Judges 12:4

Then Jephthah assembled all the men of Gilead and fought with [the tribe of] Ephraim; and the men of Gilead defeated Ephraim, because they had said, “You Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim, in the midst of [the tribes of] Ephraim and Manasseh.”

Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.

So Jephthah got his Gilead troops together and fought Ephraim. And the men of Gilead hit them hard because they were saying, “Gileadites are nothing but half breeds and rejects from Ephraim and Manasseh.” 5-6 Gilead captured the fords of the Jordan at the crossing to Ephraim. If an Ephraimite fugitive said, “Let me cross,” the men of Gilead would ask, “Are you an Ephraimite?” and he would say, “No.” And they would say, “Say, ‘Shibboleth.’” But he would always say, “Sibboleth”—he couldn’t say it right. Then they would grab him and kill him there at the fords of the Jordan. Forty-two Ephraimite divisions were killed on that occasion.

Then Jephthah gathered all the men of Gilead and fought Ephraim; and the men of Gilead [c]defeated Ephraim, because they said, “You are fugitives of Ephraim, O Gileadites, in the midst of Ephraim and in the midst of Manasseh.”

Then Jephthah called the men of Gilead together. They fought against Ephraim. The men of Gilead struck them down. The people of Ephraim had said, “You people of Gilead are nothing but deserters from Ephraim and Manasseh.”

وَحَشَدَ يَفْتَاحُ كُلَّ رِجَالِ جِلْعَادَ وَحَارَبَ سِبْطَ أَفْرَايِمَ وَهَزَمَهُمْ، لأَنَّ رِجَالَ أَفْرَايِمَ اسْتَخَفُّوا بِالْجِلْعَادِيِّينَ قَائِلِينَ: «إِنَّهُمْ مَنْبُوذُو أَفْرَايِمَ وَمَنَسَّى».

Men efraimitterne hånede mændene fra Gilead ved at hævde, at de var flygtninge, som ikke havde ret til at bo i det land, der tilhørte Efraim og Manasse.[a] Da blev Jefta vred og samlede Gileads hær, hvorefter han gik til angreb på efraimitterne.

Toen Efraïm de mannen van Gilead uitschold voor weggelopen Efraïmieten (Gilead ligt namelijk tussen Efraïm en Manasse), kwam Jefta in actie. Hij riep alle mannen van Gilead op voor de strijd en viel het leger van Efraïm aan. Efraïm werd verslagen.

Iefta i-a strâns pe toţi ghiladiţii şi s-a luptat cu cei din Efraim. Ghiladiţii i-au ucis pe efraimiţi pentru că aceştia îi batjocoreau zicând: „Voi, ghiladiţii, sunteţi nişte fugari ai lui Efraim; Ghiladul aparţine lui Efraim şi lui Manase!“

Jefta samlade alla männen i Gilead och gav sig i strid mot efraimiterna. De besegrade efraimiterna som hade sagt: ”Ni gileaditer är bara flyktingar från Efraim och Manasse!”
