Job 10

“I loathe my very life;
    therefore I will give free rein to my complaint
    and speak out in the bitterness of my soul.

Мне опротивела жизнь,
    дам волю моей жалобе,
    буду говорить в горечи души.

I say to God: Do not declare me guilty,
    but tell me what charges you have against me.

Я Всевышнему скажу: «Не осуждай меня.
    Скажи же, что Ты против меня имеешь?

Does it please you to oppress me,
    to spurn the work of your hands,
    while you smile on the plans of the wicked?

Или Тебе нравится быть жестоким,
    презирать создание Твоих рук,
    одобряя замыслы нечестивых?

Do you have eyes of flesh?
    Do you see as a mortal sees?

Разве у Тебя такие же глаза, как у смертных?
    Разве смотришь Ты так же, как смотрят они?

Are your days like those of a mortal
    or your years like those of a strong man,

Разве Твои дни, как дни смертных,
    и года, как у человека,

that you must search out my faults
    and probe after my sin—

что Ты торопишься найти мою вину
    и выискать мой грех –

though you know that I am not guilty
    and that no one can rescue me from your hand?

хоть и знаешь, что я невиновен?
    Никто меня от Тебя не спасёт.

“Your hands shaped me and made me.
    Will you now turn and destroy me?

Руки Твои вылепили и создали меня,
    а теперь Ты губишь меня?

Remember that you molded me like clay.
    Will you now turn me to dust again?

Вспомни, что Ты вылепил меня, как из глины.
    Неужели ныне вернёшь меня в прах?

Did you not pour me out like milk
    and curdle me like cheese,

Не Ты ли в утробу излил меня, как молоко,
    и там сгустил меня, как творог,

clothe me with skin and flesh
    and knit me together with bones and sinews?

кожей и плотью меня одел,
    костями и жилами скрепил?

You gave me life and showed me kindness,
    and in your providence watched over my spirit.

Ты мне жизнь даровал и явил мне милость,
    и Твоей заботой хранился мой дух.

“But this is what you concealed in your heart,
    and I know that this was in your mind:

Но вот то, что Ты в сердце Своём сокрыл,
    и я знаю, что Ты это задумал:

If I sinned, you would be watching me
    and would not let my offense go unpunished.

если я согрешу, Ты выследишь
    и не оставишь без наказания.

If I am guilty—woe to me!
    Even if I am innocent, I cannot lift my head,
for I am full of shame
    and drowned in^[a] my affliction.

Если я виновен – горе мне!
    Но если и прав, мне головы не поднять,
потому что горю от стыда
    и пресыщен бедствием.

If I hold my head high, you stalk me like a lion
    and again display your awesome power against me.

Если голову подниму,
    Ты бросаешься на меня, как лев,
    вновь и вновь поражая меня устрашающей силой.

You bring new witnesses against me
    and increase your anger toward me;
    your forces come against me wave upon wave.

Приводишь новых свидетелей против меня,
    умножаешь против меня Свой гнев
    и свежие войска бросаешь на меня.

“Why then did you bring me out of the womb?
    I wish I had died before any eye saw me.

Зачем Ты дал мне родиться?
    Лучше бы я умер, и никто бы меня не увидел.

If only I had never come into being,
    or had been carried straight from the womb to the grave!

Как бы я хотел никогда не жить,
    сразу из утробы перенестись в могилу!

Are not my few days almost over?
    Turn away from me so I can have a moment’s joy

Разве дни моей жизни не кратки?
    Отступи от меня, чтобы утешиться мне на миг,

before I go to the place of no return,
    to the land of gloom and utter darkness,

прежде чем в путь безвозвратный отправлюсь,
    в край мрака и смертной мглы,

to the land of deepest night,
    of utter darkness and disorder,
    where even the light is like darkness.”
