Verse 1

This is the account of the family line of Esau (that is, Edom).

에돔이라고도 하는 에서와 그 후손에 대한 이야기는 이렇다:

Verse 2

Esau took his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon the Hivite—

에서는 가나안 여자들과 결혼하였다. 그의 아내는 헷 사람 엘론의 딸 아다와 히위 사람 시브온의 ^[a]손녀이며 아나의 딸인 오홀리바마와

Verse 3

also Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.

이스마엘의 딸이며 느바욧의 누이인 바스맛이었다.

Verse 4

Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel,

아다는 엘리바스를 낳았고 바스맛은 르우엘을,

Verse 5

and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the sons of Esau, who were born to him in Canaan.

오홀리바마는 여우스와 얄람과 고라를 낳았다. 이들은 다 가나안 땅에서 태어난 에서의 아들들이었다.

Verse 6

Esau took his wives and sons and daughters and all the members of his household, as well as his livestock and all his other animals and all the goods he had acquired in Canaan, and moved to a land some distance from his brother Jacob.

에서는 처자들과 집안의 모든 사람들과 함께 자기 짐승과 가나안 땅에서 얻은 재산을 전부 정리하여 동생 야곱을 떠나 다른 곳으로 갔다.

Verse 7

Their possessions were too great for them to remain together; the land where they were staying could not support them both because of their livestock.

그가 떠난 것은 그 두 사람의 소유가 너무 많아 그들의 짐승을 함께 기르기에는 그 땅이 부족하였기 때문이었다.

Verse 8

So Esau (that is, Edom) settled in the hill country of Seir.

그래서 에돔이라는 에서는 세일의 산간 지역에서 살게 되었다.

Verse 9

This is the account of the family line of Esau the father of the Edomites in the hill country of Seir.

세일산 일대에 사는 에돔족의 조상이 된 에서의 후손은 이렇다:

Verse 10

These are the names of Esau’s sons:

Eliphaz, the son of Esau’s wife Adah, and Reuel, the son of Esau’s wife Basemath.

에서의 아내 아다는 엘리바스를 낳았 고 엘리바스는 데만, 오말, 스보, 가담, 그나스를 낳았으며 그의 첩 딤나는 아말렉을 낳았다. 에서의 아내 바스맛은 르우엘을 낳았고 르우엘은 나핫, 세라, 삼마, 미사를 낳았다.

Verse 11

The sons of Eliphaz:

Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam and Kenaz.

Verse 12

Esau’s son Eliphaz also had a concubine named Timna, who bore him Amalek. These were grandsons of Esau’s wife Adah.

Verse 13

The sons of Reuel:

Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These were grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath.

Verse 14

The sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon, whom she bore to Esau:

Jeush, Jalam and Korah.

그리고 시브온의 손녀이며 아나의 딸인 에서의 다른 아내 오홀리바마는 여우스와 얄람과 고라를 낳았다.

Verse 15

These were the chiefs among Esau’s descendants:

The sons of Eliphaz the firstborn of Esau:

Chiefs Teman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz,

에서의 자손 가운데 족장들은 다음과 같다: 에서의 장남 엘리바스의 아들인 데만, 오말, 스보, 그나스,

Verse 16

Korah,^[a] Gatam and Amalek. These were the chiefs descended from Eliphaz in Edom; they were grandsons of Adah.

고라, 가담, 아말렉은 에돔 땅의 엘리바스에게서 나온 족장들이며 이들은 에서의 아내 아다의 손자들이었다.

Verse 17

The sons of Esau’s son Reuel:

Chiefs Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These were the chiefs descended from Reuel in Edom; they were grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath.

에서의 아들 르우엘의 아들인 나핫, 세라, 삼마, 미사는 에돔 땅의 르우엘에게서 나온 족장들이며 이들은 에서의 아내 바스맛의 손자들이었다.

Verse 18

The sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah:

Chiefs Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the chiefs descended from Esau’s wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah.

에서의 아내 오홀리바마의 아들인 여우스, 얄람, 고라는 아나의 딸이며 에서의 아내인 오홀리바마에게서 나온 족장들이다.

