Joshua 9:21

The leaders said to them, “Let them live [as our slaves].” So they became the cutters and gatherers of firewood and water carriers for the entire congregation, just as the leaders had said of them.

And the princes said unto them, Let them live; but let them be hewers of wood and drawers of water unto all the congregation; as the princes had promised them.

De fortsatte: ”Låt dem leva, men de får hugga ved och bära vatten åt hela menigheten.” Det blev som ledarna lovat dem.
