I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh-barnea to scout the land [of Canaan], and I brought a report back to him as it was in my heart.

فَقَدْ كُنْتُ فِي الأَرْبَعِينَ مِنْ عُمْرِي حِينَ أَرْسَلَنِي مُوسَى عَبْدُ الرَّبِّ، مِنْ قَادَشَ بَرْنِيعَ لأَتَجَسَّسَ الأَرْضَ، فَعُدْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَأَنْبَأْتُهُ بِمَا كَانَ قَلْبِي مُقْتَنِعاً بِهِ.

„Jeg var 40 år gammel, dengang Moses sendte os fra Kadesh-Barnea ind i Kana’an for at udspionere landet. Da vi kom tilbage, aflagde jeg rapport til ham efter bedste overbevisning.