Verse 19

These were the sons of Esau (that is, Edom), and these were their chiefs.

이상은 에돔이라고도 하는 에서의 자손들로서 족장이 된 사람들이다.

세일의 자손들

Verse 20

These were the sons of Seir the Horite, who were living in the region:

Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,

그 땅의 원주민인 호리족 세일의 아들은 로단, 소발, 시브온, 아나,

Verse 21

Dishon, Ezer and Dishan. These sons of Seir in Edom were Horite chiefs.

디손, 에셀, 디산인데 이들은 에돔 땅에 있는 세일의 자손 중에서 호리족의 족장들이다.

Verse 22

The sons of Lotan:

Hori and Homam.^[b] Timna was Lotan’s sister.

그리고 로단의 아들은 호리와 헤맘이고 로단의 누이는 딤나이며

Verse 23

The sons of Shobal:

Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam.

소발의 아들은 알완, 마나핫, 에발, 스보, 오남이다.

Verse 24

The sons of Zibeon:

Aiah and Anah. This is the Anah who discovered the hot springs^[c] in the desert while he was grazing the donkeys of his father Zibeon.

시브온의 아들은 아야와 아나이며 이 아나는 자기 아버지의 나귀를 먹이다가 광야에서 온천을 발견한 자이다.

Verse 25

The children of Anah:

Dishon and Oholibamah daughter of Anah.

그리고 아나의 자손은 아들 디손과 딸 오홀리바마이며

Verse 26

The sons of Dishon^[d]:

Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran and Keran.

디손의 아들은 헴단, 에스반, 이드란, 그란이고

Verse 27

The sons of Ezer:

Bilhan, Zaavan and Akan.

에셀의 아들은 빌한, 사아완, 아간이며

Verse 28

The sons of Dishan:

Uz and Aran.

디산의 아들은 우스와 아란이다.

Verse 29

These were the Horite chiefs:

Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,

이상과 같이 호리족의 족장인 로단, 소발, 시브온, 아나

Verse 30

Dishon, Ezer and Dishan. These were the Horite chiefs, according to their divisions, in the land of Seir.

The Rulers of Edom

디손, 에셀, 디산은 세일 땅에서 자기들의 집안을 따라 족장이 된 사람들이다.

에돔의 왕들

Verse 31

These were the kings who reigned in Edom before any Israelite king reigned:

이스라엘에 왕이 있기 전에 에돔 땅을 다스린 왕들을 그 순서대로 열거하면 다음과 같다:

Verse 32

Bela son of Beor became king of Edom. His city was named Dinhabah.

딘하바 사람인 브올의 아들 벨라,

Verse 33

When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah succeeded him as king.

보스라 사람인 세라의 아들 요밥,

Verse 34

When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites succeeded him as king.

데만 지방 출신인 후삼,

Verse 35

When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, succeeded him as king. His city was named Avith.

모압 들에서 미디안 족을 친 아윗 출신 브닷의 아들 하닷,

Verse 36

When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah succeeded him as king.

마스레가 출신 삼라,

Verse 37

When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the river succeeded him as king.

강변에 위치한 르호봇 출신 사울,

Verse 38

When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan son of Akbor succeeded him as king.

악볼의 아들인 바알 – 하난,

Verse 39

When Baal-Hanan son of Akbor died, Hadad^[e] succeeded him as king. His city was named Pau, and his wife’s name was Mehetabel daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-Zahab.

그리고 ^[b]바우 출신 하닷이었는데 그의 아내는 메사합의 손녀이며 마드렛의 딸인 므헤다벨이었다.

Verse 40

These were the chiefs descended from Esau, by name, according to their clans and regions:

Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,

에돔족의 조상은 에서이며 이들 부족 들이 사는 지방의 이름을 딴 에돔의 족장들은 딤나, 알와, 여뎃, 오홀리바마, 엘라, 비논, 그나스, 데만, 밉살, 막디엘, 그리고 이람이었다.

Verse 41

Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,

Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,

Verse 43

Magdiel and Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom, according to their settlements in the land they occupied.

This is the family line of Esau, the father of the Edomites.
