1 Kings 22

For three years there was no war between Aram and Israel.

Три года между Сирией и Исраилом не было войны.

But in the third year Jehoshaphat king of Judah went down to see the king of Israel.

Но на третий год Иосафат, царь Иудеи, отправился к царю Исраила.

The king of Israel had said to his officials, “Don’t you know that Ramoth Gilead belongs to us and yet we are doing nothing to retake it from the king of Aram?”

Царь Исраила сказал своим приближённым:

– Разве вы не знаете, что Рамот Галаадский принадлежит нам, а мы и не пытаемся забрать его у царя Сирии?

So he asked Jehoshaphat, “Will you go with me to fight against Ramoth Gilead?”

Jehoshaphat replied to the king of Israel, “I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.”

Он спросил Иосафата:

– Пойдёшь ли ты со мной воевать за Рамот Галаадский?

Иосафат ответил царю Исраила:

– Я с тобой. Мой народ – твой народ, мои кони – твои кони.

But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, “First seek the counsel of the Lord.”

Но ещё Иосафат сказал царю Исраила:

– Спроси вначале совета у Вечного.

So the king of Israel brought together the prophets—about four hundred men—and asked them, “Shall I go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall I refrain?”

“Go,” they answered, “for the Lord will give it into the king’s hand.”

Царь Исраила собрал пророков – около четырёхсот человек – и спросил их:

– Идти ли мне войной на Рамот Галаадский или не ходить?

– Иди, – ответили они. – Владыка отдаст город в руки царя.

But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there no longer a prophet of the Lord here whom we can inquire of?”

Но Иосафат спросил:

– Разве нет здесь ещё пророка Вечного, которого мы могли бы спросить?

The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, “There is still one prophet through whom we can inquire of the Lord, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me, but always bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.”

“The king should not say such a thing,” Jehoshaphat replied.

Царь Исраила ответил Иосафату:

– Есть ещё один человек, через которого мы можем спросить Вечного, но я ненавижу его, потому что он никогда не пророчествует обо мне ничего доброго, а только плохое. Это Михей, сын Имлы.

– Царю не следует так говорить, – сказал Иосафат.

So the king of Israel called one of his officials and said, “Bring Micaiah son of Imlah at once.”

Тогда царь Исраила позвал одного из военачальников и сказал:

– Немедленно приведи Михея, сына Имлы!

Dressed in their royal robes, the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting on their thrones at the threshing floor by the entrance of the gate of Samaria, with all the prophets prophesying before them.

Облачённые в царские одеяния царь Исраила и Иосафат, царь Иудеи, сидели на своих тронах на площади у ворот Самарии, а все пророки пророчествовали перед ними.

Now Zedekiah son of Kenaanah had made iron horns and he declared, “This is what the Lord says: ‘With these you will gore the Arameans until they are destroyed.’”

Тогда Цедекия, сын Кенааны, сделал себе железные рога^[a] и сказал:

– Так говорит Вечный: «Ими ты будешь бодать сирийцев, пока они не будут истреблены».

All the other prophets were prophesying the same thing. “Attack Ramoth Gilead and be victorious,” they said, “for the Lord will give it into the king’s hand.”

Все остальные пророки пророчествовали о том же, говоря:

– Иди на Рамот Галаадский и будь победителем! Вечный отдаст его в руки царя.

The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, “Look, the other prophets without exception are predicting success for the king. Let your word agree with theirs, and speak favorably.”

Посланник, который ходил, чтобы позвать Михея, сказал ему:

– Слушай, все остальные пророки, как один, предсказывают царю успех. Пусть твоё слово будет согласно с их словами, и говори благоприятно.

But Micaiah said, “As surely as the Lord lives, I can tell him only what the Lord tells me.”

Но Михей сказал:

– Верно, как и то, что жив Вечный, – я скажу ему лишь то, что скажет мне Вечный.

When he arrived, the king asked him, “Micaiah, shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or not?”

“Attack and be victorious,” he answered, “for the Lord will give it into the king’s hand.”

Когда он пришёл, царь спросил его:

– Михей! Идти ли нам воевать с Рамотом Галаадским или не ходить?

– Иди конечно, и будь победителем, – ответил он. – Вечный обязательно отдаст его в руки царя.

The king said to him, “How many times must I make you swear to tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord?”

Но царь сказал ему:

– Сколько раз мне заставить тебя поклясться, чтобы ты не говорил мне ничего, кроме истины во имя Вечного?

