As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.

Por último, hermanos, orad por nosotros para que el mensaje del Señor se difunda rápidamente y se reciba con honor, tal como sucedió entre vosotros.

And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith.

Orad además para que seamos librados de personas perversas y malvadas, porque no todos tienen fe.

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.

Pero el Señor es fiel, y él os fortalecerá y os protegerá del maligno.

We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command.

En el Señor tenemos confianza en que vosotros cumplís y seguiréis cumpliendo lo que os hemos enseñado.

May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.

Warning Against Idleness

Que el Señor os lleve a amar como Dios ama, y a perseverar como Cristo perseveró.

Exhortación al trabajo

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching^[a] you received from us.

Hermanos, en el nombre del Señor Jesucristo os ordenamos que os apartéis de todo hermano que esté viviendo como un vago y no según las enseñanzas recibidas^[a] de nosotros.

For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you,

Vosotros mismos sabéis cómo debéis seguir nuestro ejemplo. Nosotros no vivimos como ociosos entre vosotros,

nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you.

ni comimos el pan de nadie sin pagarlo. Al contrario, día y noche trabajamos arduamente y sin descanso para no ser una carga a ninguno de vosotros.

We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate.

Y lo hicimos así no porque no tuviéramos derecho a tal ayuda, sino para daros buen ejemplo.

For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”

Porque, incluso cuando estábamos con vosotros, os ordenamos: «El que no quiera trabajar, que tampoco coma».

We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies.

Nos hemos enterado de que entre vosotros hay algunos que andan haciendo el vago, sin trabajar en nada, y que solo se meten en lo que no les importa.

Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat.

A tales personas les ordenamos y exhortamos en el Señor Jesucristo que tranquilamente se pongan a trabajar para ganarse la vida.

And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.

Hermanos, no os canséis de hacer el bien.

Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may feel ashamed.

Si alguno no obedece las instrucciones que os damos en esta carta, denunciadlo públicamente y no os relacionéis con él, para que se avergüence.

Yet do not regard them as an enemy, but warn them as you would a fellow believer.
