Verse 1

In the twelfth year, in the twelfth month on the first day, the word of the Lord came to me:

В двенадцатом году, в первый день двенадцатого месяца (3 марта 585 г. до н. э.), было ко мне слово Вечного:

Verse 2

“Son of man, take up a lament concerning Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him:

“‘You are like a lion among the nations;
    you are like a monster in the seas
thrashing about in your streams,
    churning the water with your feet
    and muddying the streams.

– Смертный, подними плач о фараоне, царе Египта, и скажи ему:

«Ты мнишь себя львом меж народами,
    а похож на морское чудовище;
ты мечешься в реках,
    лапами мутишь воду
    и реки поганишь».

Verse 3

“‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“‘With a great throng of people
I will cast my net over you,
and they will haul you up in my net.

Так говорит Владыка Вечный:

– Среди множества народов
Я закину на тебя сеть,
и они тебя неводом вытащат.

Verse 4

I will throw you on the land
and hurl you on the open field.
I will let all the birds of the sky settle on you
and all the animals of the wild gorge themselves on you.

Я брошу тебя на землю,
повергну в открытом поле.
Птицы рассядутся на тебе,
наестся тобой зверьё.

Verse 5

I will spread your flesh on the mountains
and fill the valleys with your remains.

Я раскидаю твою плоть по горам,
наполню долины твоими останками.

Verse 6

I will drench the land with your flowing blood
all the way to the mountains,
and the ravines will be filled with your flesh.

Землю, до самых гор,
орошу Я потоками твоей крови,
и наполнятся плотью твоей ущелья.

Verse 7

When I snuff you out, I will cover the heavens
and darken their stars;
I will cover the sun with a cloud,
and the moon will not give its light.

Тебя угасив, Я небеса закрою
и погашу в них звёзды;
Я закрою облаком солнце,
и не будет светить луна.

Verse 8

All the shining lights in the heavens
I will darken over you;
I will bring darkness over your land,
declares the Sovereign Lord.

Все светила, сияющие на небе,
    Я помрачу над тобой
    и мраком землю твою покрою, –
        возвещает Владыка Вечный. –

Verse 9

I will trouble the hearts of many peoples
when I bring about your destruction among the nations,
among^[a] lands you have not known.

Я наполню тревогой сердца многих народов,
когда поведу тебя в плен^[a] меж народами
в страны тебе незнакомые.

Verse 10

I will cause many peoples to be appalled at you,
    and their kings will shudder with horror because of you
    when I brandish my sword before them.
On the day of your downfall
    each of them will tremble
    every moment for his life.

Участи твоей ужаснутся многие народы,
    и цари их будут дрожать от страха, думая о тебе,
    когда Я взмахну перед ними мечом.
В день твоего падения
    каждый из них ежеминутно
    будет за жизнь свою трепетать.

Verse 11

“‘For this is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“‘The sword of the king of Babylon
will come against you.

Ведь так говорит Владыка Вечный:

– Меч царя Вавилона
двинется на тебя.

Verse 12

I will cause your hordes to fall
    by the swords of mighty men—
    the most ruthless of all nations.
They will shatter the pride of Egypt,
    and all her hordes will be overthrown.

Я разобью твои орды
    мечами могучих воинов,
    жесточайших из всех народов.
Они растопчут гордыню Египта
    и истребят его орды.

Verse 13

I will destroy all her cattle
from beside abundant waters
no longer to be stirred by the foot of man
or muddied by the hooves of cattle.

Я погублю его скот,
что пасётся у обильных вод.
И ни нога человека больше не взволнует эти воды,
ни копыто скота не замутит их впредь.

Verse 14

Then I will let her waters settle
and make her streams flow like oil,
declares the Sovereign Lord.

Я дам отстояться водам и сделаю так,
что его реки будут струиться, словно родник, –
возвещает Владыка Вечный. –

Verse 15

When I make Egypt desolate
and strip the land of everything in it,
when I strike down all who live there,
then they will know that I am the Lord.’

Когда Я сделаю землю Египта пустыней,
и она лишится всего, что её наполняет,
когда Я сражу её жителей,
тогда они узнают, что Я – Вечный.

Verse 16

“This is the lament they will chant for her. The daughters of the nations will chant it; for Egypt and all her hordes they will chant it, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

Egypt’s Descent Into the Realm of the Dead

– Это плач, песня, которую будут петь. Её будут петь дочери народов. Они будут петь её о Египте и его полчищах, – возвещает Владыка Вечный.

Египет спускается в мир мёртвых

Verse 17

In the twelfth year, on the fifteenth day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me:

В двенадцатом году, в пятнадцатый день месяца (17 марта 585 г. до н. э.), было ко мне слово Вечного:

Verse 18

“Son of man, wail for the hordes of Egypt and consign to the earth below both her and the daughters of mighty nations, along with those who go down to the pit.

