Ezekiel 17

The word of the Lord came to me:

Было ко мне слово Вечного:

“Son of man, set forth an allegory and tell it to the Israelites as a parable.

– Смертный, предложи народу Исраила загадку и расскажи притчу.

Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: A great eagle with powerful wings, long feathers and full plumage of varied colors came to Lebanon. Taking hold of the top of a cedar,

Скажи им: Так говорит Владыка Вечный: «Большой орёл с сильными крыльями, с длинными перьями, с богатым, разноцветным оперением прилетел на Ливан. Он схватился за верхушку кедра,

he broke off its topmost shoot and carried it away to a land of merchants, where he planted it in a city of traders.

отломил верхний побег и унёс в купеческую страну, и посадил там в городе торговцев.

“‘He took one of the seedlings of the land and put it in fertile soil. He planted it like a willow by abundant water,

Он взял немного из семян этой земли и посадил в плодородную почву. Он посадил семя, которое выросло подобно иве у больших вод,

and it sprouted and became a low, spreading vine. Its branches turned toward him, but its roots remained under it. So it became a vine and produced branches and put out leafy boughs.

оно выросло и стало виноградной лозой, раскидистой, но низкой. Ветви её клонились к орлу, а корни остались там, где были. Так выросла лоза; она пустила побеги и покрылась листвой.

“‘But there was another great eagle with powerful wings and full plumage. The vine now sent out its roots toward him from the plot where it was planted and stretched out its branches to him for water.

Но был ещё один большой орёл с сильными крыльями и пышным оперением. И вот эта лоза простёрла к нему корни; она протянула к нему ветви, чтобы он её напоил.

It had been planted in good soil by abundant water so that it would produce branches, bear fruit and become a splendid vine.’

Она была пересажена на хорошую почву у больших вод, чтобы пускать побеги, приносить плоды и быть великолепной лозой!»

“Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Will it thrive? Will it not be uprooted and stripped of its fruit so that it withers? All its new growth will wither. It will not take a strong arm or many people to pull it up by the roots.

Скажи: Так говорит Владыка Вечный: «Разве она приживётся и будет расти? Разве её не выдернут с корнем и не оберут с неё плодов так, что она засохнет? Засохнет вся её свежая поросль. Не нужна будет крепкая рука сильного войска, чтобы выдернуть её с корнем.

It has been planted, but will it thrive? Will it not wither completely when the east wind strikes it—wither away in the plot where it grew?’”

Даже если её пересадят, разве она приживётся и будет расти? Разве она не засохнет окончательно, когда подует на неё восточный ветер, разве не засохнет там, где растёт?»

Then the word of the Lord came to me:

Было ко мне слово Вечного:

“Say to this rebellious people, ‘Do you not know what these things mean?’ Say to them: ‘The king of Babylon went to Jerusalem and carried off her king and her nobles, bringing them back with him to Babylon.

– Скажи этому мятежному народу: «Разве вы не знаете, что это значит?» Скажи им: «Вот вавилонский царь Навуходоносор^[a] пришёл в Иерусалим, взял его царя Иоакима с приближёнными и увёл к себе в Вавилон.

Then he took a member of the royal family and made a treaty with him, putting him under oath. He also carried away the leading men of the land,

Он взял одного из членов царского рода и заключил с ним соглашение, связав его клятвой. Он также увёл и знать страны,

so that the kingdom would be brought low, unable to rise again, surviving only by keeping his treaty.

чтобы царство склонило голову, не способное подняться впредь, и существовало бы, лишь соблюдая его договор.

But the king rebelled against him by sending his envoys to Egypt to get horses and a large army. Will he succeed? Will he who does such things escape? Will he break the treaty and yet escape?

Но царь Иерусалима пытался восстать против царя Вавилона, отправив послов в Египет, чтобы добыть коней и большое войско. Разве он преуспеет? Разве тот, кто сделал это, уцелеет? Разве он уцелеет, нарушив договор?

“‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, he shall die in Babylon, in the land of the king who put him on the throne, whose oath he despised and whose treaty he broke.

Верно, как и то, что Я живу, – возвещает Владыка Вечный, – что он умрёт в Вавилоне, в стране царя, который возвёл его на престол, клятву которому он нарушил и договор с которым он расторг.

Pharaoh with his mighty army and great horde will be of no help to him in war, when ramps are built and siege works erected to destroy many lives.

Фараон с сильным войском, огромной ордой, не поможет ему на войне, когда армия царя Вавилона станет делать насыпи и возводить осадные валы, чтобы погубить множество жизней.

He despised the oath by breaking the covenant. Because he had given his hand in pledge and yet did all these things, he shall not escape.

За то, что он пренебрёг клятвой и расторг соглашение, за то, что он подал руку в знак обещания и всё-таки сделал по-своему, ему не спастись».

“‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: As surely as I live, I will repay him for despising my oath and breaking my covenant.

Поэтому так говорит Владыка Вечный: «Верно, как и то, что Я живу, – Я обрушу ему на голову Мою клятву, которой он пренебрёг, и Моё соглашение, которое он расторг.

I will spread my net for him, and he will be caught in my snare. I will bring him to Babylon and execute judgment on him there because he was unfaithful to me.

Я раскину ему Мою сеть, и он попадётся в Мою западню. Я приведу его в Вавилон и там буду судить за измену, которую он совершил против Меня.

All his choice troops will fall by the sword, and the survivors will be scattered to the winds. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken.

Его лучшие^[b] воины падут от меча, а уцелевшие будут развеяны по всем ветрам. Тогда вы узнаете, что Я, Вечный, говорил».

“‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will take a shoot from the very top of a cedar and plant it; I will break off a tender sprig from its topmost shoots and plant it on a high and lofty mountain.

Так говорит Владыка Вечный: «Я сам возьму росток с самой верхушки кедра и посажу его. Я отломлю нежный росток с верхних его побегов и посажу на высокой и величественной горе.

On the mountain heights of Israel I will plant it; it will produce branches and bear fruit and become a splendid cedar. Birds of every kind will nest in it; they will find shelter in the shade of its branches.

На горных высотах Исраила Я посажу его; он пустит ветви, и принесёт плод, и станет благородным кедром. Разные птицы станут вить на нём гнёзда; в тени его ветвей они найдут приют.

All the trees of the forest will know that I the Lord bring down the tall tree and make the low tree grow tall. I dry up the green tree and make the dry tree flourish.

“‘I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it.’”

Все деревья в лесу узнают, что Я, Вечный, сделал низким высокое дерево и возвысил дерево низкое. Я иссушаю зелёное дерево, а сухое дерево делаю цветущим.

Я, Вечный, сказал это и сделаю».
