Joshua 24

Then Joshua assembled all the tribes of Israel at Shechem. He summoned the elders, leaders, judges and officials of Israel, and they presented themselves before God.

Иешуа собрал все исраильские роды в Шехеме. Он созвал старейшин, вождей, судей и начальников Исраила, и они предстали перед Всевышним.

Joshua said to all the people, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Long ago your ancestors, including Terah the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River and worshiped other gods.

Иешуа сказал всему народу:

– Так говорит Вечный, Бог Исраила: «Издревле ваши предки – вплоть до Тераха, отца Ибрахима и Нахора, – жили за рекой Евфратом и поклонялись другим богам.

But I took your father Abraham from the land beyond the Euphrates and led him throughout Canaan and gave him many descendants. I gave him Isaac,

Но Я взял вашего отца Ибрахима из земли за Евфратом, водил его по всему Ханаану и дал ему множество потомков. Я дал ему Исхака,

and to Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau. I assigned the hill country of Seir to Esau, but Jacob and his family went down to Egypt.

а Исхаку дал Якуба и Есава. Есаву Я дал нагорья Сеира, но Якуб со своими сыновьями переселился в Египет.

“‘Then I sent Moses and Aaron, and I afflicted the Egyptians by what I did there, and I brought you out.

Я послал Мусу и Харуна, поразил египтян тем, что Я у них совершил, и вывел вас оттуда.

When I brought your people out of Egypt, you came to the sea, and the Egyptians pursued them with chariots and horsemen^[a] as far as the Red Sea.^[b]

Когда Я вывел ваших отцов из Египта, вы пришли к морю. Египтяне гнались за вашими отцами со своими колесницами и всадниками до самого Тростникового моря.

But they cried to the Lord for help, and he put darkness between you and the Egyptians; he brought the sea over them and covered them. You saw with your own eyes what I did to the Egyptians. Then you lived in the wilderness for a long time.

Но они воззвали к Вечному о помощи, и Он положил тьму между вами и египтянами. Он навёл на них море, и оно покрыло их. Вы своими глазами видели, что Я сделал с египтянами. После этого вы долгое время жили в пустыне.

“‘I brought you to the land of the Amorites who lived east of the Jordan. They fought against you, but I gave them into your hands. I destroyed them from before you, and you took possession of their land.

Я привёл вас в землю аморреев, которые жили к востоку от Иордана. Они воевали с вами, но Я отдал их в ваши руки. Я истребил их перед вами, и вы завладели их землёй.

When Balak son of Zippor, the king of Moab, prepared to fight against Israel, he sent for Balaam son of Beor to put a curse on you.

Когда Валак, сын Циппора, царь Моава, готовился к войне с Исраилом, он послал за Валаамом, сыном Беора, чтобы он проклял вас.

But I would not listen to Balaam, so he blessed you again and again, and I delivered you out of his hand.

Но Мне не было угодно послушать Валаама, и он благословлял вас снова и снова, и Я избавил вас от его рук.

“‘Then you crossed the Jordan and came to Jericho. The citizens of Jericho fought against you, as did also the Amorites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hittites, Girgashites, Hivites and Jebusites, but I gave them into your hands.

Вы переправились через Иордан и пришли к Иерихону. Жители Иерихона воевали с вами, как воевали и аморреи, перизеи, хананеи, хетты, гиргашеи, иевусеи и хивеи, но Я отдал их в ваши руки.

I sent the hornet ahead of you, which drove them out before you—also the two Amorite kings. You did not do it with your own sword and bow.

Я наслал перед вами шершней^[a], которые прогнали от вас двух аморрейских царей. Не мечом и не луком сделали вы это.

So I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities you did not build; and you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.’

Так Я дал вам землю, над которой вы не трудились, и города, которых вы не строили. И вы живёте в них и едите урожай виноградников и оливковых рощ, которых вы не сажали».

“Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.

Итак, чтите Вечного и служите Ему искренне и верно. Отриньте богов, которым поклонялись ваши предки за Евфратом и в Египте, и служите Вечному.

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Но если вы не желаете служить Вечному, то выберите сегодня, кому вы будете служить: богам ли, которым служили за Евфратом ваши предки, или богам аморреев, в земле которых вы живёте; а я и дом мой будем служить Вечному.

Then the people answered, “Far be it from us to forsake the Lord to serve other gods!

