Joshua 14

Now these are the areas the Israelites received as an inheritance in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun and the heads of the tribal clans of Israel allotted to them.

Вот земли, что исраильтяне получили в надел в земле Ханаана, которые им разделили священнослужитель Элеазар, Иешуа, сын Нуна, и главы семейств в родах Исраила.

Their inheritances were assigned by lot to the nine and a half tribes, as the Lord had commanded through Moses.

Их наделы были определены по жребию девяти с половиной родам, как повелел Вечный через Мусу.

Moses had granted the two and a half tribes their inheritance east of the Jordan but had not granted the Levites an inheritance among the rest,

Муса дал двум с половиной родам наделы к востоку от Иордана, но не дал между остальными надела роду Леви,

for Joseph’s descendants had become two tribes—Manasseh and Ephraim. The Levites received no share of the land but only towns to live in, with pasturelands for their flocks and herds.

потому что от сыновей Юсуфа произошли два рода – Манасса и Ефраим. Левиты не получили земельного надела, а только города, чтобы жить в них, с пастбищами для своих отар и стад.

So the Israelites divided the land, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

Allotment for Caleb

И исраильтяне разделили землю, как Вечный повелел Мусе.

Хеврон отдан Халеву

Now the people of Judah approached Joshua at Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know what the Lord said to Moses the man of God at Kadesh Barnea about you and me.

Люди из рода Иуды пришли к Иешуа в Гилгал, и Халев, сын кенезеянина Иефоннии, сказал ему:

– Ты знаешь, что в Кадеш-Барни Вечный сказал пророку Мусе обо мне и о тебе.

I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to explore the land. And I brought him back a report according to my convictions,

Мне было сорок лет, когда Муса, раб Вечного, послал меня из Кадеш-Барни разведать землю. Я вернулся к нему с правдивыми вестями,

but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt in fear. I, however, followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.

но мои братья, которые ходили со мной, заставили народ пасть духом, а я от всего сердца следовал Вечному, моему Богу.

So on that day Moses swore to me, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.’^[a]

И Муса поклялся мне в тот день: «Земля, по которой ступали твои ноги, будет уделом тебе и твоим детям навеки, потому что ты от всего сердца следовал Вечному, моему Богу».^[a]

“Now then, just as the Lord promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old!

И вот, как Вечный и обещал, Он сохранял меня в живых сорок пять лет с того времени, как Он сказал это Мусе, когда Исраил скитался в пустыне. Мне теперь восемьдесят пять лет!

I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then.

И я всё ещё так же крепок, как в тот день, когда меня посылал Муса разведать землю. У меня столько же сил для битвы, сколько было тогда.

Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the Lord helping me, I will drive them out just as he said.”

Итак, дай мне эти нагорья, о которых говорил в тот день Вечный. Ты сам слышал тогда, что там были анакиты (гиганты) и города у них большие и укреплённые. Может быть, Вечный будет со мной, и я прогоню их, как Вечный и сказал.

Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance.

И Иешуа благословил Халева, сына Иефоннии, и дал ему в надел Хеврон.

So Hebron has belonged to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite ever since, because he followed the Lord, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly.

С тех пор Хеврон стал наделом Халева, сына кенезеянина Иефоннии, потому что он от всего сердца следовал Вечному, Богу Исраила.

(Hebron used to be called Kiriath Arba after Arba, who was the greatest man among the Anakites.)

Then the land had rest from war.

(Прежде Хеврон назывался Кириат-Арба («город Арбы»), по имени человека, которого звали Арба. Этот Арба был самым великим среди анакитов.)

И земля успокоилась от войны.
