Deuteronomy 29

^[a]These are the terms of the covenant the Lord commanded Moses to make with the Israelites in Moab, in addition to the covenant he had made with them at Horeb.

Moses summoned all the Israelites and said to them:

Your eyes have seen all that the Lord did in Egypt to Pharaoh, to all his officials and to all his land.

Муса призвал исраильтян и сказал им:

Ваши глаза видели всё, что Вечный сделал в Египте с фараоном, со всеми его приближёнными и со всей его землёй.

With your own eyes you saw those great trials, those signs and great wonders.

Вы своими глазами видели те великие кары, знамения и великие чудеса.

But to this day the Lord has not given you a mind that understands or eyes that see or ears that hear.

Но до этого дня Вечный не давал вам ума, который понимает, глаз, которые видят, и ушей, которые слышат.

Yet the Lord says, “During the forty years that I led you through the wilderness, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet.

За сорок лет, что Я вёл вас через пустыню, не ветшали ваши одежды, не изнашивались сандалии у вас на ногах.

You ate no bread and drank no wine or other fermented drink. I did this so that you might know that I am the Lord your God.”

Вы не ели хлеба и не пили ни вина, ни пива. Я заботился о вас, чтобы вы знали, что Я – Вечный, ваш Бог.

When you reached this place, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan came out to fight against us, but we defeated them.

Когда вы добрались до этого места, Сигон, царь Хешбона, и Ог, царь Башана, вышли сразиться с вами, но вы разбили их.

We took their land and gave it as an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh.

Вы взяли их земли и дали их в наследие родам Рувима, Гада и половине рода Манассы.

Carefully follow the terms of this covenant, so that you may prosper in everything you do.

Прилежно выполняйте условия этого священного соглашения, чтобы преуспевать во всех своих делах.

All of you are standing today in the presence of the Lord your God—your leaders and chief men, your elders and officials, and all the other men of Israel,

Все вы стоите сегодня в присутствии Вечного, вашего Бога, – ваши вожди и начальники, старейшины и надзиратели и все остальные мужчины Исраила,

together with your children and your wives, and the foreigners living in your camps who chop your wood and carry your water.

вместе с детьми, жёнами и чужеземцами, живущими в вашем лагере, которые рубят вам дрова и носят воду.

You are standing here in order to enter into a covenant with the Lord your God, a covenant the Lord is making with you this day and sealing with an oath,

Вы стоите сегодня здесь, чтобы вступить в священное соглашение с Вечным, вашим Богом. Это священное соглашение Вечный заключает сегодня с вами и скрепляет клятвой,

to confirm you this day as his people, that he may be your God as he promised you and as he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

чтобы сделать вас Своим народом, и чтобы Ему быть вашим Богом, как Он обещал вам и клялся вашим предкам: Ибрахиму, Исхаку и Якубу.

I am making this covenant, with its oath, not only with you

Я заключаю это священное соглашение, скреплённое клятвой, не только с вами,

who are standing here with us today in the presence of the Lord our God but also with those who are not here today.

стоящими здесь сегодня в присутствии Вечного, нашего Бога, но и с теми, кого здесь нет.

You yourselves know how we lived in Egypt and how we passed through the countries on the way here.

Вы сами знаете, как мы жили в Египте и как проходили через страны по дороге сюда.

You saw among them their detestable images and idols of wood and stone, of silver and gold.

Вы видели у них отвратительные образы и идолов из дерева и камня, из серебра и золота.

Make sure there is no man or woman, clan or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the Lord our God to go and worship the gods of those nations; make sure there is no root among you that produces such bitter poison.

Пусть же не будет среди вас мужчины или женщины, клана или рода, чьё сердце уклонится от Вечного, нашего Бога, чтобы идти и служить богам этих народов. Смотрите, чтобы среди вас не было такого корня, из которого произрастает горькое, ядовитое растение.

When such a person hears the words of this oath and they invoke a blessing on themselves, thinking, “I will be safe, even though I persist in going my own way,” they will bring disaster on the watered land as well as the dry.

Когда такой человек услышит слова этой клятвы, он призовёт на себя благословение, думая: «Я буду в безопасности, несмотря на то что продолжаю ходить своим собственным путём». Это наведёт беду на всех: на него и на весь остальной народ.^[b]

The Lord will never be willing to forgive them; his wrath and zeal will burn against them. All the curses written in this book will fall on them, and the Lord will blot out their names from under heaven.

Вечный никогда не захочет простить его. Его гнев и ревность воспламенятся против такого человека. Все проклятия, записанные в этом свитке, падут на него, и Вечный сотрёт память о нём из-под небес.

The Lord will single them out from all the tribes of Israel for disaster, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law.

Вечный выделит его из всех родов Исраила для бедствия, в соответствии со всеми проклятиями священного соглашения, записанными в этом свитке Закона.

Your children who follow you in later generations and foreigners who come from distant lands will see the calamities that have fallen on the land and the diseases with which the Lord has afflicted it.

Ваши дети, которые будут после вас в грядущих поколениях, и чужеземцы, которые придут из далёких земель, увидят бедствия, постигшие эту землю, и недуги, которыми Вечный поразил вас.

The whole land will be a burning waste of salt and sulfur—nothing planted, nothing sprouting, no vegetation growing on it. It will be like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim, which the Lord overthrew in fierce anger.

Вся земля будет горящей пустошью из соли и серы – ничто не будет сеяться, ничто не прорастёт, никакой растительности на ней не будет. Это будет подобно уничтожению Содома и Гоморры, Адмы и Цевоима, которые Вечный низвергнул в Своём страшном гневе.^[c]

All the nations will ask: “Why has the Lord done this to this land? Why this fierce, burning anger?”

Все народы спросят: «Почему Вечный поступил так с этой землёй? За что этот страшный, пылающий гнев?»

And the answer will be: “It is because this people abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, the covenant he made with them when he brought them out of Egypt.

Ответ будет таков: «За то, что этот народ оставил священное соглашение Вечного, Бога их предков, священное соглашение, которое Он заключил с ними, когда вывел их из Египта.

They went off and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did not know, gods he had not given them.

Они ушли служить другим богам, поклонялись богам, которых не знали, богам, которых Он им не назначал.

Therefore the Lord’s anger burned against this land, so that he brought on it all the curses written in this book.

Поэтому гнев Вечного вспыхнул на эту землю, чтобы навести на неё все проклятия, записанные в этом свитке.

In furious anger and in great wrath the Lord uprooted them from their land and thrust them into another land, as it is now.”

В ярости, негодовании и великом гневе Вечный искоренил их из их земли и бросил в другую землю, как это и есть сейчас».

The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.

Тайное принадлежит Вечному, нашему Богу, а открытое принадлежит нам и нашим детям навеки, чтобы мы следовали всем словам этого Закона.
