Exodus 8

Вечный сказал Мусе:

– Пойди к фараону и скажи ему: Так говорит Вечный: «Отпусти Мой народ поклониться Мне.

If you refuse to let them go, I will send a plague of frogs on your whole country.

Если ты откажешься, Я наведу на всю твою страну жаб^[a].

The Nile will teem with frogs. They will come up into your palace and your bedroom and onto your bed, into the houses of your officials and on your people, and into your ovens and kneading troughs.

Нил будет кишеть жабами. Они вылезут из реки и окажутся в твоём дворце, в спальне, на постели, в домах твоих приближённых и твоего народа^[b], в твоих тандырах и в квашнях.

The frogs will come up on you and your people and all your officials.’”

Жабы будут прыгать на тебя, на твой народ и на твоих приближённых».

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your staff over the streams and canals and ponds, and make frogs come up on the land of Egypt.’”

Вечный сказал Мусе:

– Скажи Харуну: «Занеси руку с посохом над реками, каналами и прудами и наведи жаб на египетскую землю».

So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land.

Харун занёс руку с посохом над водами Египта, и вылезли жабы и заполнили всю землю.

But the magicians did the same things by their secret arts; they also made frogs come up on the land of Egypt.

Но чародеи с помощью колдовства сделали то же самое. Они тоже навели жаб на Египет.

Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Pray to the Lord to take the frogs away from me and my people, and I will let your people go to offer sacrifices to the Lord.”

Фараон позвал Мусу и Харуна и сказал:

– Помолитесь Вечному, чтобы Он избавил от жаб меня и мой народ, и я отпущу исраильтян принести жертву Вечному.

Moses said to Pharaoh, “I leave to you the honor of setting the time for me to pray for you and your officials and your people that you and your houses may be rid of the frogs, except for those that remain in the Nile.”

Муса сказал фараону:

– Я предоставляю тебе честь выбрать, когда мне помолиться за тебя, за твоих приближённых и народ. После этого жабы уйдут от тебя и из твоих дворцов и останутся только в Ниле.

“Tomorrow,” Pharaoh said.

Moses replied, “It will be as you say, so that you may know there is no one like the Lord our God.

– Завтра, – сказал фараон.

Муса ответил:

– Будет по-твоему для того, чтобы ты узнал: нет никого, подобного Вечному, нашему Богу.

The frogs will leave you and your houses, your officials and your people; they will remain only in the Nile.”

Жабы уйдут от тебя и из твоего дворца, от твоих приближённых и народа. Они останутся только в Ниле.

After Moses and Aaron left Pharaoh, Moses cried out to the Lord about the frogs he had brought on Pharaoh.

Муса и Харун ушли от фараона, и Муса воззвал к Вечному о жабах, которых Он навёл на фараона.

And the Lord did what Moses asked. The frogs died in the houses, in the courtyards and in the fields.

Вечный исполнил просьбу Мусы. Жабы вымерли в домах, во дворах и на полях.

They were piled into heaps, and the land reeked of them.

Их собирали в кучи, и земля начала испускать зловоние.

But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said.

The Plague of Gnats

Но когда фараон увидел, что пришло облегчение, его сердце исполнилось упрямством, и он опять не послушал Мусу и Харуна, как и говорил Вечный.

Третье наказание: комары

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the ground,’ and throughout the land of Egypt the dust will become gnats.”

Вечный сказал Мусе:

– Скажи Харуну: «Подними посох и ударь по пыли на земле: по всему Египту пыль превратится в комаров».

They did this, and when Aaron stretched out his hand with the staff and struck the dust of the ground, gnats came on people and animals. All the dust throughout the land of Egypt became gnats.

Они сделали так. Харун поднял руку с посохом, ударил по пыли. Пыль по всему Египту превратилась в комаров. Комары налетели и на людей, и на скот.

But when the magicians tried to produce gnats by their secret arts, they could not.