Then Micaiah answered, “I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd, and the Lord said, ‘These people have no master. Let each one go home in peace.’”

Тогда Михей ответил:

– Я видел весь Исраил рассеянным по горам, как овцы без пастуха, и Вечный сказал: «У них нет господина. Пусть каждый возвращается с миром домой».

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Didn’t I tell you that he never prophesies anything good about me, but only bad?”

Царь Исраила сказал Иосафату:

– Разве я не говорил тебе, что он никогда не пророчествует обо мне ничего хорошего, одно лишь плохое?

Micaiah continued, “Therefore hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne with all the multitudes of heaven standing around him on his right and on his left.

А Михей сказал:

– Итак, выслушай слово Вечного. Я видел Вечного сидящим на Своём троне, со всем небесным воинством, стоявшим справа и слева от Него.

And the Lord said, ‘Who will entice Ahab into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?’

“One suggested this, and another that.

Вечный сказал: «Кто выманит Ахава, чтобы он пошёл и пал при Рамоте Галаадском?» И один предлагал одно, другой другое,

Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the Lord and said, ‘I will entice him.’

тогда вышел некий дух и встал перед Вечным, сказав: «Я его выманю». «Как?» – спросил Вечный.

“‘By what means?’ the Lord asked.

“‘I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,’ he said.

“‘You will succeed in enticing him,’ said the Lord. ‘Go and do it.’

«Я пойду и стану лживым духом в речах всех его пророков», – сказал он. «Да, ты преуспеешь в этом и выманишь его, – сказал Вечный. – Иди и сделай так».

“So now the Lord has put a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours. The Lord has decreed disaster for you.”

И вот, теперь Вечный вложил в уста всех этих твоих пророков лживый дух, а тебе Вечный определил беду.

Then Zedekiah son of Kenaanah went up and slapped Micaiah in the face. “Which way did the spirit from^[a] the Lord go when he went from me to speak to you?” he asked.

Тогда Цедекия, сын Кенааны, подошёл и ударил Михея по щеке.

– Как это Дух Вечного перешёл от меня к тебе, чтобы говорить с тобой? – спросил он.

Micaiah replied, “You will find out on the day you go to hide in an inner room.”

Михей ответил:

– Ты узнаешь это в тот день, когда будешь прятаться во внутренней комнате.

The king of Israel then ordered, “Take Micaiah and send him back to Amon the ruler of the city and to Joash the king’s son

Тогда царь Исраила приказал:

– Возьмите Михея и отправьте его к Амону, правителю города, и к Иоашу, приближённому царя,

and say, ‘This is what the king says: Put this fellow in prison and give him nothing but bread and water until I return safely.’”

и скажите: Так говорит царь: «Посадите этого человека в темницу и не давайте ему ничего, кроме хлеба и воды, пока я благополучно не вернусь».

Micaiah declared, “If you ever return safely, the Lord has not spoken through me.” Then he added, “Mark my words, all you people!”

Ahab Killed at Ramoth Gilead

Михей сказал:

– Если ты благополучно вернёшься, значит, Вечный не говорил через меня!

И ещё он сказал:

– Пусть все услышат это!

Гибель Ахава

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.

И царь Исраила пошёл на Рамот Галаадский с Иосафатом, царём Иудеи.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will enter the battle in disguise, but you wear your royal robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.

Царь Исраила сказал Иосафату:

– Я вступлю в сражение переодетым, но ты носи свои царские одежды.

Царь Исраила переоделся и вступил в сражение.

Now the king of Aram had ordered his thirty-two chariot commanders, “Do not fight with anyone, small or great, except the king of Israel.”

А царь Сирии приказал тридцати двум начальникам над своими колесницами:

– Не сражайтесь ни с кем, ни с малым, ни с великим, кроме царя Исраила.

When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they thought, “Surely this is the king of Israel.” So they turned to attack him, but when Jehoshaphat cried out,

Когда начальники над колесницами увидели Иосафата, они подумали: «Конечно, это и есть царь Исраила».

И они повернули, чтобы напасть на него, но когда Иосафат закричал,

the chariot commanders saw that he was not the king of Israel and stopped pursuing him.

начальники над колесницами увидели, что он не царь Исраила и перестали его преследовать.

But someone drew his bow at random and hit the king of Israel between the sections of his armor. The king told his chariot driver, “Wheel around and get me out of the fighting. I’ve been wounded.”

