1 Samuel 30

David and his men reached Ziklag on the third day. Now the Amalekites had raided the Negev and Ziklag. They had attacked Ziklag and burned it,

and had taken captive the women and everyone else in it, both young and old. They killed none of them, but carried them off as they went on their way.

и взяли в плен женщин и всех, кто там был, от мала до велика. Они не убили никого из них, но увели их с собой.

When David and his men reached Ziklag, they found it destroyed by fire and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive.

Когда Давуд и его люди пришли в Циклаг, они увидели, что он уничтожен огнём, а их жёны, сыновья и дочери взяты в плен.

So David and his men wept aloud until they had no strength left to weep.

Давуд и его люди громко плакали до тех пор, пока у них не осталось сил плакать.

David’s two wives had been captured—Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal of Carmel.

В плен были взяты и обе жены Давуда – Ахиноамь из Изрееля и Авигайль, вдова Навала из Кармила.

David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God.

Давуд был в большой тревоге, потому что народ сговаривался побить его камнями, каждый горевал по своим детям. Но Давуд укрепился в Вечном, своём Боге.

Then David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelek, “Bring me the ephod.” Abiathar brought it to him,

Давуд сказал священнослужителю Авиатару, сыну Ахи-Малика:

– Принеси мне ефод.

Авиатар принёс,

and David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them?”

“Pursue them,” he answered. “You will certainly overtake them and succeed in the rescue.”

и Давуд спросил Вечного:

– Гнаться ли мне за этим войском? Догоню ли я их?

– Гонись за ними, – ответил Вечный. – Ты непременно догонишь и освободишь пленённых людей.

David and the six hundred men with him came to the Besor Valley, where some stayed behind.

Давуд и с ним шестьсот человек пришли к реке Бесору, где некоторые остановились,

Two hundred of them were too exhausted to cross the valley, but David and the other four hundred continued the pursuit.

потому что двести человек были слишком утомлены, чтобы перебраться через реку. Но Давуд и четыреста человек продолжили погоню.

They found an Egyptian in a field and brought him to David. They gave him water to drink and food to eat—

Они встретили в поле одного египтянина и привели его к Давуду. Они дали ему хлеба и напоили его водой,

part of a cake of pressed figs and two cakes of raisins. He ate and was revived, for he had not eaten any food or drunk any water for three days and three nights.

ещё они дали ему инжир и две связки изюма. Он поел, и к нему вернулись силы, потому что он не ел хлеба и не пил воды три дня и три ночи.

David asked him, “Who do you belong to? Where do you come from?”

He said, “I am an Egyptian, the slave of an Amalekite. My master abandoned me when I became ill three days ago.

Давуд спросил его:

– Чей ты и откуда пришёл?

Он ответил:

– Я египтянин, раб одного амаликитянина. Мой господин оставил меня, когда я заболел три дня назад.

We raided the Negev of the Kerethites, some territory belonging to Judah and the Negev of Caleb. And we burned Ziklag.”

Мы совершили набег на южные земли: на керетитов, на иудеев и на потомков Халева. Ещё мы сожгли Циклаг.

David asked him, “Can you lead me down to this raiding party?”

He answered, “Swear to me before God that you will not kill me or hand me over to my master, and I will take you down to them.”

Давуд спросил его:

– Ты можешь провести меня к этому войску?

Он ответил:

– Поклянись мне Аллахом, что не убьёшь меня и не вернёшь моему господину, и я проведу тебя к нему.

He led David down, and there they were, scattered over the countryside, eating, drinking and reveling because of the great amount of plunder they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from Judah.

Когда он привёл Давуда, амаликитяне, рассеявшись по всей округе, ели, пили и праздновали, потому что в земле филистимлян и в Иудее они взяли огромную добычу.

David fought them from dusk until the evening of the next day, and none of them got away, except four hundred young men who rode off on camels and fled.

Давуд сражался с ними с сумерек до вечера следующего дня, и никто из них не скрылся, кроме четырёхсот юношей, которые сели на верблюдов и бежали.

David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives.

Давуд вернул всё, что забрали амаликитяне, и освободил двух своих жён.

Nothing was missing: young or old, boy or girl, plunder or anything else they had taken. David brought everything back.

Ничего не пропало: ни малого, ни большого, ни сыновей, ни дочерей, ни добычи – ничего из того, что было отнято. Давуд вернул всё.

He took all the flocks and herds, and his men drove them ahead of the other livestock, saying, “This is David’s plunder.”

Он забрал все отары и стада, и его люди гнали их впереди остального скота, говоря:

– Это добыча Давуда.

Then David came to the two hundred men who had been too exhausted to follow him and who were left behind at the Besor Valley. They came out to meet David and the men with him. As David and his men approached, he asked them how they were.

Давуд пришёл к тем двум сотням человек, которые были слишком утомлены, чтобы идти за ним, и которых оставили у реки Бесора. Они вышли навстречу Давуду и людям, бывшим с ним. Когда Давуд приблизился к этим людям, он приветствовал их.

But all the evil men and troublemakers among David’s followers said, “Because they did not go out with us, we will not share with them the plunder we recovered. However, each man may take his wife and children and go.”

Но все злые и недостойные люди, из тех, кто пошёл за Давудом, говорили:

– Они не выходили с нами, и мы не будем делиться с ними добычей, которую отвоевали. Каждый может взять только свою жену и детей и идти.

David replied, “No, my brothers, you must not do that with what the Lord has given us. He has protected us and delivered into our hands the raiding party that came against us.

Давуд ответил:

– Нет, братья мои, не распоряжайтесь так тем, что дал нам Вечный. Он защитил нас и отдал в наши руки войско, которое выступило против нас.

Who will listen to what you say? The share of the man who stayed with the supplies is to be the same as that of him who went down to the battle. All will share alike.”

Кто станет слушать вас в этом деле? Доля человека, который остался с обозом, должна быть такой же, как доля того, кто ходил сражаться. Разделить нужно всем поровну.

David made this a statute and ordinance for Israel from that day to this.

С того дня и впредь Давуд сделал это законом и правилом, оно действует и до сегодняшнего дня.

When David reached Ziklag, he sent some of the plunder to the elders of Judah, who were his friends, saying, “Here is a gift for you from the plunder of the Lord’s enemies.”

Когда Давуд пришёл в Циклаг, он послал часть добычи старейшинам Иудеи, которые были его друзьями, говоря:

– Вот вам подарок из добычи, взятой у врагов Вечного.

David sent it to those who were in Bethel, Ramoth Negev and Jattir;

Он послал её тем, кто были в Вефиле, Рамоте Негевском, Иаттире,

to those in Aroer, Siphmoth, Eshtemoa

Ароере, Сифмоте, Эштемоа,

and Rakal; to those in the towns of the Jerahmeelites and the Kenites;

Ракале, в городах иерахмеилитов и кенеев,

to those in Hormah, Bor Ashan, Athak

в Хорме, Бор-Ашане, Атахе,

and Hebron; and to those in all the other places where he and his men had roamed.

Хевроне и во всех местах, где скитались Давуд и его люди.
