1 Kings 6

In the four hundred and eightieth^[a] year after the Israelites came out of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, the second month, he began to build the temple of the Lord.

The temple that King Solomon built for the Lord was sixty cubits long, twenty wide and thirty high.^[b]

The portico at the front of the main hall of the temple extended the width of the temple, that is twenty cubits,^[c] and projected ten cubits^[d] from the front of the temple.

Притвор перед храмом был десять метров в длину, соответственно ширине храма, и отходил от храма на пять метров^[b].

He made narrow windows high up in the temple walls.

В храме он сделал окна, расширяющиеся внутрь.

Against the walls of the main hall and inner sanctuary he built a structure around the building, in which there were side rooms.

Вдоль задней и боковых стен он возвёл пристройку, в которой были комнаты.

The lowest floor was five cubits^[e] wide, the middle floor six cubits^[f] and the third floor seven.^[g] He made offset ledges around the outside of the temple so that nothing would be inserted into the temple walls.

Первый этаж был два с половиной метра в ширину, второй – три метра и третий – три с половиной метра^[c]. Вокруг храма снаружи он сделал на стене выступы, чтобы поддерживающие брусья не входили в храмовые стены.

In building the temple, only blocks dressed at the quarry were used, and no hammer, chisel or any other iron tool was heard at the temple site while it was being built.

В строительстве храма использовали только те камни, что были обтёсаны на каменоломне, и ни молотка, ни тесла, ни какого другого железного орудия не было слышно на месте строительства храма.

The entrance to the lowest^[h] floor was on the south side of the temple; a stairway led up to the middle level and from there to the third.

Вход на первый этаж находился на южной стороне храма. Лестница вела на второй этаж, а оттуда – на третий.

So he built the temple and completed it, roofing it with beams and cedar planks.

Так Сулейман построил храм и завершил его, покрыв его брусьями и кедровыми досками.

And he built the side rooms all along the temple. The height of each was five cubits, and they were attached to the temple by beams of cedar.

Вдоль всего храма он построил боковые комнаты. Высотой каждая из них была два с половиной метра^[d]. Они присоединялись к храму кедровыми брусьями.

The word of the Lord came to Solomon:

И вот, к Сулейману было слово Вечного:

“As for this temple you are building, if you follow my decrees, observe my laws and keep all my commands and obey them, I will fulfill through you the promise I gave to David your father.

– Что до этого храма, который ты строишь, то, если ты будешь следовать Моим установлениям, соблюдать Мои законы и хранить все Мои повеления и выполнять их, Я исполню через тебя обещание, которое Я дал твоему отцу Давуду.

And I will live among the Israelites and will not abandon my people Israel.”

Я буду жить среди исраильтян и не покину Мой народ, Исраил.

So Solomon built the temple and completed it.

Так Сулейман начал строительство храма и завершил его.

He lined its interior walls with cedar boards, paneling them from the floor of the temple to the ceiling, and covered the floor of the temple with planks of juniper.

Он обшил стены с внутренней стороны кедровыми досками, забрав их от пола храма до потолка, и покрыл пол храма кипарисовыми досками.

He partitioned off twenty cubits at the rear of the temple with cedar boards from floor to ceiling to form within the temple an inner sanctuary, the Most Holy Place.

Он отгородил в глубине храма стеной десять метров^[e] и обложил её кедровыми досками от пола до стропил, чтобы сделать в храме внутреннее святилище, Святое Святых.

The main hall in front of this room was forty cubits^[i] long.

Комната перед Святым Святых была длиной двадцать метров^[f].

The inside of the temple was cedar, carved with gourds and open flowers. Everything was cedar; no stone was to be seen.

Внутри храм был обшит кедровым деревом, на котором были вырезаны подобия тыкв и распустившиеся цветы. Всё было сделано из кедра, камня нигде не было видно.

He prepared the inner sanctuary within the temple to set the ark of the covenant of the Lord there.

Он приготовил внутреннее святилище в храме, чтобы поместить там сундук соглашения Вечного.