Но кто-то натянул лук и случайно ранил царя Исраила, так что стрела попала в щель между доспехами.

Царь сказал своему колесничему:

– Разворачивайся и вывези меня из боя. Я ранен.

All day long the battle raged, and the king was propped up in his chariot facing the Arameans. The blood from his wound ran onto the floor of the chariot, and that evening he died.

Но битва кипела весь день, и царь вынужден был стоять в своей колеснице перед сирийцами. Кровь из раны текла на пол колесницы, и вечером он умер.

As the sun was setting, a cry spread through the army: “Every man to his town. Every man to his land!”

Когда садилось солнце, по войску прокатился клич:

– Пусть каждый человек возвращается в свой город, каждый – в свою землю!

So the king died and was brought to Samaria, and they buried him there.

Царь умер и был привезён в Самарию, где его и похоронили.

They washed the chariot at a pool in Samaria (where the prostitutes bathed),^[b] and the dogs licked up his blood, as the word of the Lord had declared.

А колесницу вымыли в самарийском пруду, где мылись блудницы,^[b] и псы лизали его кровь – по слову Вечного, которое Он изрёк.^[c]

As for the other events of Ahab’s reign, including all he did, the palace he built and adorned with ivory, and the cities he fortified, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?

Прочие события царствования Ахава и то, что он сделал, включая дворец, построенный им и выложенный слоновой костью, и города, которые он укрепил, записано в «Книге летописей царей Исраила».

Ahab rested with his ancestors. And Ahaziah his son succeeded him as king.

Jehoshaphat King of Judah

Ахав упокоился со своими предками. И царём вместо него стал его сын Охозия.

Иосафат – царь Иудеи

Jehoshaphat son of Asa became king of Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.

Иосафат, сын Асы, стал царём Иудеи на четвёртом году правления Ахава, царя Исраила.

Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-five years. His mother’s name was Azubah daughter of Shilhi.

Иосафату было тридцать пять лет, когда он стал царём, и правил он в Иерусалиме двадцать пять лет. Его мать звали Азува, она была дочерью Шилхи.

In everything he followed the ways of his father Asa and did not stray from them; he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. The high places, however, were not removed, and the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.^[c]

Он во всём ходил путями своего отца Асы и не уклонялся от них, делая то, что было правильным в глазах Вечного. Но святилища на возвышенностях не были уничтожены, и народ продолжал приносить там жертвы и возжигать благовония.

Jehoshaphat was also at peace with the king of Israel.

Ещё Иосафат заключил мир с царём Исраила.

As for the other events of Jehoshaphat’s reign, the things he achieved and his military exploits, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?

Прочие события царствования Иосафата, то, что он совершил, и его воинские подвиги записаны в «Книге летописей царей Иудеи».

He rid the land of the rest of the male shrine prostitutes who remained there even after the reign of his father Asa.

Остаток храмовых блудников, которые ещё были в стране в дни его отца Асы, он искоренил.

There was then no king in Edom; a provincial governor ruled.

В Эдоме не было царя, правил наместник.

Now Jehoshaphat built a fleet of trading ships^[d] to go to Ophir for gold, but they never set sail—they were wrecked at Ezion Geber.

Иосафат построил флотилию торговых кораблей^[d], чтобы плавать в Офир за золотом, но они так и не отплыли, потому что разбились в родном порту Эцион-Гевер.

At that time Ahaziah son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, “Let my men sail with yours,” but Jehoshaphat refused.

В то время Охозия, сын Ахава, сказал Иосафату:

– Пусть мои люди плавают вместе с твоими, – но Иосафат не захотел.

Then Jehoshaphat rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the city of David his father. And Jehoram his son succeeded him as king.

Ahaziah King of Israel

Иосафат упокоился со своими предками и был похоронен с ними в Городе Давуда, своего предка. И царём вместо него стал его сын Иорам.

Охозия – царь Исраила

Ahaziah son of Ahab became king of Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and he reigned over Israel two years.

Охозия, сын Ахава, стал царём Исраила на семнадцатом году правления Иосафата, царя Иудеи, и правил в Самарии Исраилом два года.

He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, because he followed the ways of his father and mother and of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

Он делал зло в глазах Вечного, потому что ходил путями отца и матери и путями Иеровоама, сына Невата, который склонил Исраил к греху.

He served and worshiped Baal and aroused the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel, just as his father had done.

Он служил Баалу и поклонялся ему, и вызывал гнев Вечного, Бога Исраила, как и его отец.
