Nehemiah 13

On that day the Book of Moses was read aloud in the hearing of the people and there it was found written that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever be admitted into the assembly of God,

В тот день народу читали вслух из Таурата, книги Мусы, и нашли написанным там, что никакого аммонитянина и моавитянина нельзя принимать в общество Аллаха,

because they had not met the Israelites with food and water but had hired Balaam to call a curse down on them. (Our God, however, turned the curse into a blessing.)

потому что они не встретили исраильтян с пищей и водой, но наняли Валаама, чтобы проклясть их. (Но наш Бог превратил проклятие в благословение.)^[a]

When the people heard this law, they excluded from Israel all who were of foreign descent.

Услышав этот закон, они удалили из Исраила всех, кто происходил от чужеземцев.

Восстановление порядка в храме

Before this, Eliashib the priest had been put in charge of the storerooms of the house of our God. He was closely associated with Tobiah,

Перед этим заботе священнослужителя Элиашива были вверены хранилища дома нашего Бога. Он был тесно связан с Товией

and he had provided him with a large room formerly used to store the grain offerings and incense and temple articles, and also the tithes of grain, new wine and olive oil prescribed for the Levites, musicians and gatekeepers, as well as the contributions for the priests.

и приготовил для него большую комнату, где прежде хранили хлебные приношения, благовония и храмовую утварь, а также десятины зерна, молодого вина и масла, предназначенные по Закону для левитов, певцов и привратников, а ещё пожертвования для священнослужителей.

But while all this was going on, I was not in Jerusalem, for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I had returned to the king. Some time later I asked his permission

Но когда всё это происходило, меня не было в Иерусалиме, ведь в тридцать второй год правления Артаксеркса, царя Вавилона^[b] (433 г. до н. э.), я уже вернулся к царю. Некоторое время спустя я отпросился у него

and came back to Jerusalem. Here I learned about the evil thing Eliashib had done in providing Tobiah a room in the courts of the house of God.

и вернулся в Иерусалим. Здесь я узнал о зле, которое сделал Элиашив, приготовив во дворах дома Аллаха комнату для Товии.

I was greatly displeased and threw all Tobiah’s household goods out of the room.

Я очень разгневался и выбросил все домашние вещи Товии из комнаты.

I gave orders to purify the rooms, and then I put back into them the equipment of the house of God, with the grain offerings and the incense.

Я приказал очистить комнаты и опять внёс в них утварь дома Аллаха, и хлебные приношения, и благовония.

I also learned that the portions assigned to the Levites had not been given to them, and that all the Levites and musicians responsible for the service had gone back to their own fields.

Ещё я обнаружил, что доли, предназначенные для левитов, не были им даны, и что все левиты и певцы, проводившие служения, вернулись на свои поля.

So I rebuked the officials and asked them, “Why is the house of God neglected?” Then I called them together and stationed them at their posts.

Я упрекнул начальников и спросил их:

– Почему оставлен дом Аллаха?

Затем я собрал их и расставил по местам.

All Judah brought the tithes of grain, new wine and olive oil into the storerooms.

И тогда весь народ Иудеи принёс в хранилища десятины зерна, молодого вина и масла.

I put Shelemiah the priest, Zadok the scribe, and a Levite named Pedaiah in charge of the storerooms and made Hanan son of Zakkur, the son of Mattaniah, their assistant, because they were considered trustworthy. They were made responsible for distributing the supplies to their fellow Levites.

Я вверил хранилища заботам священнослужителя Шелемии, Цадока, учителя Таурата, и левита по имени Педая, и дал им в помощники Ханана, сына Заккура, сына Маттании, потому что эти люди считались надёжными. Им было поручено распределять запасы между их собратьями.

Remember me for this, my God, and do not blot out what I have so faithfully done for the house of my God and its services.

Вспомни меня за это, Бог мой, и не изгладь моих благих дел, которые я сделал для дома моего Бога и для его служб.

Возобновление соблюдения субботы

In those days I saw people in Judah treading winepresses on the Sabbath and bringing in grain and loading it on donkeys, together with wine, grapes, figs and all other kinds of loads. And they were bringing all this into Jerusalem on the Sabbath. Therefore I warned them against selling food on that day.

В те дни я увидел в Иудее людей, которые топтали виноград в давильнях в субботу^[c], и завозили снопы с зерном, и грузили их на ослов вместе с вином, виноградом, инжиром и всяким другим грузом. И всё это они везли в Иерусалим в субботу. Поэтому я предостерёг их, чтобы в этот день они не торговали едой.