Since the gnats were on people and animals everywhere,

Чародеи попытались с помощью колдовства навести комаров, но не смогли. Комары облепляли людей и скотину.

the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart was hard and he would not listen, just as the Lord had said.

The Plague of Flies

И тогда чародеи сказали фараону:

– Это сделал Всевышний.

Но сердце фараона оставалось упрямым. Он не послушал чародеев, как и говорил Вечный.

Четвёртое наказание: мухи

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning and confront Pharaoh as he goes to the river and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me.

Вечный сказал Мусе:

– Поднимись завтра рано утром, встань перед фараоном, когда он пойдёт к реке, и скажи ему: Так говорит Вечный: «Отпусти Мой народ поклониться Мне.

If you do not let my people go, I will send swarms of flies on you and your officials, on your people and into your houses. The houses of the Egyptians will be full of flies; even the ground will be covered with them.

Если не отпустишь, Я пошлю на тебя, на твоих приближённых, на твой народ и в твои дворцы рои мух. Дома египтян наполнятся мухами и вся земля будет покрыта ими.

“‘But on that day I will deal differently with the land of Goshen, where my people live; no swarms of flies will be there, so that you will know that I, the Lord, am in this land.

Но Я сделаю так, что в земле Гошен, где живёт Мой народ, не будет мух, чтобы ты знал – Я, Вечный, пребываю в той земле.

I will make a distinction^[b] between my people and your people. This sign will occur tomorrow.’”

Я покажу тебе разницу между Моим и твоим народом. Это знамение будет завтра».

And the Lord did this. Dense swarms of flies poured into Pharaoh’s palace and into the houses of his officials; throughout Egypt the land was ruined by the flies.

Вечный так и сделал. Густые рои мух налетели во дворец фараона и в дома его приближённых. Из-за мух погибала вся египетская земля.

Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Go, sacrifice to your God here in the land.”

Фараон позвал Мусу и Харуна и сказал:

– Идите, принесите жертву вашему Богу, но только в этой стране, в Египте.

But Moses said, “That would not be right. The sacrifices we offer the Lord our God would be detestable to the Egyptians. And if we offer sacrifices that are detestable in their eyes, will they not stone us?

Но Муса сказал:

– Так делать нельзя. Наши жертвоприношения Вечному, нашему Богу, для египтян – мерзость. Если мы станем совершать обряд жертвоприношения, который противен им, у них на глазах, то они забьют нас камнями.

We must take a three-day journey into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to the Lord our God, as he commands us.”

Нет, чтобы принести жертву Вечному, нашему Богу, как Он велел, нам нужно удалиться на три дня в пустыню.

Pharaoh said, “I will let you go to offer sacrifices to the Lord your God in the wilderness, but you must not go very far. Now pray for me.”

Фараон сказал:

– Я отпущу вас принести жертву Вечному, вашему Богу, в пустыню, но только не уходите далеко. Помолитесь и обо мне.

Moses answered, “As soon as I leave you, I will pray to the Lord, and tomorrow the flies will leave Pharaoh and his officials and his people. Only let Pharaoh be sure that he does not act deceitfully again by not letting the people go to offer sacrifices to the Lord.”

Муса ответил:

– Как только я уйду от тебя, я помолюсь Вечному, и завтра мухи оставят тебя, твоих приближённых и народ. Но и ты больше не обманывай, не отпуская народ принести жертву Вечному.

Then Moses left Pharaoh and prayed to the Lord,

Муса ушёл от фараона и помолился Вечному.

and the Lord did what Moses asked. The flies left Pharaoh and his officials and his people; not a fly remained.

Вечный сделал то, что просил Муса: избавил фараона, его приближённых и народ от мух. Ни одной мухи не осталось.

But this time also Pharaoh hardened his heart and would not let the people go.

Но и на этот раз сердце фараона осталось упрямым, и он не отпустил народ.
