Ezekiel 18:20

The person who sins [is the one that] will die. The son will not bear the punishment for the sin of the father, nor will the father bear the punishment for the sin of the son; the righteousness of the righteous shall be on himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be on himself.

The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

Degene die zondigt, is degene die sterft. De zoon zal niet worden gestraft voor de zonden van zijn vader, noch de vader voor de zonden van zijn zoon. Een rechtvaardig mens zal worden beloond voor zijn rechtvaardigheid, maar een goddeloos mens zal voor zijn goddeloosheid worden gestraft.

Den som syndar ska dö. Sonen ska inte dela sin fars skuld, och inte heller fadern sin sons. Den rättfärdige ska få del av sin rättfärdighet och den gudlöse av sin gudlöshet.
