Ezekiel 15

The word of the Lord came to me:

Было ко мне слово Вечного:

“Son of man, how is the wood of a vine different from that of a branch from any of the trees in the forest?

– Смертный, чем древесина виноградной лозы лучше древесины ветвей всех деревьев леса?

Is wood ever taken from it to make anything useful? Do they make pegs from it to hang things on?

Разве берут древесину виноградной лозы, чтобы сделать что-нибудь нужное? Разве делают из неё хотя бы колышки, чтобы развешивать вещи?

And after it is thrown on the fire as fuel and the fire burns both ends and chars the middle, is it then useful for anything?

А когда её бросают в огонь как топливо, и огонь сжигает оба её конца и обугливает середину, то годится ли она на что-нибудь после этого?

If it was not useful for anything when it was whole, how much less can it be made into something useful when the fire has burned it and it is charred?

Если она ни на что не годилась, когда была целой, то на что же она сгодится после того, как её поглотил огонь, и она обуглилась?

“Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: As I have given the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest as fuel for the fire, so will I treat the people living in Jerusalem.

Поэтому так говорит Владыка Вечный:

– Как Я отдал древесину виноградной лозы среди деревьев леса на пожирание огню, так поступлю Я и с жителями Иерусалима.

I will set my face against them. Although they have come out of the fire, the fire will yet consume them. And when I set my face against them, you will know that I am the Lord.

Я обращу лицо Моё против них. Даже если они выберутся из огня, огонь всё равно поглотит их. И когда Я обращу против них Своё лицо, они узнают, что Я – Вечный.

I will make the land desolate because they have been unfaithful, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

Я предам землю опустошению за то, что они нарушили верность, – возвещает Владыка Вечный.
