Then Solomon began to build the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to his father David. It was on the threshing floor of Araunah^[a] the Jebusite, the place provided by David.

И Сулейман начал строить храм Вечного в Иерусалиме на горе Мория, где Вечный явился его отцу Давуду. Это было на гумне иевусея Арауны^[a], на месте, которое приготовил Давуд.

He began building on the second day of the second month in the fourth year of his reign.

Он начал строить во второй день второго месяца в четвёртый год своего правления (в середине весны 966 г. до н. э.).

The foundation Solomon laid for building the temple of God was sixty cubits long and twenty cubits wide^[b] (using the cubit of the old standard).

Вот размеры основания, на котором Сулейман строил храм Аллаха: тридцать метров^[b] в длину и десять метров^[c] в ширину.

The portico at the front of the temple was twenty cubits^[c] long across the width of the building and twenty^[d] cubits high.

He overlaid the inside with pure gold.

Притвор перед храмом был десять метров в длину, соответственно ширине храма, и десять метров^[d] в высоту. Изнутри он покрыл его чистым золотом.

He paneled the main hall with juniper and covered it with fine gold and decorated it with palm tree and chain designs.

Сулейман обшил большой зал сосной, вызолотил его и украсил орнаментом из пальм и цепей.

He adorned the temple with precious stones. And the gold he used was gold of Parvaim.

Он выложил храм драгоценными камнями и золотом, доставленным из Парваима.

He overlaid the ceiling beams, doorframes, walls and doors of the temple with gold, and he carved cherubim on the walls.

Он покрыл золотом потолочные балки, дверные рамы, стены и двери храма и вырезал на стенах херувимов^[e].

He built the Most Holy Place, its length corresponding to the width of the temple—twenty cubits long and twenty cubits wide. He overlaid the inside with six hundred talents^[e] of fine gold.

Затем он построил Святое Святых^[f], длина которого совпадала с шириной храма: по десять метров в длину и в ширину. Изнутри Сулейман покрыл его лучшим золотом, весом в двадцать одну тонну и шестьсот килограммов^[g].

The gold nails weighed fifty shekels.^[f] He also overlaid the upper parts with gold.

Золотые гвозди весили шестьсот граммов^[h]. Золотом он покрыл также и верхние комнаты.

For the Most Holy Place he made a pair of sculptured cherubim and overlaid them with gold.

В Святом Святых он сделал двух херувимов резной работы и покрыл их золотом.

The total wingspan of the cherubim was twenty cubits. One wing of the first cherub was five cubits^[g] long and touched the temple wall, while its other wing, also five cubits long, touched the wing of the other cherub.

Их крылья были длиной десять метров. Одно крыло первого херувима было два с половиной метра^[i] в длину и касалось стены храма, а второе крыло, такой же длины, касалось крыла другого херувима.

Similarly one wing of the second cherub was five cubits long and touched the other temple wall, and its other wing, also five cubits long, touched the wing of the first cherub.

Точно так же одно крыло второго херувима, длиной два с половиной метра, касалось противоположной стены храма, а второе крыло, такой же длины, касалось крыла первого херувима.

The wings of these cherubim extended twenty cubits. They stood on their feet, facing the main hall.^[h]

Крылья этих херувимов простирались на десять метров. Они стояли на ногах, лицами к большому залу.

He made the curtain of blue, purple and crimson yarn and fine linen, with cherubim worked into it.

Сулейман сделал завесу из голубой, пурпурной и алой пряжи и лучшего льна с изображёнными на ней херувимами.

Две бронзовые колонны

For the front of the temple he made two pillars, which together were thirty-five cubits^[i] long, each with a capital five cubits high.

Перед храмом Сулейман сделал две колонны, которые были семнадцать с половиной метров в длину. Капители на каждой из колонн были по два с половиной метра^[j] высотой.

He made interwoven chains^[j] and put them on top of the pillars. He also made a hundred pomegranates and attached them to the chains.

Он сделал круговые цепи и украсил ими верхние части колонн. Ещё он сделал сто гранатовых плодов и прикрепил их к цепям.

He erected the pillars in the front of the temple, one to the south and one to the north. The one to the south he named Jakin^[k] and the one to the north Boaz.^[l]

Он установил колонны перед храмом: одну с южной стороны, и одну с северной. Ту, что с южной стороны, он назвал Иахин («Он утвердит»), а ту, что с северной стороны, – Боаз («в Нём сила»).
