Joshua 8:9

So Joshua sent them off, and they went to the place for the ambush and stayed [hidden] between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of Ai; but Joshua spent that night among the people [in Gilgal].

Joshua therefore sent them forth: and they went to lie in ambush, and abode between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of Ai: but Joshua lodged that night among the people.

Joshua sent them off. They set their ambush and waited between Bethel and Ai, just west of Ai. Joshua spent the night with the people. 10-13 Joshua was up early in the morning and mustered his army. He and the leaders of Israel led the troops to Ai. The whole army, fighting men all, marched right up within sight of the city and set camp on the north side of Ai. There was a valley between them and Ai. He had taken about five thousand men and put them in ambush between Bethel and Ai, west of the city. They were all deployed, the main army to the north of the city and the ambush to the west. Joshua spent the night in the valley.

So Joshua sent them away, and they went to the place of ambush and remained between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of Ai; but Joshua spent that night among the people.

وَأَطْلَقَهُمْ يَشُوعُ فَتَوَجَّهُوا إِلَى الْمَكْمَنِ، حَيْثُ تَرَبَّصُوا بِالْمَدِينَةِ مَا بَيْنَ بَيْتِ إِيلَ وَغَرْبِيِّ عَايَ. وَقَضَى يَشُوعُ لَيْلَتَهُ تِلْكَ فِي وَسَطِ الشَّعْبِ.

Med disse ord sendte Josva mændene af sted, og de gik i ly af natten hen vest for byen mellem Aj og Betel, hvor de lagde sig i skjul. Men Josva blev den nat hos resten af hæren.

Då skickade Josua iväg dem och de lade sig i bakhåll mellan Betel och Aj, väster om Aj, men Josua stannade bland folket under natten.
