Verse 1
So Israel set out with all that was his, and when he reached Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.

그래서 야곱은 모든 소유를 가지고 그 곳을 떠났다. 그는 브엘세바에 이르러 자기 아버지 이삭의 하나님께 제사를 드렸다.

Verse 2
And God spoke to Israel in a vision at night and said, “Jacob! Jacob!”

“Here I am,” he replied.

그 날 밤 하나님이 환상 가운데 나타나셔서 “야곱아, 야곱아!” 하고 부르셨다. 그때 야곱이 “내가 여기 있습니다” 하고 대답하자

Verse 3
“I am God, the God of your father,” he said. “Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there.
하나님이 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “나는 하나님 곧 네 아버지의 하나님이다. 이집트로 내려가는 것을 두려워하지 말아라. 내가 거기서 [a]네 후손을 큰 민족이 되게 하겠다.

Verse 4
I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again. And Joseph’s own hand will close your eyes.”

내가 너와 함께 이집트로 내려갈 것이며 [b]네 후손을 인도하여 다시 이 땅으로 올라오게 할 것이다. 그러나 너는 요셉이 지켜 보는 가운데 이집트에서 죽을 것이다.”

Verse 5
Then Jacob left Beersheba, and Israel’s sons took their father Jacob and their children and their wives in the carts that Pharaoh had sent to transport him.
야곱이 브엘세바에서 떠날 때 그의 아들들은 바로가 보낸 수레에 자기들의 아버지 야곱과 처자들을 태웠다.

Verse 6
So Jacob and all his offspring went to Egypt, taking with them their livestock and the possessions they had acquired in Canaan.
그들은 가나안 땅에서 얻은 가축과 모든 재산을 가지고 이집트로 갔는데 야곱은 그의 모든 자손,

Verse 7
Jacob brought with him to Egypt his sons and grandsons and his daughters and granddaughters—all his offspring.

곧 그의 아들들과 손자들과 딸들과 손녀들을 데리고 이집트로 내려갔다.

Verse 8
These are the names of the sons of Israel (Jacob and his descendants) who went to Egypt:

Reuben the firstborn of Jacob.

야곱과 함께 이집트로 내려간 그의 가족들은 다음과 같다: 야곱의 맏아들인 르우벤,

Verse 9
The sons of Reuben:

Hanok, Pallu, Hezron and Karmi.

르우벤의 아들인 하녹, 발루, 헤스론, 갈미;

Verse 10
The sons of Simeon:

Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman.

시므온과 그의 아들인 여무엘, 야민, 오핫, 야긴, 소할, 그리고 가나안 여자에게서 태어난 사울;

Verse 11
The sons of Levi:

Gershon, Kohath and Merari.

레위와 그의 아들인 게르손, 고핫, 므라리;

Verse 12
The sons of Judah:

Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez and Zerah (but Er and Onan had died in the land of Canaan).

The sons of Perez:

Hezron and Hamul.

유다와 그의 아들인 엘, 오난, 셀라, 베레스, 세라이며 엘과 오난은 가나안 땅에서 죽었다. 그리고 베레스의 아들인 헤스론과 하물;

Verse 13
The sons of Issachar:

Tola, Puah,[a] Jashub[b] and Shimron.

잇사갈과 그의 아들인 돌라, [c]부아, 야숩, 시므론;

Verse 14
The sons of Zebulun:

Sered, Elon and Jahleel.

스불론과 그의 아들인 세렛, 엘론, 얄르엘이다.

Verse 15
These were the sons Leah bore to Jacob in Paddan Aram,[c] besides his daughter Dinah. These sons and daughters of his were thirty-three in all.

이상은 레아가 [d]메소포타미아에서 야곱에게 낳은 아들들과 그 자손들이며 이들은 그녀의 딸 디나를 포함하여 남녀 모두 33명이었다.

Verse 16
The sons of Gad:

Zephon,[d] Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi and Areli.

그리고 갓과 그의 아들인 [e]스본, 학기, 수니, 에스본, 에리, 아로디, 아렐리;

Verse 17
The sons of Asher:

Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi and Beriah.

Their sister was Serah.

The sons of Beriah:

Heber and Malkiel.

아셀과 그의 아들인 임나, 이스와, 이스위, 브리아, 그들의 누이 세라, 그리고 브리아의 아들인 헤벨과 말기엘이다.

