Exodus 10

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these signs of mine among them

Вечный сказал Мусе:

– Пойди к фараону. Я сделал его сердце и сердца его приближённых упрямыми, чтобы сотворить среди них знамения,

that you may tell your children and grandchildren how I dealt harshly with the Egyptians and how I performed my signs among them, and that you may know that I am the Lord.”

чтобы ты мог потом рассказать детям и внукам, как сурово Я поступил с египтянами и как сотворил знамения среди них. Пусть они знают, что Я – Вечный.

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him, “This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, so that they may worship me.

Муса и Харун пришли к фараону и сказали ему:

– Так говорит Вечный, Бог евреев: «Когда же, наконец, ты смиришься предо Мной? Отпусти Мой народ поклониться Мне.

If you refuse to let them go, I will bring locusts into your country tomorrow.

Если ты откажешься, то завтра Я наведу на твою страну саранчу.

They will cover the face of the ground so that it cannot be seen. They will devour what little you have left after the hail, including every tree that is growing in your fields.

Она покроет землю так, что земли не будет видно. Она сожрёт всё то немногое, что осталось у вас после града, и даже деревья, которые растут у вас в полях.

They will fill your houses and those of all your officials and all the Egyptians—something neither your parents nor your ancestors have ever seen from the day they settled in this land till now.’” Then Moses turned and left Pharaoh.

Она заполнит твои дворцы, дома твоих приближённых и всех египтян: такого не видели ни твои отцы, ни деды с того дня, как поселились в этой земле, и до сегодняшнего дня».

Муса повернулся и ушёл от фараона.

Pharaoh’s officials said to him, “How long will this man be a snare to us? Let the people go, so that they may worship the Lord their God. Do you not yet realize that Egypt is ruined?”

Приближённые фараона сказали ему:

– Сколько ещё этот человек будет нас мучить? Отпусти этих людей поклониться Вечному, их Богу. Разве ты всё ещё не видишь, что Египет гибнет?

Then Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh. “Go, worship the Lord your God,” he said. “But tell me who will be going.”

Тогда Мусу и Харуна вернули к фараону.

– Пойдите, поклонитесь Вечному, вашему Богу, – сказал он. – Только кто же из вас пойдёт?

Moses answered, “We will go with our young and our old, with our sons and our daughters, and with our flocks and herds, because we are to celebrate a festival to the Lord.”

Муса ответил:

– Мы пойдём с детьми и стариками, с сыновьями и дочерьми, с отарами и стадами: ведь у нас праздник Вечному.

Pharaoh said, “The Lord be with you—if I let you go, along with your women and children! Clearly you are bent on evil.^[a]

Фараон сказал:

– Если я когда-либо отпущу вас с женщинами и детьми, то Вечный действительно с вами! Но берегитесь, вас ждут большие неприятности.^[a]

No! Have only the men go and worship the Lord, since that’s what you have been asking for.” Then Moses and Aaron were driven out of Pharaoh’s presence.

Нет уж! Пусть одни мужчины пойдут поклоняться Вечному, раз вы об этом просите.

И Мусу с Харуном выгнали от фараона.

And the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over Egypt so that locusts swarm over the land and devour everything growing in the fields, everything left by the hail.”

Вечный сказал Мусе:

– Протяни руку над египетской землёй, и появится саранча. Она сожрёт всё, что растёт в полях, всё то, что уцелело после града.

So Moses stretched out his staff over Egypt, and the Lord made an east wind blow across the land all that day and all that night. By morning the wind had brought the locusts;

Муса простёр посох над Египтом, и Вечный навёл на землю восточный ветер, который дул весь день и всю ночь. К утру ветер принёс саранчу.

they invaded all Egypt and settled down in every area of the country in great numbers. Never before had there been such a plague of locusts, nor will there ever be again.

Она напала на Египет, опустившись на страну в огромном количестве. Такого нашествия саранчи не бывало прежде и не будет впредь.

They covered all the ground until it was black. They devoured all that was left after the hail—everything growing in the fields and the fruit on the trees. Nothing green remained on tree or plant in all the land of Egypt.

Она покрыла всю землю, так что земля почернела. Она сожрала всё, что осталось после града – всё, что росло в полях, и плоды на деревьях. Ни на дереве, ни на каком другом растении во всём Египте не осталось зелени.

Pharaoh quickly summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “I have sinned against the Lord your God and against you.

Фараон спешно позвал Мусу и Харуна и сказал:

– Я согрешил перед Вечным, вашим Богом, и перед вами.

Now forgive my sin once more and pray to the Lord your God to take this deadly plague away from me.”

Простите мой грех всего лишь ещё один раз. Помолитесь Вечному, вашему Богу, чтобы Он избавил меня от этого несчастья.

Moses then left Pharaoh and prayed to the Lord.

Муса ушёл от фараона и помолился Вечному.

And the Lord changed the wind to a very strong west wind, which caught up the locusts and carried them into the Red Sea.^[b] Not a locust was left anywhere in Egypt.

Вечный переменил ветер на очень сильный западный, который подхватил саранчу и унёс в Тростниковое море^[b]. В Египте совсем не осталось саранчи.

But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let the Israelites go.

The Plague of Darkness

Но Вечный сделал сердце фараона упрямым, и он не отпустил исраильтян.

Девятое наказание: тьма

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that darkness spreads over Egypt—darkness that can be felt.”

Вечный сказал Мусе:

– Подними руку к небу, и на Египет ляжет тьма – осязаемая тьма.

So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and total darkness covered all Egypt for three days.

Муса поднял руку к небу, и непроницаемая тьма покрыла Египет на три дня.

No one could see anyone else or move about for three days. Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived.

Люди не могли ни видеть друг друга, ни передвигаться в течение трёх дней. А у исраильтян, там, где они жили, был свет.

Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, “Go, worship the Lord. Even your women and children may go with you; only leave your flocks and herds behind.”

Тогда фараон позвал Мусу и сказал:

– Идите, поклонитесь Вечному. Оставьте здесь лишь ваши отары и стада, а женщины и дети пусть идут с вами.

But Moses said, “You must allow us to have sacrifices and burnt offerings to present to the Lord our God.

Муса ответил:

– Ты должен отпустить с нами скот, чтобы мы принесли жертвы всесожжения и пиршественные жертвы Вечному, нашему Богу!

Our livestock too must go with us; not a hoof is to be left behind. We have to use some of them in worshiping the Lord our God, and until we get there we will not know what we are to use to worship the Lord.”

Весь наш скот должен пойти с нами, не останется и копыта. И там мы отберём животных для жертвы Вечному, нашему Богу, а пока мы не придём туда, мы не будем знать, каких животных следует принести в жертву Вечному.

But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he was not willing to let them go.

Вечный сделал сердце фараона упрямым, и он не захотел отпускать их.

Pharaoh said to Moses, “Get out of my sight! Make sure you do not appear before me again! The day you see my face you will die.”

Он сказал Мусе:

– Прочь с моих глаз, чтобы я тебя больше не видел! В тот день, когда я тебя снова увижу, ты умрёшь.

“Just as you say,” Moses replied. “I will never appear before you again.”

– Верно, – ответил Муса. – Больше ты меня не увидишь.
