Ecclesiastes 8:14

There is a meaningless and futile thing which is done on the earth: that is, there are righteous men whose gain is as though they were evil, and evil men whose gain is as though they were righteous. I say that this too is futility (meaningless, vain).

There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity.

Here’s something that happens all the time and makes no sense at all: Good people get what’s coming to the wicked, and bad people get what’s coming to the good. I tell you, this makes no sense. It’s smoke.

There is futility which is done on the earth, that is, there are righteous men to whom it [j]happens according to the deeds of the wicked. On the other hand, there are evil men to whom it [k]happens according to the deeds of the righteous. I say that this too is futility.

Here’s something else on this earth that doesn’t have any meaning. Sometimes godly people get what sinful people should receive. And sinful people get what godly people should receive. Here’s what I’m telling you. That doesn’t have any meaning either.

There is something else meaningless that occurs on earth: the righteous who get what the wicked deserve, and the wicked who get what the righteous deserve. This too, I say, is meaningless.

And this is not all that is meaningless in our world. In this life, good people are often treated as though they were wicked, and wicked people are often treated as though they were good. This is so meaningless!

فِي الأَرْضِ يَسُودُ بَاطِلٌ: هُنَاكَ صِدِّيقُونَ يَنَالُهُمْ جَزَاءُ أَعْمَالِ الأَشْرَارِ، وَأَشْرَارٌ يَحْظَوْنَ بِثَوَابِ أَعْمَالِ الأَبْرَارِ، فَقُلْتُ: هَذَا أَيْضاً بَاطِلٌ.

Endnu en uretfærdighed er udbredt på jorden: Det sker, at ulykker rammer de gode i stedet for de onde, og at de onde får den belønning, som de gode havde fortjent. Er det ikke meningsløst?

Und trotzdem geschieht so vieles auf der Welt, das keinen Sinn ergibt: Da geht es rechtschaffenen Menschen so schlecht, wie es den Gottlosen gehen sollte. Und da haben Gottlose ein so schönes Leben, als hätten sie Gottes Gebote befolgt. Das kommt mir alles so sinnlos vor!

세상에는 이해할 수 없는 일이 많이 있다. 의로운 사람이 악인의 벌을 받는 경우가 있고 악인이 의로운 사람의 상을 받는 경우도 있으니 이것도 헛된 것이다.

Meningslöst är det som händer här på jorden: Det finns rättfärdiga som får vad de onda förtjänar och onda som får vad de rättfärdiga förtjänar. Även detta är meningslöst. Arbetsglädje är en gåva från Gud

มีสิ่งอนิจจังอีกอย่างที่เกิดขึ้นในโลกนี้คือ คนชอบธรรมรับผลที่ควรตกแก่คนชั่ว แต่คนชั่วกลับรับผลที่ควรตกแก่คนชอบธรรม ข้าพเจ้ากล่าวว่า นี่ก็อนิจจัง
