وَاثْنَانِ وَخَمْسُونَ.
Verse 61
And from among the priests:

The descendants of
Hobaiah, Hakkoz and Barzillai (a man who had married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by that name).

وَمِنْ بَنِي الْكَهَنَةِ: بَنُو حَبَايَا وَهَقُّوصَ وَبَرْزِلّايَ الَّذِي تَزَوَّجَ إِحْدَى بَنَاتِ بَرْزِلّايَ الْجِلْعَادِيِّ، وَتَسَمَّى بِاسْمِهِمْ.
Verse 62
These searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean.
وَقَدْ بَحَثَ هَؤُلاءِ عَنْ أَسْمَاءِ عَائِلاتِهِمْ فِي سِجِلَّاتِ أَنْسَابِ الْكَهَنَةِ فَلَمْ يَعْثُرُوا عَلَيْهَا فَمُنِعُوا مِنْ خِدْمَةِ الْكَهَنُوتِ،
Verse 63
The governor ordered them not to eat any of the most sacred food until there was a priest ministering with the Urim and Thummim.

وَحَرَّمَ عَلَيْهِمِ الْحَاكِمُ الأَكْلَ مِنْ طَعَامِ الْكَهَنَةِ إِلَى أَنْ يَحْضُرَ كَاهِنٌ يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يَسْتَخْدِمَ الأُورِيمَ وَالتُّمِّيمَ (لِيُعْلِنَ لَهُ الرَّبُّ صِحَّةَ نَسَبِهِمْ إِلَى الْكَهَنَةِ).
Verse 64
The whole company numbered 42,360,
فَكَانَ مَجْمُوعُ الرَّاجِعِينَ مِنَ السَّبْيِ: اثْنَيْنِ وَأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفاً وَثَلاثَ مِئَةٍ وَسِتِّينَ.
Verse 65
besides their 7,337 male and female slaves; and they also had 200 male and female singers.
فَضْلاً عَنْ عَبِيدِهِمْ وَإِمَائِهِمْ وَعَدَدُهُمْ سَبْعَةُ آلافٍ وَثَلاثُ مِئَةٍ وَسَبْعَةٌ وَثَلاثُونَ بِالإِضَافَةِ إِلَى مِئَتَيْنِ مِنَ الْمُغَنِّينَ وَالْمُغَنِّيَاتِ.
Verse 66
They had 736 horses, 245 mules,
وَكَانَ مَعَهُمْ مِنَ الْخَيْلِ سَبْعُ مِئَةٍ وَسِتَّةٌ وَثَلاثُونَ، وَمِنَ الْبِغَالِ مِئَتَانِ وَخَمْسَةٌ وَأَرْبَعُونَ،
Verse 67
435 camels and 6,720 donkeys.

وَمِنَ الْجِمَالِ أَرْبَعُ مِئَةٍ وَخَمْسَةٌ وَثَلاثُونَ، وَمِنَ الْحَمِيرِ سِتَّةُ آلافٍ وَسَبْعُ مِئَةٍ وَعِشْرُونَ.

Verse 68
When they arrived at the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, some of the heads of the families gave freewill offerings toward the rebuilding of the house of God on its site.
وَتَبَرَّعَ بَعْضُ رُؤَسَاءِ الْعَائِلاتِ لَدَى وُصُولِهِمْ إِلَى أُورُشَلِيمَ لِبِنَاءِ بَيْتِ الرَّبِّ فِي مَوْقِعِهِ الأَصْلِيِّ،
Verse 69
According to their ability they gave to the treasury for this work 61,000 darics[b] of gold, 5,000 minas[c] of silver and 100 priestly garments.

فَقَدَّمَ كُلٌّ مِنْهُمْ حَسَبَ طَاقَتِهِ لِخِزَانَةِ الْعَمَلِ، فَبَلَغَتْ تَبَرُّعَاتُهُمْ وَاحِداً وَسِتِّينَ أَلْفَ دِرْهَمٍ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ (نَحْوَ خَمْسِ مِئَةِ كِيلُو جِرَامٍ) وَخَمْسَةَ آلافٍ منّاً مِنَ الْفِضَّةِ (نَحْوَ ثَلاثَةِ أَطْنَانٍ) وَمِئَةَ قَمِيصٍ لِلْكَهَنَةِ.
Verse 70
The priests, the Levites, the musicians, the gatekeepers and the temple servants settled in their own towns, along with some of the other people, and the rest of the Israelites settled in their towns.

فَاسْتَوْطَنَ الْكَهَنَةُ وَاللّاوِيُّونَ وَبَعْضُ الشَّعْبِ وَالْمُغَنُّونَ وَحُرَّاسُ أَبْوَابِ الْهَيْكَلِ وَخُدَّامُهُ فِي مُدُنِهِمِ الْخَاصَّةِ بِهِمْ. أَمَّا بَقِيَّةُ شَعْبِ إِسْرَائِيلَ فَتَوَزَّعُوا عَلَى مُدُنِهِمْ.