Verse 18
These were the children born to Jacob by Zilpah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Leah—sixteen in all.

이상은 라반이 그의 딸 레아에게 준 여종 실바가 야곱에게 낳은 자손들로 모두 16명이었다.

Verse 19
The sons of Jacob’s wife Rachel:

Joseph and Benjamin.

야곱의 아내 라헬은 요셉과 베냐민 두 아들을 낳았는데

Verse 20
In Egypt, Manasseh and Ephraim were born to Joseph by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On.[e]

요셉은 이집트에서 [f]헬리오폴리스의 제사장 보디베라의 딸인 아스낫과 결혼하여 므낫세와 에브라임을 낳았다.

Verse 21
The sons of Benjamin:

Bela, Beker, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim and Ard.

그리고 베냐민의 아들은 벨라, 베겔, 아스벨, 게라, 나아만, 에히, 로스, 뭅빔, 훕빔, 아릇이다.

Verse 22
These were the sons of Rachel who were born to Jacob—fourteen in all.

이상은 라헬이 야곱에게 낳은 자손들로 모두 14명이었다.

Verse 23
The son of Dan:

Hushim.

또 단과 그의 아들 후심;

Verse 24
The sons of Naphtali:

Jahziel, Guni, Jezer and Shillem.

납달리와 그의 아들인 [g]야셀, 구니, 예셀, 실렘이다.

Verse 25
These were the sons born to Jacob by Bilhah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Rachel—seven in all.

이상은 라반이 그의 딸 라헬에게 준 여종 빌하가 야곱에게 낳은 자손들로 모두 7명이었다.

Verse 26
All those who went to Egypt with Jacob—those who were his direct descendants, not counting his sons’ wives—numbered sixty-six persons.
이와 같이 야곱과 함께 이집트에 내려온 사람들은 그의 며느리들 외에 모두 66명이었는데

Verse 27
With the two sons[f] who had been born to Joseph in Egypt, the members of Jacob’s family, which went to Egypt, were seventy[g] in all.

야곱과 요셉, 그리고 이집트에서 요셉에게 태어난 두 아들을 포함시키면 이집트로 내려온 야곱의 가족들은 모두 70명이었다.

야곱의 가족이 고센 땅에 정착함

Verse 28
Now Jacob sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph to get directions to Goshen. When they arrived in the region of Goshen,
야곱이 먼저 유다를 요셉에게 보내 고센에서 만나자고 하였다. 그들이 고센 땅에 도착하자

Verse 29
Joseph had his chariot made ready and went to Goshen to meet his father Israel. As soon as Joseph appeared before him, he threw his arms around his father[h] and wept for a long time.

요셉은 수레를 타고 고센으로 와서 아버지를 만나 목을 끌어안고 오랫동안 울었다.

Verse 30
Israel said to Joseph, “Now I am ready to die, since I have seen for myself that you are still alive.”

이때 야곱이 요셉에게 “네가 아직 살아 있는 것을 내 눈으로 똑똑히 보았으니 이제는 죽어도 여한이 없다” 하였다.

Verse 31
Then Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “I will go up and speak to Pharaoh and will say to him, ‘My brothers and my father’s household, who were living in the land of Canaan, have come to me.
그리고 요셉은 형들과 그들의 가족들에게 이렇게 말하였다. “내가 바로에게 가서 가나안 땅에 살던 내 형님들과 아버지의 가족들이 모두 여기에 왔다고 말해야겠습니다.

Verse 32
The men are shepherds; they tend livestock, and they have brought along their flocks and herds and everything they own.’
나는 또 왕에게 ‘그들은 목축을 하는 사람들이므로 모든 재산을 가지고 양과 소도 함께 끌고 왔습니다’ 하고 말하겠습니다.

Verse 33
When Pharaoh calls you in and asks, ‘What is your occupation?’
바로가 형님들과 여러 가족들에게 직업이 무엇이냐고 묻거든

Verse 34
you should answer, ‘Your servants have tended livestock from our boyhood on, just as our fathers did.’ Then you will be allowed to settle in the region of Goshen, for all shepherds are detestable to the Egyptians.”

‘우리는 어렸을 때부터 지금까지 우리 조상들처럼 목축을 해왔습니다’ 하고 말하십시오. 이집트 사람들이 목축하는 사람들을 천시하기 때문에 형님들과 여러 가족들은 고센 땅에서 살게 될 것입니다.”
