Verse 1
So King Solomon ruled over all Israel.
이제 솔로몬은 온 이스라엘을 다스리는 왕이 되었다.

Verse 2
And these were his chief officials:

Azariah son of Zadok—the priest;

그리고 그의 측근 신하들은 다음과 같다: 사독의 아들 아사랴는 제사장,

Verse 3
Elihoreph and Ahijah, sons of Shisha—secretaries;

Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud—recorder;

시사의 아들 엘리호렙과 아히야는 서기관, 아힐룻의 아들 여호사밧은 역사관,

Verse 4
Benaiah son of Jehoiada—commander in chief;

Zadok and Abiathar—priests;

여호야다의 아들 브나야는 군 총사령관, 사독과 아비아달은 제사장,

Verse 5
Azariah son of Nathan—in charge of the district governors;

Zabud son of Nathan—a priest and adviser to the king;

나단의 아들 아사랴는 [a]내무 장관, 나단의 아들 사붓은 왕의 제사장겸 자문관,

Verse 6
Ahishar—palace administrator;

Adoniram son of Abda—in charge of forced labor.

아히살은 궁중 대신, 그리고 압다의 아들 아도니람은 사역군의 총감독관이었다.

Verse 7
Solomon had twelve district governors over all Israel, who supplied provisions for the king and the royal household. Each one had to provide supplies for one month in the year.
솔로몬은 또 이스라엘 전국에 12명의 지방 장관을 두어 차례로 돌아가면서 일 년에 한 달씩 왕궁의 식량을 조달하게 했는데

Verse 8
These are their names:

Ben-Hur—in the hill country of Ephraim;

그들의 이름과 그 관할 지역은 다음과 같다: 에브라임 산간 지대를 관할하는 벤 – 훌,

Verse 9
Ben-Deker—in Makaz, Shaalbim, Beth Shemesh and Elon Bethhanan;

마가스와 사알빔과 벧 – 세메스와 엘론 – 벧 – 하난에는 벤 – 데겔,

Verse 10
Ben-Hesed—in Arubboth (Sokoh and all the land of Hepher were his);

아룹봇과 소고와 헤벨의 모든 땅에는 벤 – 헤셋,

Verse 11
Ben-Abinadab—in Naphoth Dor (he was married to Taphath daughter of Solomon);

돌 고원 지대에는 다밧과 결혼한 솔로몬의 사위 벤 – 아비나답,

Verse 12
Baana son of Ahilud—in Taanach and Megiddo, and in all of Beth Shan next to Zarethan below Jezreel, from Beth Shan to Abel Meholah across to Jokmeam;

다아낙과 므깃도와 이스르엘 아래 사르단 근처에 있는 벧 – 스안 전 지역과 벧 – 스안에서부터 아벨 – 므홀라와 욕느암까지의 땅에는 아힐룻의 아들 바아나,

Verse 13
Ben-Geber—in Ramoth Gilead (the settlements of Jair son of Manasseh in Gilead were his, as well as the region of Argob in Bashan and its sixty large walled cities with bronze gate bars);

길르앗의 라못과 길르앗에 있는 므낫세의 자손 야일의 모든 부락들과 바산의 아르곱 일대와 성벽과 놋빗장이 있는 60개의 성을 관할하는 벤 – 게벨,

Verse 14
Ahinadab son of Iddo—in Mahanaim;

마하나임에는 잇도의 아들 아히나답,

Verse 15
Ahimaaz—in Naphtali (he had married Basemath daughter of Solomon);

납달리에는 바스맛과 결혼한 솔로몬의 사위 아히마아스,

Verse 16
Baana son of Hushai—in Asher and in Aloth;

아셀과 알롯에는 후새의 아들 바아나,

Verse 17
Jehoshaphat son of Paruah—in Issachar;

잇사갈에는 바루아의 아들 여호사밧,

Verse 18
Shimei son of Ela—in Benjamin;

베냐민에는 엘라의 아들 시므이,

Verse 19
Geber son of Uri—in Gilead (the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and the country of Og king of Bashan). He was the only governor over the district.