The inner sanctuary was twenty cubits long, twenty wide and twenty high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold, and he also overlaid the altar of cedar.

Внутреннее святилище было по десять метров^[g] в длину, ширину и высоту. Он покрыл его чистым золотом и обшил жертвенник, находящийся перед Святым Святых, кедром.

Solomon covered the inside of the temple with pure gold, and he extended gold chains across the front of the inner sanctuary, which was overlaid with gold.

Сулейман покрыл храм внутри чистым золотом и перетянул золотыми цепями вход во внутреннее святилище, которое было покрыто золотом.

So he overlaid the whole interior with gold. He also overlaid with gold the altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary.

For the inner sanctuary he made a pair of cherubim out of olive wood, each ten cubits high.

Во внутреннем святилище он сделал двух херувимов^[h] из масличного дерева, каждого в пять метров^[i] высотой.

One wing of the first cherub was five cubits long, and the other wing five cubits—ten cubits from wing tip to wing tip.

Одно крыло первого херувима было два с половиной метра, и другое крыло этой же длины. Всего – пять метров^[j] от конца одного крыла до конца другого.

The second cherub also measured ten cubits, for the two cherubim were identical in size and shape.

Второй херувим также был пяти метров, так как оба херувима были одного размера и вида.

The height of each cherub was ten cubits.

Высота каждого херувима была пять метров.

He placed the cherubim inside the innermost room of the temple, with their wings spread out. The wing of one cherub touched one wall, while the wing of the other touched the other wall, and their wings touched each other in the middle of the room.

Сулейман поставил херувимов с распростёртыми крыльями во внутреннюю часть храма. Крыло одного херувима касалось одной стены, крыло второго – противоположной стены, а другие крылья херувимов соприкасались друг с другом посередине комнаты.

He overlaid the cherubim with gold.

Он покрыл херувимов золотом.

On the walls all around the temple, in both the inner and outer rooms, he carved cherubim, palm trees and open flowers.

На стенах вокруг всего храма, и внутри, и снаружи, Сулейман вырезал херувимов, пальмы и распустившиеся цветы.

He also covered the floors of both the inner and outer rooms of the temple with gold.

Ещё он покрыл пол, и внутри, и снаружи храма, золотом.

For the entrance to the inner sanctuary he made doors out of olive wood that were one fifth of the width of the sanctuary.

Для входа во внутреннее святилище он сделал двери из масличного дерева с пятиугольными косяками.

And on the two olive-wood doors he carved cherubim, palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid the cherubim and palm trees with hammered gold.

А на двух дверях из масличного дерева он вырезал херувимов, пальмы и распустившиеся цветы и покрыл их золотом.

In the same way, for the entrance to the main hall he made doorframes out of olive wood that were one fourth of the width of the hall.

Точно так же он сделал из масличного дерева четырёхугольные косяки для входа в храм.

He also made two doors out of juniper wood, each having two leaves that turned in sockets.

Ещё Сулейман сделал две двери из кипарисового дерева, каждую с двумя подвижными створками.

He carved cherubim, palm trees and open flowers on them and overlaid them with gold hammered evenly over the carvings.

Он вырезал на них херувимов, пальмы и распустившиеся цветы и покрыл их золотом, ровно наложенным на резьбу.

And he built the inner courtyard of three courses of dressed stone and one course of trimmed cedar beams.

Он построил внутренний двор из трёх рядов обтёсанного камня и ряда кедровых балок.

The foundation of the temple of the Lord was laid in the fourth year, in the month of Ziv.

Основание храма Вечного было заложено на четвёртом году царствования Сулеймана, в месяце зиве (в середине весны).

In the eleventh year in the month of Bul, the eighth month, the temple was finished in all its details according to its specifications. He had spent seven years building it.

На одиннадцатом году его правления, в месяце буле (в середине осени), – а это восьмой месяц, – храм был завершён в соответствии со всеми замыслами о нём. Сулейман строил его семь лет.
