Joshua 4:8

So the [twelve men chosen from the] sons of Israel did as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel, just as the Lord had spoken to Joshua; and they carried them over with them to the place where they were spending the night and put them down there.

Mændene gjorde, som Josva havde sagt. De samlede 12 sten op fra flodlejet, én sten for hver stamme, sådan som Herren havde befalet Josva, og tog dem med sig til det sted, hvor de slog lejr for natten.

De mannen deden wat Jozua hun had opgedragen. Zij haalden twaalf stenen uit het midden van de Jordaan, voor elke stam één, zoals de Here Jozua had bevolen. Zij brachten de stenen naar de plaats waar het kamp voor die nacht was opgeslagen en maakten er een gedenkteken van.

Israeliterna gjorde som Josua hade sagt till dem. De tog tolv stenar från flodens mitt – en sten för varje stam, precis som Herren hade sagt till Josua. De bar upp stenarna till lägerplatsen och lade ner dem där.