People from Tyre who lived in Jerusalem were bringing in fish and all kinds of merchandise and selling them in Jerusalem on the Sabbath to the people of Judah.

Люди из Тира, которые жили в Иерусалиме, привозили рыбу и всякие виды товаров и продавали их в Иерусалиме в субботу народу Иудеи.

I rebuked the nobles of Judah and said to them, “What is this wicked thing you are doing—desecrating the Sabbath day?

Я упрекнул знать Иудеи и сказал им:

– Что за злое дело вы делаете, оскверняя субботний день?

Didn’t your ancestors do the same things, so that our God brought all this calamity on us and on this city? Now you are stirring up more wrath against Israel by desecrating the Sabbath.”

Разве не то же самое делали ваши отцы, и наш Бог навёл на нас и на этот город всю эту беду? А вы сейчас, оскверняя субботу, разжигаете против Исраила ещё больший гнев.

When evening shadows fell on the gates of Jerusalem before the Sabbath, I ordered the doors to be shut and not opened until the Sabbath was over. I stationed some of my own men at the gates so that no load could be brought in on the Sabbath day.

Когда перед субботой у ворот Иерусалима начали опускаться сумерки, я приказал запереть двери и не открывать их, пока не пройдёт суббота. Я поставил у ворот несколько человек из своих слуг, чтобы в субботу нельзя было внести никакого груза.

Once or twice the merchants and sellers of all kinds of goods spent the night outside Jerusalem.

Один или два раза купцы и торговцы всякого рода товаром ночевали вне Иерусалима.

But I warned them and said, “Why do you spend the night by the wall? If you do this again, I will arrest you.” From that time on they no longer came on the Sabbath.

Но я предостерёг их и сказал:

– Зачем вы ночуете у стены? Если вы сделаете это ещё раз, я применю против вас силу.

И с того времени они уже не приходили в субботу.

Then I commanded the Levites to purify themselves and go and guard the gates in order to keep the Sabbath day holy.

Remember me for this also, my God, and show mercy to me according to your great love.

Затем я велел левитам очиститься и пойти стеречь ворота, чтобы сохранить субботний день святым.

Вспомни меня и за это, Бог мой, и помилуй меня по величию Твоей милости.

Запрет на смешанные браки

Moreover, in those days I saw men of Judah who had married women from Ashdod, Ammon and Moab.

Более того, в те дни я видел иудеев, которые женились на женщинах из Ашдода, Аммона и Моава.

Half of their children spoke the language of Ashdod or the language of one of the other peoples, and did not know how to speak the language of Judah.

Половина их детей говорила на языке Ашдода или на языке какого-нибудь из прочих народов и не умела говорить по-иудейски.

I rebuked them and called curses down on them. I beat some of the men and pulled out their hair. I made them take an oath in God’s name and said: “You are not to give your daughters in marriage to their sons, nor are you to take their daughters in marriage for your sons or for yourselves.

Я упрекал их и призывал на них проклятия. Я бил некоторых из них и таскал за волосы. Я заставил их поклясться именем Аллаха и сказал:

– Вы не должны отдавать своих дочерей замуж за сыновей других народов и не должны брать их дочерей в жёны своим сыновьям или самим себе.

Was it not because of marriages like these that Solomon king of Israel sinned? Among the many nations there was no king like him. He was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel, but even he was led into sin by foreign women.

Не из-за таких ли вот браков впал в грех царь Исраила Сулейман? У многих народов не было царя, подобного ему. Он был любим Богом своим, и Аллах сделал его царём над всем Исраилом, но чужеземные жёны ввели в грех даже его.

Must we hear now that you too are doing all this terrible wickedness and are being unfaithful to our God by marrying foreign women?”

Должны ли мы теперь слышать, что и вы совершаете всё это страшное зло и нарушаете верность нашему Богу, женясь на чужеземках?

One of the sons of Joiada son of Eliashib the high priest was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite. And I drove him away from me.

Один из сыновей Иояды, сына главного священнослужителя Элиашива, был зятем хоронитянина Санбаллата. И я прогнал его от себя.

Remember them, my God, because they defiled the priestly office and the covenant of the priesthood and of the Levites.

Вспомни их, Бог мой, ведь они осквернили священство и соглашение священнослужителей и левитов.

So I purified the priests and the Levites of everything foreign, and assigned them duties, each to his own task.

Так я очистил их от всего иноземного и установил обязанности священнослужителям и левитам, каждому – своё дело.

I also made provision for contributions of wood at designated times, and for the firstfruits.

Remember me with favor, my God.

А ещё я позаботился о поставке дров в назначенные сроки и о первых плодах.

Вспомни меня, Бог мой, мне во благо.
