Ezra 6:21

The Passover was eaten by the sons (descendants) of Israel (Jacob) who returned from exile and by all those who had separated themselves from the [ceremonial] uncleanness of the nations of the land to join them, in order to seek the Lord God of Israel.

So the Israelites who had returned ate the Passover lamb. They ate it together with all those who had separated themselves from the practices of their Gentile neighbors. Those practices were “unclean.” The people worshiped the Lord. He is the God of Israel.

وَأَكَلَ الإِسْرَائِيلِيُّونَ الرَّاجِعُونَ مِنَ السَّبْيِ الْفِصْحَ، مَعَ سَائِرِ الَّذِينَ انْفَصَلُوا عَنْ مُمَارَسَةِ رَجَاسَاتِ أُمَمِ الأَرْضِ. وَجَاءُوا لِيَعْبُدُوا الرَّبَّ إِلَهَ إِسْرَائِيلَ.

Doch nicht nur die heimgekehrten Israeliten aßen das Passahlamm, sondern auch alle, die sich vom Götzendienst der heidnischen Bevölkerung im Land losgesagt hatten. Auch sie wollten jetzt ganz dem Herrn, dem Gott Israels, gehören.
