2 Kings 2

When the Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were on their way from Gilgal.

Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here; the Lord has sent me to Bethel.”

But Elisha said, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.

Ильяс сказал Елисею:

– Прошу, останься здесь. Вечный посылает меня в Вефиль.

Но Елисей сказал:

– Верно, как и то, что жив Вечный и жив ты сам, – я не оставлю тебя!

И они пошли в Вефиль.

The company of the prophets at Bethel came out to Elisha and asked, “Do you know that the Lord is going to take your master from you today?”

“Yes, I know,” Elisha replied, “so be quiet.”

Ученики пророков из Вефиля вышли к Елисею и спросили:

– Знаешь ли ты, что Вечный возьмёт от тебя сегодня твоего господина?

– Да, я знаю, – ответил он. – Молчите.

Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here, Elisha; the Lord has sent me to Jericho.”

And he replied, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went to Jericho.

Ильяс сказал:

– Елисей, прошу, останься здесь. Вечный посылает меня в Иерихон.

Елисей ответил:

– Верно, как и то, что жив Вечный и жив ты сам, – я не оставлю тебя!

И они пошли в Иерихон.

The company of the prophets at Jericho went up to Elisha and asked him, “Do you know that the Lord is going to take your master from you today?”

“Yes, I know,” he replied, “so be quiet.”

Ученики пророков из Иерихона подошли к Елисею и спросили его:

– Знаешь ли ты, что Вечный возьмёт от тебя сегодня твоего господина?

– Да, я знаю, – ответил он. – Молчите.

Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here; the Lord has sent me to the Jordan.”

And he replied, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So the two of them walked on.

Ильяс сказал ему:

– Прошу, останься здесь. Вечный посылает меня к Иордану.

Елисей ответил:

– Верно, как и то, что жив Вечный и жив ты сам, – я не оставлю тебя!

И они вместе пошли дальше.

Fifty men from the company of the prophets went and stood at a distance, facing the place where Elijah and Elisha had stopped at the Jordan.

Пятьдесят пророческих учеников пришли и встали поодаль напротив них, когда оба они остановились у Иордана.

Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up and struck the water with it. The water divided to the right and to the left, and the two of them crossed over on dry ground.

Ильяс снял плащ, скатал его и ударил им по воде. Вода разомкнулась вправо и влево, и они оба переправились по сухой земле.

When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?”

“Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied.

Когда они переправились, Ильяс сказал Елисею:

– Скажи, что мне для тебя сделать, прежде чем я буду взят от тебя?

– Дай мне унаследовать твой дух в двойной мере, – ответил Елисей.

“You have asked a difficult thing,” Elijah said, “yet if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours—otherwise, it will not.”

– Трудного просишь, – сказал Ильяс. – Если ты увидишь, как я буду взят от тебя, то случится по-твоему, а если нет, то не случится этого.

As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.

Когда они ещё шли и разговаривали, внезапно явились огненная колесница и огненные кони и разлучили их, и Ильяс вознёсся в вихре на небо.

Elisha saw this and cried out, “My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” And Elisha saw him no more. Then he took hold of his garment and tore it in two.

Елисей смотрел на это и кричал:

– Отец мой! Отец мой! Колесница и конница Исраила!

А когда он уже не мог его видеть, то взялся за одежду и в глубокой скорби разорвал её.

Elisha then picked up Elijah’s cloak that had fallen from him and went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan.

Он подобрал плащ, который упал с Ильяса, пошёл назад и встал на берегу Иордана.

He took the cloak that had fallen from Elijah and struck the water with it. “Where now is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” he asked. When he struck the water, it divided to the right and to the left, and he crossed over.

Он взял тот упавший плащ и ударил им по воде.

– Где сейчас Вечный, Бог Ильяса? – сказал он.

Когда он ударил по воде, она разомкнулась вправо и влево, и он переправился через реку.

The company of the prophets from Jericho, who were watching, said, “The spirit of Elijah is resting on Elisha.” And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.

Ученики пророков из Иерихона, которые видели это, сказали:

– Дух Ильяса перешёл на Елисея.

Они вышли ему навстречу и поклонились ему до земли.

“Look,” they said, “we your servants have fifty able men. Let them go and look for your master. Perhaps the Spirit of the Lord has picked him up and set him down on some mountain or in some valley.”

“No,” Elisha replied, “do not send them.”

– У твоих рабов есть пятьдесят крепких мужчин, – сказали они. – Позволь, они пойдут и поищут твоего господина. Может быть, Дух Вечного подхватил его и бросил на одной из гор или в одной из долин?

– Нет, – ответил Елисей. – Не посылайте их.

But they persisted until he was too embarrassed to refuse. So he said, “Send them.” And they sent fifty men, who searched for three days but did not find him.

Но они настаивали, пока он не сдался и не сказал:

– Пошлите их на поиски.

И они послали пятьдесят мужчин, которые искали три дня, но не нашли Ильяса.

When they returned to Elisha, who was staying in Jericho, he said to them, “Didn’t I tell you not to go?”

Healing of the Water

Когда они вернулись к Елисею, который оставался в Иерихоне, он сказал им:

– Разве я не говорил вам не ходить?

Чудеса Елисея

The people of the city said to Elisha, “Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive.”

Жители города сказали Елисею:

– Господин, как ты видишь, этот город расположен хорошо, но вода тут плохая и земля бесплодна.

“Bring me a new bowl,” he said, “and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him.

– Принесите мне новую чашу, – сказал он, – и положите в неё соли.

Они принесли ему.

Then he went out to the spring and threw the salt into it, saying, “This is what the Lord says: ‘I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive.’”

Он вышел к источнику и бросил в него соль, говоря:

– Так говорит Вечный: «Я очистил эту воду. Никогда впредь не будет от неё ни смерти, ни бесплодия».

And the water has remained pure to this day, according to the word Elisha had spoken.

Elisha Is Jeered

И по сегодняшний день вода остаётся здоровой по слову, которое сказал Елисей.

From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!”

Оттуда Елисей пошёл в Вефиль. Когда он шёл по дороге, из города вышло несколько подростков, которые стали смеяться над ним:

– Иди отсюда,^[a] лысый! – кричали они. – Иди отсюда, лысый!

He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys.

Он обернулся, посмотрел на них и проклял их во имя Вечного. И из леса вышли две медведицы и растерзали из них сорок два ребёнка.

And he went on to Mount Carmel and from there returned to Samaria.

А он пошёл к горе Кармил и оттуда вернулся в Самарию.
