James 5

Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you.

Теперь послушайте меня вы, богатые. Плачьте и рыдайте, потому что на вас надвигаются несчастья.

Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes.

Ваше богатство сгнило, вашу одежду изъела моль.

Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.

Ваше золото и серебро проржавели, и их ржавчина будет свидетельством против вас и, как огонь, пожрёт вас. Вы собрали богатство в эти последние дни!

Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.

Те деньги, что вы недоплатили работникам, собравшим урожай на ваших полях, громко кричат. Вопль жнецов слышит Вечный, Повелитель Сил.

You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.^[a]

Вы жили на земле в роскоши и удовольствиях, но откормили себя лишь на погибель.

You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.

Patience in Suffering

Вы осудили и убили невинных людей, которые не сопротивлялись вам.

Терпение в страданиях

Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.

Итак, братья, наберитесь терпения до пришествия Вечного Повелителя. Земледельцу тоже приходится терпеливо ждать драгоценного плода земли, ждать осенних и весенних дождей^[a].

You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.

Будьте же и вы терпеливы и будьте тверды в своей надежде, потому что пришествие Вечного Повелителя близко.

Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!

Не жалуйтесь, братья, друг на друга, чтобы не подвергнуться осуждению. Судья уже стоит у дверей.

Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

Братья, пусть для вас примером терпения в страданиях будут пророки, которые говорили во имя Вечного.

As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

Мы считаем благословенными тех, кто проявлял стойкость. Вы слышали о стойкости Аюба и знаете, как в конце Вечный благословил его,^[b] потому что Вечный милостив и милосерден^[c].

О клятве

Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise you will be condemned.

The Prayer of Faith

Прежде всего, братья мои, не клянитесь ни небом, ни землёй, ни какой-либо другой клятвой. Пусть ваше «да» будет настоящим «да», а ваше «нет» – настоящим «нет», чтобы вам не быть осуждёнными.

Сила молитвы

Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.

Если кто-либо из вас страдает – пусть молится, если счастлив – пусть поёт хвалебные песни,

Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.

если болен – пусть позовёт старейшин общины верующих, чтобы те помолились над ним и помазали его маслом во имя Повелителя^[d].

And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.

И молитва с верой исцелит больного: Вечный поднимет его. Если заболевший согрешил, то он будет прощён.

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Признавайтесь друг перед другом в ваших грехах и молитесь друг за друга, чтобы получить исцеление. Усиленная молитва праведного может многое.

Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.

Пророк Ильяс был таким же человеком, как и мы. Но он ревностно помолился, чтобы не было дождя, и на земле не было дождя три с половиной года.

Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

Потом, опять же по его молитве, небо дало дождь, и земля снова начала приносить урожай.^[e]

Об уклонившихся от истины

My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back,

Братья мои, если кто-то из вас уклонится от истины, а другой возвратит его к ней,

remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

то пусть вернувший грешника на правильный путь знает, что он этим спасёт душу грешника от смерти и покроет множество грехов^[f].
