Isaiah 32

See, a king will reign in righteousness
    and rulers will rule with justice.

Вот, Царь будет царствовать в праведности,
    и правители будут править справедливо.

Each one will be like a shelter from the wind
    and a refuge from the storm,
like streams of water in the desert
    and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.

Каждый будет словно укрытие от ветра
    и приют от бури,
как потоки воды в пустыне
    и тень огромной скалы в жаждущей земле.

Then the eyes of those who see will no longer be closed,
    and the ears of those who hear will listen.

Тогда глаза видящих больше не закроются,
    и уши слышащих будут слушать.

The fearful heart will know and understand,
    and the stammering tongue will be fluent and clear.

Разум нетерпеливых научится понимать,
    и языки заикающихся будут говорить гладко и ясно.

No longer will the fool be called noble
    nor the scoundrel be highly respected.

Не будут больше глупца называть благородным
    и подлеца – почтенным.

For fools speak folly,
    their hearts are bent on evil:
They practice ungodliness
    and spread error concerning the Lord;
the hungry they leave empty
    and from the thirsty they withhold water.

Ведь глупец говорит глупости,
    разум его помышляет о зле –
поступать лицемерно
    и распространять заблуждения о Вечном;
он голодного оставит голодным
    и у жаждущего отнимет питьё.

Scoundrels use wicked methods,
    they make up evil schemes
to destroy the poor with lies,
    even when the plea of the needy is just.

Приёмы подлеца скверные,
    он вынашивает злобные мысли –
погубить бедняков ложью,
    даже если жалоба бедных справедлива.

But the noble make noble plans,
    and by noble deeds they stand.

А благородный мыслит благородно
    и стоит за благородные дела.

You women who are so complacent,
    rise up and listen to me;
you daughters who feel secure,
    hear what I have to say!

Беззаботные женщины,
    встаньте, послушайте меня;
беспечные дочери,
    слушайте мою речь!

In little more than a year
    you who feel secure will tremble;
the grape harvest will fail,
    and the harvest of fruit will not come.

Немногим больше, чем через год,
    вы, беспечные, содрогнётесь,
потому что сбора винограда не будет,
    не наступит время сбора плодов.

Tremble, you complacent women;
    shudder, you daughters who feel secure!
Strip off your fine clothes
    and wrap yourselves in rags.

Трепещите, беззаботные женщины,
    дрожите, беспечные дочери!
В горе сорвите свои одежды
    и рубищем оберните бёдра.

Beat your breasts for the pleasant fields,
    for the fruitful vines

Бейте себя в грудь, скорбя о полях плодородных
    и плодоносных лозах,

and for the land of my people,
    a land overgrown with thorns and briers—
yes, mourn for all houses of merriment
    and for this city of revelry.

о земле моего народа,
    которая порастёт терновником и колючками.
Плачьте о всех домах радости,
    о ликующем ныне городе,

The fortress will be abandoned,
    the noisy city deserted;
citadel and watchtower will become a wasteland forever,
    the delight of donkeys, a pasture for flocks,

ведь дворцы будут оставлены
    и шумный город покинут;
крепость и сторожевая башня будут заброшены навеки,
    станут пустошью, на радость диким ослам,
    пастбищем для стад,

till the Spirit is poured on us from on high,
    and the desert becomes a fertile field,
    and the fertile field seems like a forest.

пока не изольётся на нас Дух свыше
    и не станет пустыня плодородным полем,
    а плодородное поле не сочтут лесом.

The Lord’s justice will dwell in the desert,
    his righteousness live in the fertile field.

Правосудие будет обитать в пустыне
    и праведность – в плодородном поле.

The fruit of that righteousness will be peace;
    its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.

Плодом праведности будет мир;
    следствием праведности будут покой и безопасность навеки.

My people will live in peaceful dwelling places,
    in secure homes,
    in undisturbed places of rest.

Мой народ будет жить в мирных жилищах,
    в надёжных домах,
    в безопасных местах.

Though hail flattens the forest
    and the city is leveled completely,

Даже если лес будет полностью уничтожен^[a],
    и город сровняется с землёй,

how blessed you will be,
    sowing your seed by every stream,
    and letting your cattle and donkeys range free.