И народ отвечал:

– Да не будет с нами того, чтобы нам оставить Вечного и служить другим богам!

It was the Lord our God himself who brought us and our parents up out of Egypt, from that land of slavery, and performed those great signs before our eyes. He protected us on our entire journey and among all the nations through which we traveled.

Это Вечный, наш Бог, Сам вывел нас и наших отцов из Египта, из земли рабства, и совершил у нас на глазах эти великие знамения. Он охранял нас на всём нашем пути и среди всех народов, через земли которых мы шли.

And the Lord drove out before us all the nations, including the Amorites, who lived in the land. We too will serve the Lord, because he is our God.”

Вечный прогнал от нас все народы и аморреев, которые жили в этой земле. Мы тоже будем служить Вечному, потому что Он – наш Бог.

Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to serve the Lord. He is a holy God; he is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins.

Иешуа сказал народу:

– Вы не сможете служить Вечному. Он святой Бог! Он ревнивый Бог! Он не простит вам вашего отступничества и ваших грехов.

If you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, he will turn and bring disaster on you and make an end of you, after he has been good to you.”

Если вы оставите Вечного, делавшего вам добро, и станете служить чужим богам, то Он обратится против вас, наведёт на вас беду и истребит вас.

But the people said to Joshua, “No! We will serve the Lord.”

Но народ сказал Иешуа:

– Нет! Мы будем служить Вечному!

Then Joshua said, “You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen to serve the Lord.”

“Yes, we are witnesses,” they replied.

И Иешуа сказал:

– Вы сами стали свидетелями против себя, выбрав служение Вечному.

– Да, мы свидетели, – ответили они.

“Now then,” said Joshua, “throw away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

– Тогда, – сказал Иешуа, – отриньте чужих богов, которые у вас есть, и обратите свои сердца к Вечному, Богу Исраила.

And the people said to Joshua, “We will serve the Lord our God and obey him.”

И народ сказал Иешуа:

– Мы будем служить Вечному, нашему Богу, и слушаться Его.

On that day Joshua made a covenant for the people, and there at Shechem he reaffirmed for them decrees and laws.

В тот день от лица народа Иешуа заключил с Вечным священное соглашение, и там, в Шехеме, он дал народу установления и законы.

And Joshua recorded these things in the Book of the Law of God. Then he took a large stone and set it up there under the oak near the holy place of the Lord.

Иешуа записал эти слова в книгу Закона Всевышнего. Затем он взял большой камень и поставил его там под дубом, возле святилища Вечного.

“See!” he said to all the people. “This stone will be a witness against us. It has heard all the words the Lord has said to us. It will be a witness against you if you are untrue to your God.”

– Смотрите! – сказал он всему народу. – Этот камень будет свидетелем против нас, потому что он слышал все слова, которые сказал нам Вечный. Он будет свидетелем против вас, если вы солжёте Всевышнему.

Смерть и погребение Иешуа

Then Joshua dismissed the people, each to their own inheritance.

Buried in the Promised Land

И Иешуа отпустил народ, каждого в свой надел.

After these things, Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of a hundred and ten.

После этого Иешуа, сын Нуна, раб Вечного, умер в возрасте ста десяти лет.

And they buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath Serah^[c] in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash.

Его похоронили в земле его надела, в Тимнат-Серахе, в нагорьях Ефраима к северу от горы Гааш.

Israel served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him and who had experienced everything the Lord had done for Israel.

Исраил служил Вечному во всё время жизни Иешуа и старейшин, которые пережили его, и которым довелось увидеть всё, что сделал для Исраила Вечный.

And Joseph’s bones, which the Israelites had brought up from Egypt, were buried at Shechem in the tract of land that Jacob bought for a hundred pieces of silver^[d] from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem. This became the inheritance of Joseph’s descendants.

А кости Юсуфа, которые исраильтяне вынесли из Египта, были захоронены в Шехеме на участке земли, что Якуб купил за сто мер серебра^[b] у сыновей Еммора, отца Шехема. Он вошёл в удел потомков Юсуфа.

And Eleazar son of Aaron died and was buried at Gibeah, which had been allotted to his son Phinehas in the hill country of Ephraim.

Элеазар, сын Харуна, умер и был похоронен в Гиве, который достался его сыну Пинхасу, в нагорьях Ефраима.
