Genesis 8

But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.

Aber Gott hatte Noah und die Tiere in der Arche nicht vergessen. Er sorgte dafür, dass ein Wind aufkam, der das Wasser zurückgehen ließ.

Now the springs of the deep and the floodgates of the heavens had been closed, and the rain had stopped falling from the sky.

Die Quellen in der Tiefe versiegten, und die Schleusen des Himmels wurden verschlossen, so dass kein Regen mehr fiel.

The water receded steadily from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the water had gone down,

Nach den hundertfünfzig Tagen ging das Wasser allmählich zurück,

and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.

und plötzlich – am 17. Tag des 7. Monats – saß das Schiff auf einem der Berge von Ararat fest.

The waters continued to recede until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains became visible.

Bis zum 1. Tag des 10. Monats war das Wasser so weit gesunken, dass die Berggipfel sichtbar wurden.

After forty days Noah opened a window he had made in the ark

Nach weiteren vierzig Tagen öffnete Noah das Fenster, das er eingebaut hatte,

and sent out a raven, and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth.

und ließ einen Raben hinaus. Der flog so lange ein und aus, bis das Wasser abgeflossen war.

Then he sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground.

Noah ließ eine Taube fliegen, um zu sehen, ob das Wasser versickert war.

But the dove could find nowhere to perch because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark.

Aber die Taube fand keinen Platz zum Ausruhen, denn die Flut bedeckte noch das ganze Land. Darum kehrte sie zu Noah zurück. Er streckte seine Hand aus und holte sie wieder ins Schiff.

He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark.

Dann wartete er noch weitere sieben Tage und ließ die Taube erneut hinaus.

When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth.

Sie kam gegen Abend zurück, mit dem frischen Blatt eines Ölbaums im Schnabel. Da wusste Noah, dass das Wasser fast versickert war.

He waited seven more days and sent the dove out again, but this time it did not return to him.

Eine Woche später ließ er die Taube zum dritten Mal fliegen, und diesmal kehrte sie nicht mehr zurück.

By the first day of the first month of Noah’s six hundred and first year, the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry.

Im 601. Lebensjahr Noahs, am 1. Tag des 1. Monats, war das Wasser abgeflossen. Noah entfernte das Dach vom Schiff und hielt Ausschau. Tatsächlich – das Wasser war verschwunden!

By the twenty-seventh day of the second month the earth was completely dry.

Am 27. Tag des 2. Monats war der Erdboden wieder trocken.

Wieder auf festem Boden

Then God said to Noah,

Da sagte Gott zu Noah:

“Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives.

»Verlass mit deiner Frau, deinen Söhnen und Schwiegertöchtern die Arche!

Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground—so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number on it.”

Lass alle Tiere frei, die bei dir sind: die Vögel und alle großen und kleinen Landtiere. Sie sollen sich vermehren und sich auf der Erde ausbreiten!«

So Noah came out, together with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives.

Also ging Noah mit seiner Familie aus dem Schiff,

All the animals and all the creatures that move along the ground and all the birds—everything that moves on land—came out of the ark, one kind after another.

und auch die vielen verschiedenen Tiere kamen nach ihren Arten geordnet heraus.

Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it.

Dann baute Noah für den Herrn einen Altar und brachte von allen reinen Vögeln und den anderen reinen Tieren einige als Brandopfer dar.

The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though^[a] every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.