Solomon’s Daily Provisions

그리고 아모리 왕 시혼과 바산 왕 옥이 다스리던 길르앗 땅은 우리의 아들 게벨이 관할하였다. 그리고 이 12명의 지방 장관 외에도 이들의 업무를 지휘, 감독하는 수석 장관 한 사람이 더 있었다.

이스라엘의 번영과 솔로몬의 지혜

Verse 20
The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand on the seashore; they ate, they drank and they were happy.
유다와 이스라엘의 인구는 바닷가의 모래알처럼 많았으며 그들은 풍족하게 먹고 마시며 행복하게 살았다.

Verse 21
And Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the Euphrates River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. These countries brought tribute and were Solomon’s subjects all his life.

그리고 솔로몬왕은 유프라테스강에서부터 블레셋 사람의 땅과 이집트 국경까지 모든 나라를 통치하였으며 그 속국들은 솔로몬이 살아 있는 동안 조공을 바치고 그를 섬겼다.

Verse 22
Solomon’s daily provisions were thirty cors[a] of the finest flour and sixty cors[b] of meal,
솔로몬의 왕궁에서 하루에 소비되는 식량은 고운 밀가루 [b]약 7킬로리터, 보통 밀가루 약 14킬로리터,

Verse 23
ten head of stall-fed cattle, twenty of pasture-fed cattle and a hundred sheep and goats, as well as deer, gazelles, roebucks and choice fowl.
축사에서 가두어 기른 소 10마리, 초원에서 놓아 기른 소 20마리, 양 100마리, 그 밖에 사슴과 영양과 노루와 살진 새들이었다.

Verse 24
For he ruled over all the kingdoms west of the Euphrates River, from Tiphsah to Gaza, and had peace on all sides.
솔로몬은 딥사에서부터 가사까지 유프라테스강 서쪽의 모든 나라를 통치하였으며 모든 인접국들과 평화롭게 지냈다.

Verse 25
During Solomon’s lifetime Judah and Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, lived in safety, everyone under their own vine and under their own fig tree.

솔로몬이 나라를 다스리는 동안 유다와 이스라엘 사람들은 단에서 브엘세바까지 모두 안전하게 살 수 있었으며 각자 자기 집과 정원에서 편히 쉴 수 있었다.

Verse 26
Solomon had four[c] thousand stalls for chariot horses, and twelve thousand horses.[d]

솔로몬에게는 전차를 끄는 말들의 외양간 40,000채와 마병 12,000명이 있었으며

Verse 27
The district governors, each in his month, supplied provisions for King Solomon and all who came to the king’s table. They saw to it that nothing was lacking.
그의 지방 장관들은 각자 자기가 맡은 달에 솔로몬왕과 그의 궁전을 위해 필요한 양식을 조달하였고

Verse 28
They also brought to the proper place their quotas of barley and straw for the chariot horses and the other horses.

Solomon’s Wisdom

또 왕궁의 말들이 먹을 보리와 짚도 공급하였다.

Verse 29
God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore.
하나님이 솔로몬에게 굉장한 지혜와 총명을 주시고 바닷가의 모래알처럼 측량할 수 없는 넓은 마음을 주셨으므로

Verse 30
Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the people of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt.
이집트 사람은 물론 동양의 그 어떤 현인도 솔로몬의 지혜를 능가할 사람이 없었다.

Verse 31
He was wiser than anyone else, including Ethan the Ezrahite—wiser than Heman, Kalkol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations.
그는 예스라 사람 에단과 마홀의 아들들인 헤만과 갈골과 다르다보다 더 지혜로워서 그의 명성은 모든 이웃 나라에 널리 퍼졌다.

Verse 32
He spoke three thousand proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five.
그는 또 3,000개의 금언을 말하였고 1,005편의 노래를 지었으며

Verse 33
He spoke about plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of walls. He also spoke about animals and birds, reptiles and fish.
레바논의 백향목으로부터 돌담에서 자라는 우슬초에 이르기까지 모든 식물을 논하고 동물과 새와 뱀과 물고기까지 연구한 훌륭한 자연학자였다.

Verse 34
From all nations people came to listen to Solomon’s wisdom, sent by all the kings of the world, who had heard of his wisdom.[e]

그래서 세상의 모든 왕들이 솔로몬의 소문을 듣고 그의 지혜를 배우려고 사절단을 보냈다.
