1 Corinthians 11

Imitadme a mí, como yo imito a Cristo.

Decoro en el culto

I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the traditions just as I passed them on to you.

Os elogio porque os acordáis de mí en todo y retenéis las enseñanzas,^[a] tal como os las transmití.

But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man,^[a] and the head of Christ is God.

Ahora bien, quiero que entendáis que Cristo es cabeza de todo hombre, mientras que el hombre es cabeza de la mujer y Dios es cabeza de Cristo.

Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head.

Todo hombre que ora o profetiza con la cabeza cubierta^[b] deshonra al que es su cabeza.

But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is the same as having her head shaved.

En cambio, toda mujer que ora o profetiza con la cabeza descubierta deshonra al que es su cabeza; es como si estuviera rasurada.

For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head.

Si la mujer no se cubre la cabeza, que se corte también el cabello; pero, si es vergonzoso para la mujer tener el pelo corto o la cabeza rasurada, que se la cubra.

A man ought not to cover his head,^[b] since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man.

El hombre no debe cubrirse la cabeza, ya que él es imagen y gloria de Dios, mientras que la mujer es gloria del hombre.

For man did not come from woman, but woman from man;

De hecho, el hombre no procede de la mujer, sino la mujer del hombre;

neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.

ni tampoco fue creado el hombre a causa de la mujer, sino la mujer a causa del hombre.

It is for this reason that a woman ought to have authority over her own^[c] head, because of the angels.

Por esta razón, y a causa de los ángeles, la mujer tiene autoridad sobre su cabeza.^[c]

Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman.

Sin embargo, en el Señor, ni la mujer existe aparte del hombre ni el hombre aparte de la mujer.

For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.

Porque así como la mujer procede del hombre, también el hombre nace de la mujer; pero todo proviene de Dios.

Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?

Juzgad vosotros mismos: ¿Es apropiado que la mujer ore a Dios sin cubrirse la cabeza?

Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him,

¿No os enseña el mismo orden natural de las cosas que es una vergüenza para el hombre dejarse crecer el cabello,

but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering.

mientras que es una gloria para la mujer llevar cabello largo? Es que a ella se le ha dado su cabellera como velo.

If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice—nor do the churches of God.

Correcting an Abuse of the Lord’s Supper

Si alguien insiste en discutir este asunto, tenga en cuenta que nosotros no tenemos otra costumbre, ni tampoco las iglesias de Dios.

La Cena del Señor

In the following directives I have no praise for you, for your meetings do more harm than good.

Al daros las siguientes instrucciones, no puedo elogiaros, ya que vuestras reuniones traen más perjuicio que beneficio.

In the first place, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you, and to some extent I believe it.

En primer lugar, oigo decir que cuando os reunís como iglesia hay divisiones entre vosotros, y hasta cierto punto lo creo.

No doubt there have to be differences among you to show which of you have God’s approval.

Sin duda, tiene que haber grupos sectarios entre vosotros, para que se demuestre quiénes contáis con la aprobación de Dios.

So then, when you come together, it is not the Lord’s Supper you eat,

De hecho, cuando os reunís, ya no es para comer la Cena del Señor,

for when you are eating, some of you go ahead with your own private suppers. As a result, one person remains hungry and another gets drunk.

porque cada uno se adelanta a comer su propia cena, de manera que unos os quedáis con hambre mientras otros os emborracháis.

Don’t you have homes to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God by humiliating those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? Certainly not in this matter!

¿Acaso no tenéis casas donde comer y beber? ¿O es que menospreciáis a la iglesia de Dios y queréis avergonzar a los que no tienen nada? ¿Qué os diré? ¿Voy a elogiaros por esto? ¡Claro que no!

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread,

Yo recibí del Señor lo mismo que os transmití a vosotros: Que el Señor Jesús, la noche en que fue traicionado, tomó pan,

and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

y, después de dar gracias, lo partió y dijo: «Este pan es mi cuerpo, que por vosotros entrego; haced esto en memoria de mí».

In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

De la misma manera, después de cenar, tomó la copa y dijo: «Esta copa es el nuevo pacto en mi sangre; haced esto, cada vez que bebáis de ella, en memoria de mí».

For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

Porque cada vez que coméis este pan y bebéis de esta copa, proclamáis la muerte del Señor hasta que él venga.

So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.

Por lo tanto, cualquiera que coma el pan o beba de la copa del Señor de manera indigna será culpable de pecar contra el cuerpo y la sangre del Señor.

Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup.

Así que cada uno debe examinarse a sí mismo antes de comer el pan y beber de la copa.

For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.

Porque el que come y bebe sin discernir el cuerpo^[d] come y bebe su propia condena.

That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.

Por eso hay entre vosotros muchos débiles y enfermos, e incluso varios han muerto.

But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment.

Si nos examináramos a nosotros mismos, no se nos juzgaría;

Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.

pero, si nos juzga el Señor, nos disciplina para que no seamos condenados con el mundo.

So then, my brothers and sisters, when you gather to eat, you should all eat together.

Así que, hermanos míos, cuando os reunís para comer, esperaos unos a otros.

Anyone who is hungry should eat something at home, so that when you meet together it may not result in judgment.

And when I come I will give further directions.

Si alguno tiene hambre, que coma en su casa, para que vuestras reuniones no resulten dignas de condenación.
