Deuteronomy 14

You are the children of the Lord your God. Do not cut yourselves or shave the front of your heads for the dead,

for you are a people holy to the Lord your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be his treasured possession.

потому что вы – святой народ Вечного, вашего Бога. Из всех народов на земле Вечный выбрал вас, чтобы вы были Его драгоценным достоянием.

Do not eat any detestable thing.

Не ешьте то, что мерзко Вечному.

These are the animals you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,

Вот животные, которых вы можете есть: волы, овцы, козы,

the deer, the gazelle, the roe deer, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope and the mountain sheep.^[a]

олени, газели, косули, дикие козлы, горные козлы, антилопы и горные бараны.^[b]

You may eat any animal that has a divided hoof and that chews the cud.

Вы можете есть любых животных, которые жуют жвачку и у которых раздвоенное копыто имеет глубокий разрез.

However, of those that chew the cud or that have a divided hoof you may not eat the camel, the rabbit or the hyrax. Although they chew the cud, they do not have a divided hoof; they are ceremonially unclean for you.

Но из тех животных, которые жуют жвачку, нельзя есть верблюда, кролика и дамана^[c], потому что у них нет раздвоенных копыт: они нечисты для вас.

The pig is also unclean; although it has a divided hoof, it does not chew the cud. You are not to eat their meat or touch their carcasses.

А свинья, хотя у неё копыто и раздвоено, не жуёт жвачку: она тоже нечиста для вас. Не ешьте их мясо и не прикасайтесь к их трупам.

Of all the creatures living in the water, you may eat any that has fins and scales.

Из существ, живущих в воде, вы можете есть тех, у которых есть плавники и чешуя.

But anything that does not have fins and scales you may not eat; for you it is unclean.

Но тех, у которых нет плавников и чешуи, не ешьте: они нечисты для вас.

You may eat any clean bird.

Вы можете есть любую чистую птицу.

But these you may not eat: the eagle, the vulture, the black vulture,

the red kite, the black kite, any kind of falcon,

any kind of raven,

никакого ворона,

the horned owl, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk,

сову, козодоя, чайку, никакого вида ястреба,

the little owl, the great owl, the white owl,

домового сыча, филина, белую сову,

the desert owl, the osprey, the cormorant,

пустынную сову, стервятника, большого баклана,

the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.

аиста, никакого вида цапли, удода и летучую мышь.

All flying insects are unclean to you; do not eat them.

Все летающие насекомые нечисты для вас – не ешьте их.

But any winged creature that is clean you may eat.

Но любых птиц, которые чисты, вы можете есть.

Do not eat anything you find already dead. You may give it to the foreigner residing in any of your towns, and they may eat it, or you may sell it to any other foreigner. But you are a people holy to the Lord your God.

Do not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.

Tithes

Не ешьте падаль. Отдайте или продайте её чужеземцу, живущему в любом из ваших городов, – ему можно её есть. Но вы – святой народ Вечного, вашего Бога.

Не варите козлёнка в молоке его матери.

Десятины

Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year.

Отделяйте десятину от всего, что ежегодно приносят ваши поля.

Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and olive oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the Lord your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the Lord your God always.

Ешьте десятину от зерна, молодого вина и масла и первородное ваших стад и отар в присутствии Вечного, вашего Бога, на том месте, которое Он выберет для поклонения Ему, чтобы вы научились всегда чтить Вечного, вашего Бога.

But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the Lord your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the Lord will choose to put his Name is so far away),

Но если это место слишком далеко, а вы, будучи благословлены Вечным, вашим Богом, не можете отнести свою десятину (потому что место, которое Вечный выберет для поклонения Ему, слишком далеко),

then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the Lord your God will choose.

то обменяйте свою десятину на серебро, возьмите серебро с собой и идите к тому месту, которое выберет Вечный, ваш Бог.

Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice.

Купите на это серебро всё, что захотите: крупный и мелкий скот, вино, пиво или другое, что пожелаете. А потом вместе со своей семьёй ешьте там в присутствии Вечного, вашего Бога, и веселитесь.

And do not neglect the Levites living in your towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance of their own.

Не пренебрегайте левитами, которые живут в ваших городах, ведь у них нет ни своего надела, ни наследия.

At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns,

Раз в три года отделяйте от всякого урожая десятины и складывайте их там, где живёте,

so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

чтобы левиты (у которых нет ни своего надела, ни наследия), чужеземцы, сироты и вдовы, которые живут в ваших городах, могли прийти, поесть и насытиться, и чтобы Вечный, ваш Бог, благословил вас во всех делах ваших рук.