– Смертный, оплачь египетские полчища и повергни и их, и Египет, и дочерей сильных народов в нижний мир, к тем, кто спускается в пропасть.

Verse 19

Say to them, ‘Are you more favored than others? Go down and be laid among the uncircumcised.’

Скажи им: «Кого вы превосходите красотой? Спускайтесь, чтобы упокоиться с необрезанными».

Verse 20

They will fall among those killed by the sword. The sword is drawn; let her be dragged off with all her hordes.

Они падут среди убитых мечом. Меч занесён – гоните Египет с его полчищами прочь.

Verse 21

From within the realm of the dead the mighty leaders will say of Egypt and her allies, ‘They have come down and they lie with the uncircumcised, with those killed by the sword.’

Могучие вожди скажут из мира мёртвых о Египте и его помощниках: «Они спустились и лежат с необрезанными, с теми, кто пал от меча».

Verse 22

“Assyria is there with her whole army; she is surrounded by the graves of all her slain, all who have fallen by the sword.

Там Ассирия со своим войском; она окружена могилами своих убитых, тех, кто пал от меча.

Verse 23

Their graves are in the depths of the pit and her army lies around her grave. All who had spread terror in the land of the living are slain, fallen by the sword.

Их могилы – в глубине пропасти. Её войско лежит вокруг её могилы. Те, кто сеял страх на земле живых, убиты, пали от меча.

Verse 24

“Elam is there, with all her hordes around her grave. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword. All who had spread terror in the land of the living went down uncircumcised to the earth below. They bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.

Там Елам со своими полчищами вокруг его могилы. Они убиты, пали от меча. Те, кто сеял страх на земле живых, сошли необрезанными в нижний мир. Они несут свой позор с теми, кто спустился в пропасть.

Verse 25

A bed is made for her among the slain, with all her hordes around her grave. All of them are uncircumcised, killed by the sword. Because their terror had spread in the land of the living, they bear their shame with those who go down to the pit; they are laid among the slain.

Еламу приготовили ложе среди убитых, и его полчища лежат вокруг его могилы. Они – необрезанные, убитые мечом. За то, что страх перед ними распространялся по земле живых, они несут свой позор вместе с теми, кто спустился в пропасть, их положили среди убитых.

Verse 26

“Meshek and Tubal are there, with all their hordes around their graves. All of them are uncircumcised, killed by the sword because they spread their terror in the land of the living.

Там Мешех и Тувал со своими полчищами вокруг их могил. Они – необрезанные, убитые мечом за то, что сеяли страх на земле живых.

Verse 27

But they do not lie with the fallen warriors of old,^[b] who went down to the realm of the dead with their weapons of war—their swords placed under their heads and their shields^[c] resting on their bones—though these warriors also had terrorized the land of the living.

Не лежат они с павшими воинами из числа необрезанных, которые сошли в мир мёртвых с оружием, чьи мечи положены им под голову, чьи щиты^[b] покоятся на их костях. Эти воины некогда сеяли страх на земле живых.

Verse 28

“You too, Pharaoh, will be broken and will lie among the uncircumcised, with those killed by the sword.

И ты, фараон, будешь сокрушён и ляжешь среди необрезанных, рядом с теми, кто пал от меча.

Verse 29

“Edom is there, her kings and all her princes; despite their power, they are laid with those killed by the sword. They lie with the uncircumcised, with those who go down to the pit.

Там Эдом, его цари и вожди; невзирая на их силу, их положили среди тех, кто пал от меча. Они лежат с необрезанными, с теми, кто спускается в пропасть.

Verse 30

“All the princes of the north and all the Sidonians are there; they went down with the slain in disgrace despite the terror caused by their power. They lie uncircumcised with those killed by the sword and bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.

Там правители Севера и сидоняне. Они спустились туда с убитыми, опозоренные, хотя их сила наводила страх. Они лежат необрезанными с теми, кто пал от меча, и несут свой позор с теми, кто спускается в пропасть.

Verse 31

“Pharaoh—he and all his army—will see them and he will be consoled for all his hordes that were killed by the sword, declares the Sovereign Lord.

Фараон увидит их и утешится о своих полчищах, что не только они – он сам и всё его войско – пали от меча, – возвещает Владыка Вечный. –

Verse 32

Although I had him spread terror in the land of the living, Pharaoh and all his hordes will be laid among the uncircumcised, with those killed by the sword, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

Хотя Я и наводил страх перед ним на земле живых, фараона и его полчища положат среди необрезанных, рядом с теми, кто пал от меча, – возвещает Владыка Вечный.
